QuoteAny cheap hotels nearby?  Even a motel is fine with me.  I just want to party and crash a little before I drive back to Louisville.

I looked on hotels.com and the cheapest I could find was $ 112.00
Check it out.  Good luck in your search. Nothin cheap in the city.

wow!!!    I got a deal for $100.  It must be because the cost of living is so much more in Louisville than Chicago.

I don't understand what's going on here.  What's up with the $500 tickets?  The link doesn't work for me.

This is the thread  for the Chicago Fundraiser.  They deleted the thread for the Louisville fundraiser.  CANCELED.  They amended the price to $ 150.00 and then it was gone.  I smell something fishy goin on.
The  link for the tickets was to some dude named Tom or Steve I think. I bought tickets for the Chicago show and it had a direct link to the Obama website. :-/

So, what you're telling me is, there was talk about an Obama fund raiser where Jim plays in Louisville, but the ticket prices were high, but it was prolly bogus anyway?  I'm glad I got my Chicago tickets, too.

Sounds Like Palin your girl!!! You Speak of a Libertarian, correct?

great 70th post  ::)

I will never vote democrat again but I would polly go to this event if it was nearby just because my love for JJ, MMJ, and the music transcends political viewpoints.
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

On Oct. 16th, Backseat Sandbar is proud to help present Jim James of My Morning Jacket who will be performing an intimate solo acoustic set at the Louisville Watertower to raise money for the Barack Obama "Victory Fund". At a recent performance at the Waterfront on August 16th, Jim stated "This year is a turning point for humanity" and we all knew what he meant.  Now, as the election draws nearer, Jim is coming home with a cause.

Seating is limited, and a minimum donation of $150 is required to attend. Doors open at 7pm and will feature guest speakers Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson, Attorney General Jack Conway and Matthew Barzun (Chairman of the Obama Victory Fund), followed by a performance by Jim James.

All proceeds of this event will benefit the Barack Obama Victor

So when you think we'll find out if tomorrow's show is cancelled?  I live right by Schubas and have been there tons of time.  I was so excited to possibly see him in this venue

According to the Schuba's website...tonight's Obama Benefit show is cancelled (due to injury).

According to the Schuba's website, the Obama campaign will be contacting us regarding the benefit.  I still haven't received any notification from them, though.

From the Obama people...

"Good Morning –

Unfortunately, we are going to have to cancel the event schedule tonight with Jim James due to an unfortunate accident that took place last night during his show in Iowa.  We are going to refund everyone's money so please be patient as we do this.

Thank you for your patience and our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. James and his family during what we hope is a speedy recovery.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email us.  Thank you for your continued support of the campaign.

it's too bad there's no show, but it's not like Obama needs the money anymore.  America is sick of these buffoons, McCain and Palin, and I'm no Believer, but I think most people agree than Obama/Biden will get at least a few things done right, and clear out some of the shitstorm brought upon us by this heinously criminal regime currently in power.  and I'm very glad it's not Hillary Clinton.
