Who's with me?  Its me, the wife, my best friend and his girl.  Michele, my wife, saw MMJ with me in Boston Sept. 2008.  Greg and Beth are MMJ virgins.

We're in Sec 13 Row A, back a ways, mid-priced tix (with fees and charges, $87 each!).

So, here we go!

Countdown To My Morning Jacket w/Tom Petty

ROLL CALL!!!

There's no way I'd miss them when they come to my neck of the woods.  I'll be at both shows.  Psyched to finally see Petty too!

What Kenny76 said.   No way I will miss them in my home state.   STILL basking in afterglow of Merriweather 5 days later.

Mansfield has to be the worst venue I've ever been to.  Last year for Pearl Jam it was like a fascist state.  No booze in the lot, arrests for violators.  I'd love to see this show but not at Comcast (tweeter, great woods).  a few years back i got stuck in the lot till 2:30 am and the show ended at 10:45 due to curfew.

Were you in the official lot or the big field next door?   I've had much better luck at the private lot.   No prob at all for PJ or any other concert and I'm there a few times a summer.    Of course, it's $40, so whether that's worth it or not to you is your call..... but, you also get out of there within 10 minutes.   Agreed - the official lot is the WORST design bottleneck I've ever seen.    If I go to a show with friends, even if they are trying to save money I volunteer to pay for teh other lot because I hate getting home at 2 am.

Good tip.  If you're going, you'll have to promise we'll meet in this here private lot.  In fact, that is what is going to happen.  It is a fact.

The paid lot next door was just as bad as n the free lot.  But i agree, u must park in the paid lot next door, the first one off i-495.  I think it was $40 to park, but gets you out quick!!

two separate lots that exit to four lanes. That place has always been a nightmare. Only saving grace is that MMJ is opening for Petty, and after their set there's not much more to see. I've seen Petty a few times and once he was fantastic, and the second time it was just a medley of all his hits.

Check out most of the Petty set and get an early start on the driving, or hit the Providence Place Mall on the way back down 95 and go to Dave and Busters.

BUMP!

I hope I've recovered from Vermont!  I've got a lot of driving Saturday to get home, grab the wife, bro, and a friend and head to Mansfield.

I may have an extra ticket for this show, front row of section 13.  I'm waiting to hear back from another forum member, but PM or email me if you might be interested.

Wow.  This thread is buried.  And the most recent Jacket performance.  Fortunately, I was there.

Setlist is a bit foggy (its 2 am, I'm on my brothers deck with laptop, beer, and a cigarette- I'm a concert smoker), so I can't vouch for completeness or correct order, but...

Oh, and a nice little surprise...

Rolling Back intro
Way That He Sings
Gideon
It Beats 4 U
Wonderful

Ready?  Here it comes...

Nashville to Kentucky!!! with a sax solo by Carl (!!!)

Golden
Off The Record
Smokin'
Touch Me 2
Good Intentions > end of Lay Low
Wordless
OBH

Amazing to hear N2K!  Listened to this Tennesee Fire gem on the way home.  What a treat!

The Jacket set was much better attended than Thursday's show, I imagine.  Pretty hefty crowd but a lot of schmucks in the parking lot didn't know what they were missing.

I gotta say, too, that Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were great.  I still think the Jacket (best band IN THE WORLD) should have headlined, but Petty deserves some respect.  And Mike Cambell blazed on guitar all night.

Okay, time for bed.  Night, night, my little Jacket heads...

I'll save the story of the sexy girl on my left for another time.  ;)

Oh, hell.  How about now?

So, there's this lovely lady next  to me, dancing and very sexy.  She's with her boyfriend and all over each other.  During some tunes, we bumped each other while rocking out.

I'm sitting during this one classic Petty tune (don't recall which one).  She says, "Stand up!"  I say, "Why?"  She says, "You know you love this song."  And I reply, "Yes, I do.  So you want me up so I can dance?"  And she says, "I want you up so I can rub my ass on your leg."

:o :o :o

Needless to say, I stood up.

Nothing actually happened after that, and I was a gentleman, but it was a quite a moment.

Goodnight.

HIGH on SOUND

Hahaha. Sounds awesome! Pretty interesting setlist for an opening gig.

The Lay Low jam at the end of Touch Me I'm Going to Scream was mind blowing. Much better concert than Thursday, for MMJ and Tom Petty.

Better crowd too but still meager by MMJ headlining standards.

Thursday was an older crowd, Saturday had a lot more young sexy people.

I say JJ loses the cape though.

Lose the cape? Would you tell, well, nevermind, I'm not going to even say it...

So I guess Nashville to Kentucky wasn't as rare as I thought, considering they played it in San Diego less than two weeks ago!

I went back a ways on the MMJ archive and see it was played last night, 8/11/10 San Diego, 1/28/09 Melbourne, 12/28/08 Chicago, 10/2/08 Minneapolis, etc.  Still fairly rare and a first for me.

Has the Carl/sax bit been a part of it in recent years?  When I listen to TF, I can't say the song says, "I need sax!" though it worked beautifully last night.
