This show is being fluffed big time.
I have been a life long Louisville resident
and been seeing this band since the beginning.

This show was very "meh"
Crowd sucked. Stop talking and singing
so loud. Patrick didn't change a thing about
his drumming. He was playing along to the
tunes like the full band was there. My whole
crew did not buy this show. It seemed unrehearsed
and a pity party for a soon to be closed business.

I am over the head banging. Time for a new gimmick.
Now I know why I don't really listen to this band anymore.
Just thought I would get a better performance than this.
The opener was terrible. Gideon and all the other rock
songs just lacked substance. Golden and Bermuda Highway
were great as always.

No encore tells me Jim was not all that into this show either.

Thanks for the ticket September.

If you're trollin'...fair enough.  Otherwise, an honest thank you for an objective counterpoint.  Much appreciated because it made sense to me, is needed, and I really celebrate it. :)

I'm sorry September wasted the ticket.

For some, an unrehearsed appearance by 2 Louiville residents who just happen to be 40 percent of My Morning Jacket, in honor of a local record store, sounds pretty sweet, along with the other acts and all for $20!  These guys showed on the day after Christmas, not to promote themselves but to support a struggling local business.  For many Jacket fans, especially during a stretch without any significant touring, we take what we can.

And, no offense, but I get the sense that "life long Louiville residents" who have been "seeing this band since the beginning" often come across as a bit elitist to some sad fuck middle aged New Englander who just discovered MMJ two years ago.

As skyisburning says, "to each his own."

Man elitist are the worst people ever. I don't understand the point of people just trying to bring others down.

Right, because all Southern people are generally less intelligent than you.

That one you got of Jim's shadow while Patricks arms are moving faster than the speed of light is my favorite.

Look at what I started!  Perhaps "elitist" was a poor choice of words.  I just figure prefacing your comments with "lifelong Louisville resident" who changed Jim's diapers is supposed to give us a sense that your opinion matters more.

Opinions are like assholes, a wise man once said (Ghandi?)- everyone's got one.  The thing is, you don't have to spread your cheeks to show us.

I will say, I respect his opinion that the show was underwhelming for him.  I just didn't care for the dissing of others' praise.
The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Awesome shots man!

I'm watching these videos and laughing to myself right now. That OBH was so out of control. Jim's bass windmills and general raging around 4:10 tells me he was VERY much into the show.  I've never seen a bass get played or sound like that.

Scott Carney's "Psycho Killer" was excellent, especially considering I listened to the Talking Heads greatest hits like 3 times on the way down.

The Watson Twins did it for me! I'll say they sound as good as they look and their Buddy Guy cover to close out their set was marvelous.

Cabin! They had a KICK ASS sound. Got to shake hands with the drummer pre show, really nice guy.

Ben Sollee was good but I would have enjoyed his set MUCH more if it were quieter.

It was super cool hanging with Jim's folks and his Aunt and Uncle before the show too. Really nice people, they liked the Christmas sweater crew we had going.

It was a special night for sure. Wonderful to hook back up with darkglow and meeting everyone I did before hand was amazing. This night was another fine example of how MMJ fans make their shows that much more special.

Great night!  All the openers were fantastic but there was too much talking going on during the acoustic sets.

Jim and Pat rocked it out.  What a unique experience! I feel blessed to get to witness yet another special night with the Jacket in da Ville.

I got to introduce the gang that met up to ex-drummer KC Guetig as well as Jim parents.  They didn't embarrass me TOO much. At least I don't think.  :-\

It was pretty cool because at the preshow meetup TwoFingers mentioned he had Psycho Killer in his head and we talked about the awesomeness that is David Bryne.  Then we get to the show and I ask Scott Carney what he's planning on playing.  He pulls out a list of 6 or 7 songs and said I'm going to play four of these.  When I saw Psycho Killer I told him he HAD to play it.  He closed with it and it killed.

It was great to see the forum peeps and meet some news one.  We had a blast!

Kory, amazing work with the camera as always, brother!
