Went Roo 08 alone, also NYE 08.  Never felt alone for a second at either show.  Just curious do you go to shows alone?  Would you?

e_wind

just the app voices show in lexington earlier this year. I don't know if I'd be happy going to a NYE show alone, but if it was the only way I could go I'd do it.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

Ghosts_on_TV

I watched roo '06 alone, even though I was at Bonnaroo with like 12 people. Met some fine folks that night.
Some girls mothers are bigger than others girls mothers...

I would give my extra ticket to an mmj virgin.   I would never buy just one ticket.  I either buy 2 or 4.  If for some strange reason that was the only way, I would definitely do it.
Y'all got any disco ball back there?

ALady

Taste of Chicago '06?  I think that's it.

Stretched out on a blanket in the grass. It was nice.
if it falls apart or makes us millionaires

I travel a lot for work, and always check the local music schedule wherever I'm at. Over the past several years I've gotten lucky a few times. Beastie Boys, Tom Petty, Flight of the conchords, Further (ran into old friends), jackie Greene, John prine, plenty of others I'm forgetting. Went by myself...much better than sitting in my hotel room.

subinai

You guys definitely made it super extra special!! I think I made it back into town just the very night before! Fresh from Louisville, as I forged it into my route home  8-) Shewt, I plugged some serious miles on the way back... just to catch a special hometown show for myself hahah that doesn't even make sense.  But I made it, thank jeebiss. And thank him also for lettting us converge to form a pillar of fandom on the rail!!! What a special setlist.......damn.  And the crowd was friggin wild, and it takes a lot to stir Pittsburghers up!! I'd love to do it again for sure!

I used to go to most shows alone, it makes for meeting folks that much more likely. MSG, NYE08, ....That is until I met the husband at a Jacket show. Now I cant get rid of him. ;) :-?
My jacket's gonna be cut slim and checked

I always imagined going alone, and would do so in a heartbeat, but Bob always wants to tag along :)  I can't figure if it's his sheer love of the band, or his suspicion that I may run off with them  ::) ::)

After all the fun I had going alone at the T5 shows, unless I'm going with my wife, from now one I'm going alone.  MMJ fans are more fun to hang with at an MMJ show than my friends who are only casually into the band.

I need to be with nuts like all of you   :D

As the year winds down, certainly many (if not most) of my year's highlights were spent those 5 wonderful october nights.

miss you guys
was some shakin' and some record playin'

I went to my first show with my wife (Boston '08). Since then, I've struck out on my own for 5 of the next 9 shows.

For the opening of their spring tour in 2010, I travelled from NH to Birmingham, Nashville, and Atlanta solo.

HOWEVER, minutes after checking in to my hotel in Birmingham, I'm in Seth's (scosby2) livingroom, listening to MMJ vinyl and we became instant friends.

Nashville was a bit lonely at first, but met Rowan (flyguy), Chris (CrispY), and a few other forum folks pre-show at the Flying Saucer, then met Dylan (aMillionDreams), Maggie (ALady), and a bunch more forum folks inside Memorial Auditorium.

Atlanta was on my own until I pulled my Omnichord out of the trunk of my rental car.  Turned out the people next to me included a forum member, Thomas (EasyWay), and we hung out in the lot and in the show.  Great and generous people!

Arrived solo in Vermont but got a ride from the hotel to the show from Liz (ynwa) and Laura (lil sis), then met Trish & Bob (tbd810 and 8bobby8), Eric (ericm), and a ton of others in the show.

Finally, drove to NYC for T5 #5 on my own, but I was never truly alone, meeting the great Jeff (headhunter), to whom I am forever grateful.  Of course, once arrived at T5, forum folks came out in force and I felt as if I had attended the show with dozens of good people, for whom the term "friend" seems appropriate.

I also know I will never go to any future Jacket shows alone, 'cause at least one of you nutjobs will be there.  How awesome is that?
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

headhunter

John-  I suspect none of us will every truly be alone at an MMJ show.  There will be plenty of us "nutjobs" at each one and I am very excited about all the (hopefully) many shows we attend together next year.

Next show on the list - -  Trish&Bobfest - -  see ya'll there!

I went to see PJ in May of 06 with a bunch of friends, all huge PJ fans.   MMJ was opening.

While we were pregaming across the street from the Fleet Center, I tried to talk those guys into joining me to see MMJ.   They all chose to stay for another round of beer and pizza.    No-one else had heard of them or had any interest.  So I went in myself and saw them by myself.   Loved every (too-short) minute.

One of those people, Sean "Riley", has since seen the light and now calls MMJ his favorite band (and he's a big music fan).   Quite a few forum peeps have met him as he joined me in NYC and MD.   I remind him regularly how badly he blew it way back then.    I never get tired of asking him "Did you know Vedder joined MMJ onstage?? for the 100th time.

Same here, I also met a few people. I'm not sure which reality they existed in though.
I'm surrounded by assholes
