Is it wrong to assume a show in Louisville will go down at some point this year?  It's looking like I can swing one MMJ trip this year, and have always wanted to see them on their home turf.  I'm kind of holding out for a L'ville show, but don't want to miss the boat all together if it's not going to happen.  Thoughts?

Quote Thoughts?

i am clinging to the idea that the hometown rock stars will be given the honor of opening the new downtown arena this fall.  the first official event scheduled so far is a U of L womens hoops game vs. tennessee November 12th.   men's hoops vs. butler on the 16th. maybe the powers that be will want to hold an event before then to work out any bugs.....assuming it's finished on time.

nothing but wishful thinking at this point.  but it sure would be cool.

I would expect a Louisville date this year.  I've heard two rumors floating around town.  One was that they were trying to book Freedom Hall.  The other is that they were going to play the new arena in a series of "firsts" and that they would have the honor of being the first rock n roll show that arena has hosted.  I'm fine either way.  But both are just rumors at this point.

I'd come to Louisville for that.
if it falls apart or makes us millionaires

Ditto.

MMJ management will surely take note of these commitments. ;)

Hope they do a hometown show, cause I need to take my sis and brother-in-law to a show.

I want an outdoor show.  In the summer.  On a Saturday.

I was recently down on the river for Waterfront Wednesday. A certain person closely related to the music scene was asked when we could expect a MMJ Louisville show. He pointed in the direction of the Great Lawn and the new arena and said it would be the first time The Jacket will have played the venue in question. Conclusion.............

The YUM! Center is due to open in November of this year.  A NYE gig there (maybe even a two night run) would be perfect with all things considered.  It just makes sense.

Here is a webcam and countdown link on the home page:

NYE in Louisville? I'll start saving my pennies now!
The wind blew me back, via Chicago, in the middle of the night.

NYE would be nice, but traditionally they play Louisville on Thanksgiving and that seems just as likely, but I'm just spitballing here.

Forecastle announced that the Smashing Pumpkins are headlining on Saturday so I'm guessing Forecastle is officially out for those still holding out hope for that one.

If you hadn't 've said it, I would have.
