Cool, we need close-ups of Jim and Carl fret work people!
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Please, for the love of god, carry a real video camera. Please.

I am thankful that digital cameras can record video for those times when something cool happens and you just happen to have a way to record it.
BUT, the sound is always terrible and the resolution is already have the size of a real video before you even get started with compression for the innernets.

So... if the opportunity is there to bring a real camera, please do so. I beg of all of you.
:)

it almost sounds as though they'd be getting the sbd for the audio. There's no way they would use clips from everyone's devices...

You can watch the one they did with the Shins at ACL for a good example.

this is a great idea!

It reminds me of the Beastie Boys doc "Dude, I F*cking Shot That!"  Same concept.  Can't wait to see it.

I sat on my post for a while and realized that it was kinda "assholish". Didn't mean for it to sound that way.
I really am glad that digital cameras can take video in those "oh shit, I wish I had a camera" moments.
But as someone who works with videography, it's hard to watch videos made with digital cameras sometimes. Make sense?

Yeah, the guys that are doing this, contacted me thru the vids that I posted on Youtube
from the show they did last November here in Chicago at the Riv. And I do believe that
audio should be from the soundboard.

Can't wait......still having a fat BBQ the weekend of Palooza......for all the out of state visitors, are more than welcome.

Also, they just announced that Pearl Jam will be playing the Vic that Friday night. I think it was fan club members only though or some shit...???

Anyhow, hope to see some of you guys there!

Cheers,

Makes perfect sense to me and I do not think it was that assholish. Stuck with a still camera at Jacketfest trying to take decent video was a pain, especially with lighting etc. It seems like I enjoy shooting vid. now better than stills. Any suggestions on a decent middle of the line vid. camera for a beginner?

Hey Matt, I was looking into a Sony DCR-DVD108 DVD Handycam it's about 350, looks pretty cool. Any other takers for a video camera in this price range?

corey

I haven't priced cameras in several years, so I'm not real sure about what's out there these days.

If you have a little extra coin, you can usually get a used Canon GL-1 or GL-2 for less than 1000 bucks. Well, maybe the GL-2 wouldn't be that cheap, not sure. The Gl-1 is a great little camera. You've probably seen them out there. They look professional enough to make people think that you know what you are doing with a camera in your hand. :)

As for cheaper, home video type cams, you might want to look at Canon's and Panasonic. I got a little Canon ZR-80 cam a few years back for about 300 bucks at Best Buy and it's done a nice job. It's just a little hand-cam, but it works just fine.

Will have to look into Canon. Thank you Corey!  :)

Thanks for the suggestions. Seems like there is some decent product out there for cheaper than I thought.

for real...i forgot all about this!!!
If you're lucky, MMJ will fill the void you didn't even know you ever had. If you're luckier, you'll get to see them live.

I just saw a commercial on current and this will be airing on January 28th.  I'm really looking forward to that!
