Nashville was good... Louisville was epic! Abraham Lincoln's head fell off...  face meltingly epic! :o :D

this was my 10th show, and by far my favorite. the show was a baptismal of reverb, and funky bass lines (even though one girl beside me complained the entire time about it being too loud). in my opinion, it was nothing short of magical.

my husband got approached by velocity because of his bizarre indian head-dress get up. apparently he's going to be in an issue. everyone was taking pictures with him, and giving him free beer. it was hilarious.  ::)

i do have one complaint, well really two.
the trash after the show was heartbreaking for me. i saw everything from batteries, to old whiskey bottles and abandoned blankets. and a sea of plastic cups. what happened to "going green"? i guess when it comes down to it, people talk the talk, but cant walk the walk.

and the glow sticks. i personally had a blast with them, but i can tell you that the band themselves did not appreciate hoards of glow sticks being chucked at them. they are trying to a put on a monumental show for their home town, and they get pelted by painful glowsticks. seriously, i was up front, center, two rows back, and i saw jim, carl, and tom get hit several times, including in the face. thats pretty immature and shitty in my opinion.

but hope everyone had a blast, and stayed safe. i witnessed two people in front of me over exert themselves and collapse from god knows what. hope these incidents were few and far between.

great show boys, louisville finally got its show. and boy did you bring the house down!! :D
who fanned the fire that burned down the lake?

Holy
Fucking
Fuck

I have seen Rage Against the Machine. I've seen Wilco five times. I've seen Radiohead in a 200 (yes, two hundred) capacity venue.
I've never seen a concert like tonight.

Out of order, they played:

Anytime (opener)
Off the Record
Gideon
Evil Urges
Touch Me Part I
The Way That He Sings
Heartbreakin' Man
What A Wonderful Man
Where To Begin
Golden
I'm Amazed
Thank You Too!
Mahgeetah (mid-set, I was surprised)
Phone Went West
Two Halves
Look At You (Jim solo)
Aluminum Park
Lay Low
Dondante
Smokin>
Touch Me Part II

Then, the ridiculous encore (in order):
Wordless Chorus
Highly Suspicious
COBRA
Steam Engine (no drum solo)
Run Thru
Dancefloors
One Big Holiday

They came on stage at 8:25 exactly (late start to allow the huge line of people to all get in), and they were off stage at 11:21. Just wait for the tapes. The encore might have been MMJ's finest hour.

first War Begun and then COBRA?? WTF is going on?? Did they play the whole thing?? Gebuz.
Because if there's one thing that goes well with shooting zombies it's a Dolly Parton cover-el chode

They played the whole thing (well, as much as they've ever played live--the 3-part, ten minute version)

Jim strutted around wearing a cape during Touch Me Part I, Lay Low, and Wordless Chorus

The entire band played a jam on Low Rider and Oye Como Va with the Louisville Leopard Percussionists (who were fantastic!) about a half hour before show time

The lights were incredible, the band was dead on.

That's flipping sweet. I am patiently waiting for tapes of these shows. Well. . . as patiently as I can.

Have I mentioned lately that I love tapers? You all are my heroes.

Recordings of the shows--which are more and more inaccurately named as most "tapers" have gone completely digital (or am I behind now and they're *all* digi now?).
Sometimes some very kind people post up links to these "tapes" on this very board, but you can also find them at //archive.org (just search for My Morning Jacket).

I just got back home to Nashville, after having an amazing weekend with the Nashville show and the Louisville show.

Nashville was high energy and full throttle. The highlights for me where War Begun with Fireworks in the back round, Jim James doing a stage slide during Wordless Chorus and the kicks during Dancefloors,

Louisville, was the best jacket show I have ever seen. The encore was like a dream come true, especially when Cobra was played followed by Steam Engine, it doesn't get better then that. The crowd was amazing, everyone was having a great time and not causing any trouble. Jim's speeches where entertaining as well.

One of best weekends of my musical career, Sensory overload, I am in My Morning Jacket Heaven right now. !!!!!!!

Kris

AHHH  COBRA WAS EPIC.

So nice to get Where To Begin as well.

likethetwilight

incredible show... i've seen them seven times and each time just gets better. nowhere in the world tonight was there a better show than MMJ in louisville...

(sorry, these photos are kinda large. you'll prolly have to scroll left to right to see the whole image)

Did anyone get a good picture of the Makers Mark/Evil Urges banner that was hanging in the back of the venue?  I heard from a Maker's employee that a crew member (whether he was with the band or the local crew is uncertain) came and ripped it down, saying that is was not allowed to be there.  I would hate to think that the band would care about such things, but I could see a park or city member getting offended by a "suggestive" banner that all the highway travelers could see.

For those of you who didn't see it, it was a picture of the top half of a Maker's bottle, with the red wax formed into horns.  Above the picture was the words "Evil Urges."

It was BADASS to say the least, and I really wish I could have gotten a print of that.  I would pay some hefty money to have that on a poster, unauthorized or not.  I don't care.

My two loves in the world-- Maker's and MMJ.  Hmmm mmm.  :)

...oh, and here's the finalized setlist that I came up with.  I'm uploading my audio source to the archive now.  It'll run a little longer than usual due to my piss-poor upload speeds.  I'd expect it to be done by this afternoon.

For now, I really should think about going to bed.   ::)

I would agree with that; the same thing happened in Nashville. You can see it on the awesome War Begun clip, Jim gets nailed twice.

They look cool but I wouldn't miss them and I know the band wouldn't either. Plus the logic is odd: Hey, there's a guy on stage pouring his heart and soul out through his music, I think I'll throw something at him...  :-/
