I am not sure if it has been mentioned, but at the start of Xmas curtain the camera pans to the crowd and Jim is standing right behind the character the movie follows.  Anyone else notice this.

BH

Yeah, I love that.  It proves they aren't trying to trick anyone into thinking the guy was really at the fillmore.  I bet there are a few more things in there to notice some day as well... ;)
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

chunt983

damnit, and this whole time I thought they actually had a llama in the audience while they were playing. I was like "wow, imagine being in that crowd and rocking out next to a llama". I wish I never opened this thread.

The Big Come Up

Yeah Jim is in the back of a couple of the scenes of "the man" and the llama laughing and clapping. During "The Attack" You can see Carl, Tommy (I know), and Jim (i think). And if you didnt notice all the guys are at "the party" at the beginning.

.Walt

during the credits, it says "bear played by himself." my roommate was seriously pissed that it said that. he wanted to know who played the bear....and no he wasn't on drugs, but he was pissed off.

yea i think they're all at the party.

who designed that set by the way?  I love the way they make u feel outdoors when they play.  Like on new years they had fucking snow falling - i felt like i was really in the back country with them.

you notice they show "Z man" in the DVD.  Thats a cool fucking thing to have and be able to look back on and really say, "i was there".  lucky!  He was dressed the same on New years too...do u always dress that way?

I have a question though for anyone who was at that concert...were the camera distracting or did they do a good job of not making a presence?
God damn those shaky knees.

I had seen MMJ at the fillmore on their previous tour shortly after I discovered them. It was a sunday night and there were about 300 people there and you could hear a pin drop when Jim sang One in the Same with M. Ward(who opened that night). I loved them.

The next year after Z came out I got tickets to both shows 'cause I was beginning to become obsessed with MMJ.

Then I found out right before the show that they would be filming and were encouraging costumes. The Wife (A_delle) and I went all out and rented costumes, you can see us in the photos section of Okonokos twice actually. Once, in all white as (bride and groom ghosts) and once as Z  man and A_delle.  We had no idea what to expect.i

Sam (the director) told us upstairs at the fillmore that we would fer sure be in the movie. Upstairs They had a photo booth with lighting and invited costumed folks in for a pic.

The cameras were noticeable but not obtrusive.

I have a  memory of Jim emerging out from stage right through a thick white fog (slow-mo)  after the encore break that looked like a God from the otherWorld. I wish that was included in Okonokos!

On the night I dressed as Z man a camera man came through the crowd. He was about 2 feet from my face for half a song but that did not make the film.
I love the  shot of Z-me pogo-ing at the end of mageetah.

What an enormous gift it is to see Okonokos from both perspectives! My belief in  the legend of My Morning Jacket is solidified.

There was no lama or actually Alpaca at the fillmore.

I have only dressed that way twice. NYE was the second. How could I be so  blessed to be at all these shows with  Jim, Carl, Bo, Tommy and Patrick.

As I've said before.  MMJ fans=imagination
I will be there when you die!

Ah, yess, he "has" A_delle, although it may at times be more a curse than a gift!  ;)

I can add that the cameras were 'present,' but were not in any way interfering our appreciation of the show. I felt "watched," (but, that isn't uncommon... 8-)) and was actually glad that they were probably getting some awesome crowd shots, although I didn't expect to appear in the DVD even once, let alone a few times (AND the fact that they caught me ROCKIN it during the climax of Dondante - one of my FAVORITES!- just made me wanna cry with gratitude).

I also recall how absolutely delighted I was to see so many fun and creative peeps all decked out in costumes (and as a dedicated Burningman participant, that means something special to me), I just felt like we were one big happy family there for a common cause. That is what keeps me moving forward, ya know.

what a way to capture a truly magical night with a magical band in a magical place in a magical city, under quite magical circumstances, with my magical Zman!

I sincerely feel that those people out there who haven't discovered MMJ are truly missing out on a fantastic and once-in-a-lifetime gig. I don't know how long this wonderful journey will last (FOREVER), but I will ride it into the ashes!!!!!!

LONG LIVE THE JACKET!

Thats you during Dondante? Thats like, one of my favorite parts of Okonokos. It's funny, me and my roommate  (Who I'd call a somewhat moderate MMJ fan) were watching it, and he mentioned that it looked like not a lot of people were getting down, and it so happened that you show up...totally in it. I was like..."well she certainly fucking is!". Haha...thats awesome...Cheers!

Didn't the dell dude get busted with pot-hence his 15 minutes of fame being over? Did you know Andy Warhol coined the term "15 minutes of fame"?

I love in "It Beats 4 U" when Tommy is making the beat by hitting the bottom of his bass while Jim is saying "Who can count the time I'm beatin... with my hands?"

Just show's their genius.  that must have been so cool to come up with!
God damn those shaky knees.

also...in wordless chorus...one some points he's holding a glowing ball and sometimes he's not.  was it filmed over two day? whats going on...? im confused and cant help but feel cheated if it's all not one show the entire time or if it was just that song cause jim likes to confuse us.  Someone give me some answers?!

Definately, footage  from both nights is included. i have seen myself in footage from both nights. Interestingly, some footage is combined from both nights in one song. I think they used footage and audio from different nights combined into one track.

Awesome. At least you can share the Jacket with The Wife. My wife cannot stand them or anything that I listen to for that matter.....don't ask I've been trying to get her to like any of m music for 12 years now.

I converted a friend at work to the Jacket based on the DVD alone. He watched the DVD and was blown away. The little somthin somethin that JJ throws in at the beginning of Lowdown just gets me everytime and makes me really wish I could play. I love the whole show (and every Jacket show I have been to) and and wishfully hope the NYE show was somehow taped (a guy can dream can't he?!?!?).
