I think we're more likely to see one-offs and festival-type appearances. I think their name is too big to not play at all. But an official tour is unlikely too.

What needs to happen is someone needs to start a fan club like Pearl Jam and that way real fans have access to tickets if they play a small venue. Pearl Jam played Irving Plaza a couple of years ago and had tickets for just fans. Prince played the Nokia theater in Times square it was a last minute booking and I was lucky enough to get tickets. Bowery is possible.  It's all in the approach. I believe the MMJ will always play the small venues. They could do a beacon run in NYC similar to the Allmans. You never know how Jim James and the boys could blow our minds. Let hope they don't pull a Ryan Adams!!!

NOt really an offical one, no. I mean, I'm sure we all are fans here, but Pearl Jam has an actual fan club, The 10 Club where you pay annually and they send you stuff and you get first crack at good tickets and stuff. Yeah.

Pearl Jam's fan club is legendary, but does it still cost a lot of money? I was in it for a few years but the "dues" became burdensome just to get a christmas present.

Still, a similar type of venture seems to suit MMJ perfectly. They, along with PJ, seem to be one of those rare breeds of bands that actually give a shit about fans and truly feed off them.

If all else fails, we can set booby traps for the loser "fans". Get Rid Of Supid fanS

10 bucks a year was burdensome?

It's 20 bucks now.  Still, that's pretty darn cheap.

el_chode

Well, it's not that it was expensive, but I'm cheap. Plus as a college student my money was all tied up in other endeavors. It was one of those things that I loved so long as I didn't have to pay for it.

I agree MMJ should take the ten club route.  There is no better fan club than that.  For example, they do a lottery system for fan club tickets were the first, second, ninth, and tenth rows are randomly distributed.  This summer I won front row seats to the Camden show!!! Not to mention you get access to a million other things.  Come on MMJ jump on board.

I'd venture to say REM's is better, and it still only costs $10.  They actually send their newsletters and holiday packages out in a timely fashion.   ;D  And the holiday package is great; usually a CD, a calendar, and some stickers.  This year it was a live DVD, which is pretty awesome.
if it falls apart or makes us millionaires

I say they have some kinda of "back in the day" show at the TWICE TOLD COFFEE HOUSE, or whatever happened to that place, even though i believe it got torn down but either way that would be epic!! :D

CALENDARS OUT, PEEPS!  [smiley=beer.gif]

as the spring progresses, we'll have to start something in the music forum.
something to consider:  since travel dough may be tough for people this time around, maybe we have a couple satellite events.

The planet will not survive an entire year without a bit of this:

I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Shit, I'm not gonna survive another year without that.  :'(

how do these jacket fests work? it seems like a lot of people here are in the NYC region...if there's a satellite one I wouldn't mind helping it be set up. I know for a fact there are $20 campsites with more "modern" bathroom facilities out in North West Jersey off route 80. It's also where Friday the 13th was supposed to be based
