I cannot read another one of the (so far) 14 threads dedicated to the 5 nights in NYC without having a place for those of us who can't do it.

I am happy for all who can manage all or most of these historic shows.

I am sad that I cannot manage it without collateral damage.

I wish all who go the best time and expect you to cheer and scream for me in my absence.

I wish I could go, though.

I hope the tapers can work with the band and the venue to bring something back.  Better yet, the bluray boxset.

I love my wife (15th anniversary tomorrow), my job, and my bank balance too much to risk it.

Hell, I'll have 7 live Jacket experiences from this past April through this coming August under my belt.  I can't complain.

Aw, hell!  Where's my credit card?

(just kidding)  ;)

Have fun, melt face, be safe.

The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Amen brother. I might actually take a break for a while from here as this is really bumming me out.

I'm having a hard time coming to the forum as well. I'm bummed out, pissed off and just envious that I can't go. Nobody on here is really talking about anything other than 5,5,5 except for in the 'Other Music' section.

I feel bad for the folks that can't make this work. I'm sure there will be tapers though!

I'm 23, no wife, no rent, good job, and plenty of vacation time. I might as well do this while I still can.

Exactly.  I would if I could, have tried when I shouldn't.  When I was your age, it was the Grateful Dead and others.  Lord knows I've had my fun.  Lucky to be alive, too.

On a side note, I'm getting pumped for this MMJ w/Petty show.  The new Petty is sounding pretty sweet.  Would still prefer Petty open for the Jacket, but as Eric Idle said from the cross...

ha. you guys think you have it bad?  try being a jacket fan in michigan.  sure we've got the british, swedes, etc here that have even less opportunities but imagine being so close to these shows but just far enough way for it to be too much of a pain in the ass?

It's torture.  It's hard to find friends anymore that want to tour, they're all cheap-o's or simply not into mmj enough to be down.  There are plenty of fine folks here I look forward to meeting at some point in the future but fuckin a, play a show in detroit or something.  30-45minute drive max and I can get wasted.  But no they have to be all artsy fartsy about it and play in venues with fancy names and too many hipsters.  what is the world coming to?

I swear to god those shows better be taped and released quickly.  If they aren't I might break the internet.

My Morning Jacket I will see you again and when I do you better be ready to fucking rock.  Get the fuck to michigan, wtf?  at least swing by for a quickie.

can I get a witness?  something? anything?  thanks for this thread johnny I needed to empty my load.

Sticky, I've felt bad for your live Jacket drought since I met ya.  When did you last see 'em?

Maybe you should save some $$$ for a flight or roadtrip to a block of shows.  You're welcome at my place if you'd like to check out NH in August.  We've got Burlington and Holyoke, with a Petty opener in between, during the week of Aug. 20-25.  Just stay the hell away from my kids!

I've always tried to arrange a hotel within stumbling distance of recent concerts.  Unfortunately, I can't do that for the August shows.  I'll be driving back after each one.

Anyway, easier said than done.

I don't think there's anything "artsy fartsy" about not wanting to be in Detroit. Where I come from we call that "survival instincts".
Say friend, you got any more of that good sasparilla?

since 08 man.  it's been years.   fuck saving up money right now to fly around the country I need a house.  it's not like Radiohead where they're skipping us because DTE won't take down the advertisements or something.  I refuse to let MMJ milk me for all I've got.  They can come to me and when they do I'll pay them just like everyone else to rock my fucking face.  until then I will wait for the right opportunity.  it's not like I live in fuckin Iowa, wtf?

either way, I love hearing the stories and experiences from everybody.

oh and hey, fuck you j_rud, that's cold as ice mang.  dtown has the energyz.

I understand it's tough times in MI right now, and I feel for you guys. But the reality is...it's just not a viable market for bands these days. I'm a little bummed/stressed on the reality of what it's gonna take to make this once in a lifetime opportunity actually happen, but when it comes down to it...NYC is exactly the place where this epic event should be going down. Do whatever it takes to get youself there, I doubt you would ever regret it. I hope things turn around for your state soon, lots of great people have come from MI.

I'm not talking about the terminal shows, I'm talking about MMJ 2010 in general.   I don't give a fuck really, it's just nice to bitch about not seeing a great band when you really want to.  I've already posted backing people saying NYC is the best place to have the terminal shows.

to say them playing here is not finacially viable, I don't buy that for one second.  the urban areas of detroit are hurting bad but that doesn't mean the suburbs wouldn't flood the state theater/filmore.  They sold that out in 2008 I'm pretty sure without much problem.  But if you think the demand would be that small shit i'd take another St. Andrews show in a heartbeat.  that show was insane, but alas it is not 04 or 05 anymore.

johnnYYac

Ahhhh...   Ahhhhhhhhhh.....  Bump!

So, how's everyone who's not worrying about the best places to eat and drink in New York City doing?  Again, not bitter.  Just trying to change the subject.  Lots of great moments coming before October.

Looking forward to Yim in July, then three nights of live MMJ in one week in August.  The second time this year I'll experience that.  So, let's not get ahead of our selves.  There's gonna be some rockin' in the mountains of New England in a few months.  Let's tear it up, motherfuckers!  Let's give 'em a reason to come back!  Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

you are absolutely right - there's lots to look forward to.  it seems like the band is more than making up for that drought.  2010 is the year of the jacket.

I doubt I'll be seeing any MMJ until 2011 or 2012.
Well I'm hoping....
How loud can silence get?

Wow now i read of people experiencing several live concerts in only one month, and i hope to see them live once in the next 10 years  :'(
Oh god, please send me $ to get a plane, or let me invent a Europe-USA wormhole or something else SciFi-like to get there  ::)
