Sticky Icky Green Stuff

whoa, awesome.  they're hangin with the big dogs now.

Good for them!

That PJ show at Soldier Field was supposed to be my 1st PJ show. I had tix and everything. My parents decided at the last minute to break the news to my best friend and me that "yeah, you're 16 you're not going." I had a meltdown. They tried to do it in a public place too. They prolly thought they could prevent the imminent meltdown by pulling that stunt. THEY WERE WRONG. I didn't care I just wanted to die. Oh, I've forgiven, but I haven't forgotten.  :(

Big Cypress was otherworldly. I'm glad it got a good spot.
Because we're all in this together...

Soulshine, I swear your parents were in cahoots with my parents.   ;D  Oh how I wanted to go to that show!

What about MMJ at RCMH?  It doesn't get much better than that show!

There's a lot to criticize about the list, but I'll just say that a lot of those shows (especially the ones toward the top) are more 'iconic' than 'greatest'...whatever that means.  ;D  Relix was trying to be well rounded (instead of just jam-oriented), and I think it's an outstanding collection of concerts! And the top one, while certainly the most significant event, musically, probably shouldn't even have made the list. I'd say the same thing about the Dylan Newport show (I'd 'a put the Royal Albert Hall show on there in its place, which is amazing musically). But I guess that there's a lot besides the actual music that can create impact at the event...I suppose that's the point. I'm just there to rock, that's all I'm sayin'.

As far as I can see, James Brown and Bob Dylan are the only cats to make the list twice.  8-)  (EDIT: Oh, I see the Beatles twice too...)

If I could magically go to one of those...Dead '69. No question.

Though Stones at MSG '72, James Brown at the Garden, Coltrane at the Village Vanguard, Cream...all of those would be acceptable alternatives.  ;)

You can all go f*ck yourselves. I sat in 7 hours of traffic to travel merely 100 miles from Philly to NYC for that and made it just in time to miss the first half of the show, and the awesomeness that was the second half just made it even worse because I could only imagine what I had missed up until that point.

Either way, I need more coffee. I read through it, didn't see the last waltz, started getting jittery, and then it was there, and now I'm coming down.
I'm surrounded by assholes
