riends,

As you know, the EPA is conducting a series of public meetings to accept input on possible new regulations on the storage and disposal of coal ash.  This follows the huge disaster at the TVA coal-fired power plant in Kingston TN, where over 1 billion gallons of toxic materials spilled into tributaries of the Tennessee River.

We are asking that coal ash be classified as a hazardous waste, which will greatly strengthen the requirements for handling and storing this toxic material.

The next public hearing will be Tuesday Sept 28 in Louisville KY at the Seelbach Hotel, downtown.  You may make public comment between 6-9:00 PM that day (all other times for speaking slots are full).  To sign up, go to:

http://www.sierraclub.org/coal/ky

There will be a rally at 5:00 in front of the Seelbach, corner of 4th and Muhammed Ali in Downtown Louisville.

It's great that Jim is playing.  But for those that go, remember that this is an important issue.  If you go, go for the cause, and be thankful that Jim is there too.  Don't just go for Jim.

true. this is obviously why it hasn't been announced as a show anywhere... i posted this here because i don't feel like there are any disrespectful fans in these forums.

I'm heading down there shortly.  But again...it's more about the cause than the show.  I wouldn't sweat it unless you feel like marching.   :-/

He only played one song, but it was a good one: Look at You.  It was a good rally and Wendell Berry's speech was great.  Pretty cool to see two living legends in the same place for a great cause for free.

I would have been there to demostrate had I known! That's what I get for not checking the board. So great he sang look at you. I actually used that song in a Darfur video documentary I made for a global policy class last year. As a social worker Ive always thought the song had a beautiful and empowering message. No worries this was for educational purposes only and all credits and rights reserved to JJ. Ha look at me covering my ass!
