I have been a member of this board for around 2 years now. I dont post a lot but i do come everyday and check to see if there's any new news or rare songs that have surfaced. I love coming here because the people on this board are always very kind and happy to share. No one ever makes fun of people when they are new and asking questions that may seem silly to the more experienced board member or fan. The most important thing about this board though is that there is rarely  any negativity. That was not the case this morning. I understand people that love the band very much were shut out from tickets as was I but there are still a ton of tickets out there. I saw people bitching at the band, management and other board members. I was taken back from what i was seeing. I stopped going to some other bands boards because of the negativity. I just hope that doesn't continue on this board. Now that everyone has vented lets get ready for next friday and buy some tickets for whats going to be the best show NYC sees in 2008!!!!!

I think it's natural for people who are planning on traveling hundreds or even thousands of miles to see a show get a little frustrated when stuff like what went down this morning happens. Obviously management understood the frustration because they released a statement.  There have been other times when this board has been peeved with management and we didn't even get a nod of the head.  I agree that releasing that statement this morning was classy, but there have been times in the past where... well, let's just say that wasn't the case.

In short, I agree that this board is a LOT more civil than most others and I don't think this morning changes that at all.

I can understand the negativity, but it seems that musictoday pre-sales for hot shows always go like this.  anybody bitching too hard should try getting pre-sale tickets for wilco when they play at the 9:30 club.  they literally sell out in 3-5 minutes.

I think that 5000 seats will be plenty for everybody who wants to go to this show.  in our enthusiasm about the band, we assume that the fanbase is legion and rabid.  There are plenty of us, but I don't think there are 5000 folks paying enough attention to even realize that these tickets are going on sale next friday.

I'll repeat what I said in a different thread, I avoid pre sales. They are feeding frenzy and they usually are not for the "best" seats. I take my chances like everyone else when the tickets go on sale to the general pop. I have never not gotten a decent seat for the shows that I want to sit at or failed to get a ticket for the ones where I hit the floor. No point in getting pissed at the band. It's not their fault. Just my take.

Wilco at the 9:30 on-sale...I was home from work, clicked and clicked and got nothing.  Thankfully, a friend of mine clicked once, got in, and got 4 tickets.  I think all 4 are spoken for right now, but if that changes and you need 1, I can keep you posted.

wilco at 9:30 has sold out in less than 2 minutes before.

I didnt get tickets and I was a bit disappointed. I'm in no way salty at the band or mangement. However I do hope that they do use this as a learning experience for future "pre-sales". I really dont know what the right answer is, but tickets ending up on ebay the same day is complete bullshit IMO. I wonder how many people that got tickets signed up for the email updates from the band and registered with Music Today within the week before the pre-sale started. While people who have been signed up forever get shut out??? I think its high time for a fan club. I would gladly pay $10-25/yr for a CD with a few special songs once a year and fan club only pre-sales. I know others feel the same and I hope management is listening. Take a page outta PJ's book!
i kinda think right now is a pretty good time to just sit down and sing people some mother-fuckin songs

thanks for the offer of assistance!  I was lucky enough to get tickets for both nights during public on-sale.  Maybe I'll see you there.
