What are some good shops in Nashville? I'll be there tomorrow for a day or so with my wife and kid. We are looking for some cool shops. We're planning on going to Grimeys to pick up some CDs and to The Great Escape to look for some comics and various other things (that place is huge!).
We'll probably also hit Tower Records and a mall or two, but we were wondering about some other cool places to spend some dough.
Any suggestions?

go down to broadway, down by the Gaylord Entertainment Center. There's all kinds of great crap to do right there. I would highly suggest Rippy's BBQ, right on the corner. ITs great stuff.

You should go to Hatch Show printers on the main strip.  I went there and found the most amazing things.  They're the guys who made all the original posters for the big shows - and they print to order.

I have postcards from that shop that are in my room.  I was going to give them to people, but then I realized that I love them too much.

I also recommend that you AVOID the Motel 6 with the Hooters and the Waffle House.  When we all got up in the morning, one of the cars parked outside had its windsheild smashed in.  Don't get fooled by the "family fun" beach volleyball court.  It is not fun, and it shouldn't be family-oriented.

Nashville seemed weird to manoevre around...

(I also recomment NOT going to Opryland.  It's depressing and gross and full of crap.  Now, if the Ryman is open....)

I have a friend who used to work at Hatch, i think. I would also highly suggest Visisting Gruhn guitars down on Broadway, and Chambers guitars out in Franklin (or Cool Springs, i guess) if your out that way. There's tons of touristy crap right on that main drag, but also some rockin barbeque. Check out the Wild Horse Salon on a friday or saturday night.

Can't wait till next year, when I'm LIVING there for college. mmmm...it's gonna rock. I'm gonna tyr and get a job with Gibson doing some of the work with their guitar building.

Holy crap.  I hope you get to do that.  Wow.

I already work in a guitar repair shop. I'm hoping maybe they have scholarship money for future luthiers, especially ones going through college. Maybe I can talk them into it? I suppose I can find some sort of job in Nashville with the experience I have already.

Yeah!  Rippy's BBQ rocks!  The south can't be beat when it comes to a good, smoked Hog. :)

I was just there Saturday...

I suggest B.B. King's. Good food, good music, and a great bluesman who plays on the sidewalk near b.b.'s.

He is there every night.
Hold my life until I'm ready to use it
