one of the guys coming with me to the MOF show at the palace sez that he recently saw a show there (david byrne, i think) where NO ALCOHOL was served, at the request of the performer.

surely yim knows his hometown well enough that he wouldn't allow that to happen.  louisvillians without their beer?  god forbid.

i have to believe adult beverages will be served.....does anyone know for sure?  have they been served at the shows so far?

thanks to anyone who can ease the fears of this occasional drunkard. :D

I've never been to this venue so I can't say for sure, but I'm guessing it was just due to Byrne's request. I went to see Citizen Cope at Mississippi Nights in St. Lou years ago and by his request no one could smoke in the club.

Booze or not, it will still be great.

Yep. More have asked for smoke free recently. I cannot imagine there would be a booze ban, unless the artists was seriously against alcohol consumption. Booze is how venues make their money.

to clarify, i thought it might be possible that ward and/or oberst held the same no-booze-at-my-shows stance as byrne, and therefore all MOF shows might be alcohol-free.

They sold booze in Oakland, so you should be able to drink up when you see them.

Oberst is a prolific drinker, by all accounts. Last year in Denver, he went downtown the night before a show at the Ogden, got drunk and lost his ring. He was asking the audience the next night if we had found it... sorry brah, it hasn't turned up yet.
Not sure where Matt stands on drinking, however, I would be shocked if there were really an anti-booze sentiment coming from his direction.

what happened to this guy? really liked S/T and Clarence Greenwood Recordings, but his last album from like 3 years ago sucked. I think the only song I liked on it was the instrumental one towards the end!

Not sure what happened to him. haven't followed very closely. I think he was at Bonnaroo this past year tho?!
