Tremendous Upside

Reposting this from another forum where I described tonight:

And so it ends...

99 songs and one repeat (more on that later)

Got there a bit earlier (about 7:20) and found the group that I now call my My Morning Jacket Family

Just an awesome group of peeps who I hung with all week

They ushered me over and I was right behind the rail, dead center

AWESOME

Such a wonderful sense of community...there was a mom and 16 yr old son to my right...He was awesomely knowledgeable about MMJ and music, and was uber excited

A band called Everest opened, and they were tremendous...really got us ready for the show

MMJ came out about 15 mins earlier than they had (about 9:15), and I have to say, Evil Urges is MUCh better live, especially the back half

We were partying and grooving and having a great time

Was a awesome excitement the whole night

Encore came quick and they started with Circuital and Friends Again, two new songs that sounded AWESOME

Then they played Carried Away, a Carl song...again, really liked it

They played a sweet song (wonderful) that JJ wrote with M Ward)

Then it was on

Tonight I want To Celebrate With You >> Oh Sweet Nuthin (Jeebus, 2 VY covers this run??!?!?!? SICK)>> Hot Fun in the Summertime >> Carnival TIme

Then they broke out Move On Up and it was sick

I thought it was over as the band left the stage, but the house lights didn't come on...

After a minute they came back out and ripped through a jubilant, triumphant, spectacular One Big Holiday (the week's only repeat) that brought the house down

So amazing..I will remember this week the rest of my life...it was that special

Met some new friends, saw some amazing music, and most importantly reaffirmed the positive power of music and community

I hope they release these officially, but there is a ton of good stuff on you tube

Go get it!

I am a little concerned that I am going to go to T5 tomorrow night out of habit

Oh me oh my!! I cannot believe there was 10 encores, that is unreal.  Especially after playing through an entire full length album.  They know what is up.

Monsters of folk this time last year included 30 songs, 5 encores, and my head exploding after yim sang "master's voice".  I could only imagine how wonderful y'all felt after he played the way he feels.  man o man.

Circuital and Carried Away were most definitely the highlights of my night in Chitown this year. Sooooo silky smooth, just makes ya wanna melt : )

Smoking from a Shooting had to be nuts, and then OBH on top of the pile just for shits and gigs is too legit to quit.

Track of the night had to go to Good Intentions tho for sure, because lord knows mmj has only the best of intentions and with no apprehension.  Sooo happy y'all got to experience that.  Post some vids so we can get on that like white on rice.  Bitte!! Bitte!!

Been following it all week, thanks for keepin tabs.  Happy Holidays!!!!

99 Songs! Only One Repeat! 100 would have tipped the world of its axis _most certainly, thanks for keepin the future in mind boys!!!!
There will be Bigotry and Open Minds*
There will be days of Peace~
I hope you have the Time^

smoking from shooting was fucking perfect last night.  best night of the 5 imho.  love love love!

Amazing show. Circuital is an amazing song. That place was going nuts when obh started. Great way to end the week.

Buddy saw a tree there last night, but the rumors is that a reliable taper was blocked by T5 security during ISM so the other tapers backed down during Z

long time lurker folks.  just a special week of music.  one that i will never forget.  thank you to the band and its beautiful fans.

here's to the jacket in '10 and beyond!

Ruckus

That was the 5th Move on Up I'd seen and I'd have to say easily my favorite.  The energy on the floor throughout the night was special.

Carnival Time also had so much more energy than it did during the spring tour.

Oh Sweet Nuthin' was something else!

I survived Two Halves ;)

I thought they might do a multiple song 2nd encore but oh well.  That OBH was fun nonetheless.

So it ended.  99 different songs.  I hope EVERYTHING pre EU is put back into rotation now
Can You Put Your Soft Helmet On My Head

Dillsnufus

I hope they do this again soon. It'd probably be west coast or Europe but still a good time.

I forgot to mention how awesome Everest was!  They usurped the best opening act of the week title with that rockin' set.  As I kidded to JYac after the set, the loudest Bo would be in the mix was while he was sitting in with Everest.

The 2nd to last song they played was fantastic. I'm a sucker for double drums

well that sure sucks, what is mmj's official taping policy?

As long as you're not going soundboard or selling them, they're OK with it. They even have links to their recordings from the archive on their main page

I MUST see them again!  They were fantastical!
.....Back at the Model Home

FiddleCastro

What a night, and what a trip home, involving a lot of drunk people, and our train being held one stop from mine because of a fight that broke out RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. It was so ridiculous. We ended up getting home at 4....

But what a great show, Definitely my favorite second set of the week, and I had a cool vantage point up on the balcony, and Everest was so awesome, too.
I NEEDED IT MOST WHENEVER tbh
