Not long ago, My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James was invited by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to discuss his method during a segment called "The Craft." It's a high honor, considering the reviews of the Jacket's Lollapalooza performance. But why settle to just hear James talk about his craft, and its evolution, when he's ponied up a glimpse on CD? The decade-delayed album from Mont de Sundua -- aka his '90s band Month of Sundays -- provides a healthy taste of a young Jim James. Songs like "Dynamite Explosion" and "Women (The Kind We Like)" have a youthful punk attitude that show an intriguing, less artful side of him. Back then, the singer known as Jim Olliges screamed more and used his distinctive voice less. Here, his voice is grainier and less stable. Predictably, Mont de Sundua's songs weren't as well-crafted as the Jacket's nor were the lyrics nearly as thoughtful. Jacket fans ought to appreciate this album, though, provided they don't unfairly try to hold it up to the standard of "Z." Different band, different era. Sadly, the CD doesn't also include the tracks from Month of Sundays two EP releases, like the exceptional 7-inch "School's Out."

Yeah, that doesn't even make sense.  I mean, I have read every review, seriously, and I might remember one bad one, and it was a friggin' blog.

I think maybe that just came out wrong.   Let's ask him....

especially since this is a local LOUISVILLE magazine, the CD was released in MAY, and this same magazine covered the release party of the CD!!!

He's trying to compare this to MMJ and Jims lyrics. These recordings are old as hell and come from a different band and time in place in Louisville music history. The Velocity is a shitty rag with shitty writers. Just look at the picture of the guy who wrote the review.
