While I wish that there were more people who were in to MMJ, thus most likely meaning more success for the band, I am ok with smaller crowds.  I too was at the Miami Filmore show in Aug 08 and was disapointed that so few folks showed, but I was also appreciative, because it made the event that much more intimate.
The huge mega arena shows will always be fun for the experience of the "event," but I prefer the smaller venues.
I do hope they sell out the st. augustine show, or come close to it, because having a good crowd, with a good vibe, is always a good time.

Just checked the tickets. Still Slow.  I just hope they wouldn't cancel  :(.

By my estimations, the pit is almost full and 5 of the 12 rows of the lower section are sold and none of the remaining 26 rows.

This sucks.  Florida sucks.  I travelled to see them at Boston Pops, Radio City, MSG, Lollapalooza, Langerado, and Miami.  And for some reason, the knuckleheads in FL can't catch on.

The Miami show was great, but if you remember, most of the crowd drizzled in, delaying the start by 30 minutes or so.  Because of this, they definitely cut a couple of songs from that night.  I want it to be like Radio City.  They went on exactly at 8 and played straight through and the crowd was one amoeba like creature.

COME ON FLA WAKE UP!!!
Pops, Langerado, Lollapalooza, RCMH, Miami Beach, MSG, St Aug, T5.

Just throwing this out there if anyone is interested. I had an inexperienced friend by tickets to the show (because I was at work) and he got 4 general admission pit tickets. That's not going to work for me because my friend is pregnant and can't stand the entire time. If anyone is willing to trade 4 of their tickets for these please let me know! Thanks.

as a floridian, i did my part - bought 2 and made sure that at least 6 other people got tickets in the pit.  i guess it just won't be as hard to get to the rail.

Haldon

wake,

i'm with you...i'd like for folks to show up to support the band, but if that doesn't happen than thats ok.

i'm just fine with being front row, slightly off center towards stage left, looking up, smiling, and forgetting about the world for 2+ hours

Hey guys/gals

I'm looking for one more GA Pit ticket (for my gf).  I'm not willing to pay the $80+ that stubhub and others like it are charging for the tickets.  If anyone ends up finding that they've got an extra one, I'd be more than willing to purchase it at face value from them.

Let me know.

Can't wait to rock out in St. Augustine.

so i'm doodling around the interwebs today, and see that band of horses is coming to gainesville and playing a free show in april.  i got super pumped b/c they are probably my 2nd favorite band to see live behind MMJ.  well, they are coming to gainesville the night i'm in st. aug. for the MMJ show.  what poor luck!.  i guess i'll have to pay for the orlando show two nights later.  what are the odds that two great bands play the same night about an hour and a half apart in sleepy florida towns?  we NEVER get good shows compared to the rest of the southeast it seems.  but, no complaints b/c i get to see two AWESOME shows in 3 days.

I wonder if they'll be a big walkup for tix for this show. It's still selling real slow.

Ga's are gone but you can get a single in 101 row f, and pairs in 103 row j.  That means only about  half of the 1st level reserves are sold!

I don't want to be a drag but, any chance the Amp or MMJ pulls the plug on this show?

I hope not, I got my flight booked but just wondering if anyone down St Auggie way has some reliable info.

i sure hope they don't pull the show.  it sucks that it is selling slow, but i imagine a lot of kids (like myself) have finals that week of the show.  i have a final the next morning but i'm going over from gainesville anyways.  if you consider the amount of college-aged kids that live near st. aug and go to UF, JU, Flager, etc., i'm sure that a lot of people have had to think more than once whether or not they want to buy their tickets based on their school schedule, and some might be waiting to see if they can make both work.

Good point. I didn't really think about that.

I know my daughter has her last final the day of the show. She'll be ready for a great show by then, I'm sure!

I was so excited when the shows were announced but had to temper that excitement until i got my finals schedule. i was planning to go see a string of shows, but i have a 3 day take home over the weekend when they are in atlanta, an exam the morning after st. aug, and then another friday and won't be able to make it to raleigh in time.

APR

I was also wondering about pulling the show due to ticket sales.  I know it happens on occasion.  I would hate for that to happen, but I'm not buying my plane tickets yet just in case.  Anyone know how far in advance of show dates are decisions to move or cancel made?

Haldon

Ok, so I don't know what everyone else's plans are, but I'll be driving up from Miami on the 27th, and I am trying to figure out what hotel to stay at.

Is there anyone from the area who's got a good recommendation for a place close to the venue, or that is an otherwise good deal.  Or if there is anyone else who has already booked a place that has suggestions, I'll take those as well.

You have my appreciation in advance for your replies.

Thanks,
Haldon

Haldon,

There are hotels at the Beach and others downtown. I don't think there are any real close to the venue, cause it's kinda in between both areas.

I'd say the beach is a little closer. There are quite a few nice places there: Hilton, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, and some friends have stayed at the Best Western for around $75.00 a night. You can't go wrong with any of these.Just depends on your budget. I believe the Hampton Inn also includes breakfast with the room rate,at least they used to.

There's also a Super 8 that might be cheap, but I don't know how nice it is.

There are other hotels by 95 and the outlets, but they're about 10+ miles from the venue.

Search Hotels.com to get an idea of rates, and distance to the Ampitheatre.

thanks brother.

i've never been to st. augustine so I wasn't sure about the lay out of the city and where the decent (see: non sketchy) places were to stay.

ericm

No problem.

I'm there a lot and it's a really cool town. They say it's a drinking town with a fishing problem! 8-)

If you're just there for the show, I'd stay at the beach. If you do, check out The Sunset Grille, great food and cool people.

Plenty of places to hang at the beach pre/post show.

Depending on where you stay at the beach, you'd probably be no more than 2 - 5 miles from the Ampitheatre. Hilton, Hampton, and Best Western are a bit closer than the Holiday Inn.

If you're there for an extra day or so, check out downtown. Oldest  settled city in the country. Settled in 1565 I believe. Some history there for sure, but the Fountain Of Youth is a bit of a letdown, imo.

If you need any info on a specific place or area, let me know, and I'll be glad to tell you what I can.
