Oh My God,  :o

I'm in Antwerp, but I think I could make it. I have ordered two tickets just to be safe.

I will be able to drive up to amsterdam, but is there a kind soul out there who is willing to offer me (and my partner) a place to spend the night (so I don't have to drive to antwerp in the middle of the night?) Please?

Of course this gentle soul will be rewarded correctly.

I'm actually shaking just thinking about this ...  :o

Wow, I knew Jim was up to something over there.  Can you let us in on anything else he might be doing over there between now and the St. James show on the 22nd? There must be something going on....Jules Holland? Live at Abbey Road?   A guy can dream can't he? :)
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Wow, I didn't notice.  I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

(Certainly don't tell my boss)

Just so you know,

me and Mr T. (see above) have managed to get on the guestlist, what remains are logistical issues like getting off work early, taking a three hour train ride to Amsterdam and finding some lodgement.

Support us in this quickly improvised endeavour!

Mr. T.

In 30 minutes Serge and I will be off to Amsterdam. Let's hope all goes well.

This will be our first solo-acoustic Jim James show so we're both excited as hell.

Expect pictures and stories tomorrow!

Here we go!

Riny, can you tell me the name of the venue for my records or is it still top secret? ;)

Mr. T.

I have been staring at my screen for about 20 minutes now, just not knowing what exactly to write about this truly magical and beautiful experience that was Jim and Carl's performance yesterday evening.

Serge and I stood front row in a small room, holding about 100 people and some cameras. On stage: two guitars, Carl's slide guitar and an omnichord.

From the moment Jim came out (for some reason he was carrying a bundle of radishes) and opened with "Tonight I want to celebrate with you" on the omnichord, the stars aligned, and everything fell right into place.

We were treated to spectacular and definitive versions of (in no particular order) Golden, Bermuda Highway, It beats for you, What a wonderful man, Gideon, Anytime, and as true highlights: I will Be There When You Die and THE BEAR!! I swear to God that that was the best performance of any song I have ever heard or seen in my entire life, not just by Jim, but by any living being. The Bear was flawless, flat out majestic, and dangerously perfect. It felt like I was flying inside.

From the new songs he played, I only knew I'm amazed. I think he didn't play Evil Urges, but anyone correct me if I'm wrong. I think he also played Librarian, smoking from shooting, and a couple of others I don't know the titles of.
I guess it's too early to give any opinion about new song I've heard just once, but I didn't think I heard one song that will leave me cold.

I've tried to take some pictures, and you can find them here:

At the end of Anytime, the last song of the evening, Jim went totally berserk on his omnichord, when he threw it out of his hands, he grabbed the radishes (!) and rushed off-stage waving his arms around like a madman.

The guy definitely is crazy, but he is the best performer, and the best songwriter out there, and for that I salute him.
