That's a list supposedly lifting off of a mocked up 2007 ACL Fest poster. Some of the names are confirmed, some of the names are in negotiation, some of the names are wishful thinking, some of the names are fantasy.

Also, the guy who books Lollapalooza, is booking ACL. And MMJ is already confirmed for Lolla.

yay bjork...her new album comes out tomorrow -

hope MMJ comes - i will be there if they are.
God damn those shaky knees.

tobiasfunke

my morning jacket is in ladies and gents... here is the whole lineup.  i think it's better than last year, but probably worse than 2005.  http://www.aclfestival.com/lineup.aspx

Dorothy_Mantooth

tobias, awesome name.

as for the lineup, kind of a let down. always happy to have jacket but where do they dig up the rest of this junk? this is the most non diverse lineup i've ever seen.

I find it interesting that MMJ got the biggest font on the ACL website.

For the love of god!  Aftershow!  PLEASE!

buaawwww

Non-diverse lineup?  I don't know but I think having Dylan and Queens of the Stone Age on the same bill qualifies as a little diverse?

soapypnkprojctle

Yeah, I'm going to have to put my two cents in and say that it's a pretty f-in diverse line-up.. Bjork? I mean Christ, that could make any line-up diverse..

I think it's one of the best, by far, and I'm pumped about it...

Not to beat a dead horse.. but.. Bonnaroo? Just timing? Or what?

Dorothy_Mantooth

QuoteDylan and Queens of the Stone Age

i'd like to see more soul, hip hop, and rap acts. i can't count dylan and queens of the stone age as diverse because i would consider them both to be rock acts. i mean hell, i'm still going to the festival, because it's what you do here, but for me personally, i guess i always think it's going to be a little more like coachella or lollapalooza, but i know it's something totally different.

it will be a fun show. i said that comment before because i was taking some misplaced anger out on a festival. but i ain't taking it back. After all, criticism is the only way something like the Festival has become as large and healthy as it is.

I have never been to ACL.  What type of set length are we talking about for MMJ?  10 songs?

The DARK

The National, Andrew Bird, MMJ, LCD Soundsystem, Bob Dylan, Spoon, Wilco, White Stripes...this will not disappoint.  :)
In another time, in another place, in another face

45 minutes to 1 hour....

Unless they are one of 6 or so "headliners", then they may get up to an hour and a half.

Charles Attal, a wonderful young man from Austin, booked both Lolla and ACL. He has said several times that MMJ has been his favorite band for a while now. I would not be at all surprised if they were on of the headliners.

The best thing about ACL Fest is leaving the festival, walking across the street to Barton Springs and jumping into 65 degree water, hearing the music in the background, and then heading back to the festival.

ticket purchased!  woo!

this will be my first time at ACL.  will likely have to miss friday due to work.  we'll see just who is playing that day.   :D

and this line up is fantastic!!  my three biggest binge acts of the last couple of years will be there.  for the love of pete, i hope they aren't playing at the same time...

i have questions that need answers:

1.  how much does this festival cost?  is it a pay/day situation?
2.  what are the dates?
3.  can you walk there from the cakey/mantooth abode?

these are only questions and they are only for informational purposes for inquiring minds who have questions.

thank you.

hey i can answer these.
1. 3 day pass is 145 right now i believe. they do come out with 1 day passes later after the schedule is announced, i think.
2. sep 14-16
3. we can definitely walk. in fact, when the rolling stones played at zilker park we sat in lawn chairs in the backyard with a fire and some hot choc and just listened. the walk will be hot, but it's doable
