Honest Man. Honest Man. Holy freaking shit, Honest Man. I thought the first 2 nights of the residency might be a little subdued, but if this is any indication, we're in for some balls out blues at Terminal 5.

Say friend, you got any more of that good sasparilla?

Just got home.

got Honest Man!! -- kind of a rarity ... oh and Easy Mornin Rebel!!

Much thanks to tdb810 + hubby, ynwa and fiddle.. Kenny, Headhunter.  It was great to meet you guys.  I had such a great time.

The band was really in the groove.  My wife got facebooked by a friend who saw the band for the first time tonight and was absolutely blown away.

I'm too tired for a coherent review.  My ears are ringing and I've got to pound a few more beers!
...words only got in the way

I have to get up for work in 5 hours and drive right back down to Columbus Blvd (I work right down the street from tonights venue), but there's no way I can fall asleep right now. Not gonna happen. Ass is gonna be dragging tomorrow...

Honest man was ridiculous. During wordless chorus, Jim channeled his inner Randy Watson and gave quite a show. He was the most animated I have ever seen him he looked like he had a great time. He even donned the donkey head  I can't even remember for what song. A little  sad they only played the end of lay low(my favorite), but the rest of the night was out of control. Can't wait to hear the total run thru at T5. My favorite show next to radio city I have ever attended.

Jim danced his ass off, he looked like he was having a blast. I think its the cape. He gets out of control when the cape comes out. At first I didnt like how the mics were set so far back on the stage, but I was front row, dead center, right under Jim whenever he came out. During Run Thru when he stood there bowed he looked like a giant because of how high the stage was. One of the coolest moments I've ever had at a Jacket show. I wanted to take a picture but there was no way I was moving. I just stood there with my arms up and screamed like a lunatic.

Let me elaborate on my earlier thoughts.

Awesome show. Me and my bud Lou seem to always get the same spots, a couple feet right of center and 1 person away from the stage. Awesome. Jim HOVERED over us.

Really great "surprises" in Honest Man, Easy Morning Rebel, It Beats 4 U, etc.

The only disappointing part of the nite (apart from hitting 2 deer simultaneously on the way home) was looking at the gorgeous poster I bought, which is easily my favorite owned one of theirs, and seeing the words on the side, "It's the art of feeling naked in your clothes." Where To Begin would have been such the cherry on top.

I'm SO GLAD you guys had such a blast!! Jim is definitely daaaangerous when that cape comes out  :-X  He did backward tumbles and crazy moves in Pitt the other night, and I MEANT to make a mention of it when we met him, but I became busy trying to figure out which way was up and which way was down at that point... bit gun-shy....

But congrats on your setlist and the whole show in general! Cheers to the best Mahgeetah!  [smiley=beer.gif]

Wish I coulda afforded the hike out to Philly for the night, but a bit broke after roadtrippin!

Fantastic freakin' show last night.  Loved the Rollin' Back intro and wouldn't have minded if they drew that out more; 'twas quite beautiful.  The highlight for me might have been Honest Man.  They absolutely killed the extended bluesy jam into Jim scream into blistering solo.  Go to experience Steam Engine for the first time and I nearly cried--beautiful and intense.

I would have to say the only "complaint" I can muster up is I thought they could/would have played for at least another 30 minutes or so.  They came on at about 8:30 and it was over by 10:30.  When OBH started I figured that was the end and was a little saddened.  Really hoped for Dancefloors but hey ya can't get every dang song.  An amazing show and I left wanting more and that's kind of the point.

Anyone know if there were any tapers in attendance?

Hi, I am new here but I met a few of you last night through my good friend Eric. I just wanted to say it was a pleasure, thanks for your preshow hospitality and I can't wait for the shows in NYC. It was so nice to finally meet and rock out with other fans!

As far as the show goes - what can I say?? They blew me away as always. And I think they literally blew my ears away - they're still ringing! I have a bunch of pictures that I took, once I figure out how to use this forum I'll post them. MMJ are the most exciting live band around these days imho!! This smiley would seem appropriate right about now...

So, I do believe.....

Honest Man

Ears are still ringing. Face is still recovering from the melting. Throat needs some cough drops.I've waited forever to get Honest Man and it was worth the wait. Blew my mind. Easy Morning Rebel and Steam Engine were unreal. Met Tommy and Carl. No words can describe how great the show was. Time to gear up for Terminal 5. :D
The fact that my hearts beating, is all the proof you need.

GREAT night!

thanks to tdb & 8bobbyb for sharing their room & providing a nice spread for the pre-party.  we planned on heading over to the abayye but by the time the last of us trickled in, gates were opening soon so, it just didn't work out.

we got right up to the stage (no barrier/rail!) - slightly right of center.  it was a really good vantage point.  all of my other shows i've been far right and didn't really get a great view of carl.  he sure is a lot of fun to watch.  excellent facial expressions!  tommy looked like such a badass, kinda mesmerizing to watch.  bo looked like he was having a lot of fun up there & boy does he make those keys dance!  jim was a crazed man, kicking out & doing all these fancy saches & funky dance maneuvers.  and when he came out to the front of the stage,  he was RIGHT THERE, smiling down at us (pics to come later).  and yes, he did don the donkey head!!!  the one & only drawback was that i was right behind one of the monitors which almost completely blocked my view of patrick.  so i didn't get to really see him doing his thing.

they sounded so so so good.  phenominal set!  i truly do feel quite spoiled.  probably the best of my recent shows (sorry sis).  highlights for me were honest man (they rocked the fuck out on this), easy morning rebel  :o, golden (i just really love this song), mahgeetah (i concur that it was the best ever!!!) & touch me part 1 (never heard this live before).  steam engine was also the best ever, imho (swoon).

after the show, we waited in the lot by the tour buses & after a little while, 3 ladies came out of one of the buses & one headed over to us & started talking.  she was super nice & was like "wow, you guys have been waiting here for a while, & did you like the show, blah, blah, blah..." and then a few minutes into the conversation, we come to find out she's patrick's wife!  she was such a cool lady & thanked us for coming out.  awesome moment!  then, a little while later, carl walked by w/ his luggage & tdb called out out "snooowwwyyyy braaaamble!" & he turned & looked over w/ a sly grin on his face.  hahaha, so awesome!  he chatted to some other folks for a little while & then signed our posters (posters is very, very cool for this show).  a little after that, bo walked by w/ his luggage & he also stoped & talked to folks for a bit & then signed autographs.  i got an excellent picture of him signing fiddle's 1st keyboard, after he played it a little!!!  he signed all of our posters as well.  so we waited, and waited, and waited a little more for tommy, patrick & jim to make their way over. but, after a little scouting by 8bobbyb, it appeared that the guys were having a little post show party & we figured it might be quite some time before they headed over to the bus.  sadly, we decided to call it a night & all headed off in our separate ways.

the 2 hr drive home went by in a flash & when my alarm went off at 5:50 this morning, i had no trouble getting out of bed.  i even got to work with time to relax a few minutes & get myself situated, even though i stopped for coffee on my way in  ;)

fantastic night.  hung out with some wonderful people.  met some new faces & honestly, every single person i have had the pleasure of meeting & hanging out with has been so nice & kind & FUN!  al different walks of life but everyone is just so down to earth & excited that the other person loves this band too.

cooljane - we were rockin out right next to each other.  i saw the pics you got & i want them!!!!  check your PM.

AWESOME STORY YNWA!!!!! It gives me all the goosebumps right back!! (Or maybe it just added more to the ones that've permanently taken up residence on my epidermis hahah)

I can't wait to see this thing Mr. Fiddle had signed! Hahah it sounds pretty gnarly!!

Sweet you got to meet Patrick's wife too, very cool!! Great snowy bramble shout too heh  8-)  Sounds like lots of fun fan-friends (say it 3 times fast!) were there to rock out together too!  ;D

And man you just can't go wrong when the next day is smooth sailing! It's like the icing on the cake.......

Glad everyone killed it in Philly!! Brotherly & Sisterly love comin on strong!! Thanks for the sweet reviews!! [smiley=laugh.gif]
