Kate and Anna McGarrigle

Just saw them in concert tonight.  Absolutley fucking beautiful.  Do you guys know these ladies?  They're famous for loads of reasons outside of their music.  Kate is Rufus and Martha's Mom, and she was also married to Loudon Wainwright the III.  

Anyhow, my favourite record of theirs is Love Over and Over, but their Matapedia album is really great, too.  Emmylou sings a lot of their songs.  And they all sing together sometimes.  Same with Linda Rondstadt, I think.

Anybody else a fan?  Anybody else know 'em?  If you don't, I recommend them.  Folky, frenchy, harmonies with loads of instruments and really soulful voices.

First heard them years ago.  Favourite of mine was the album 'Dancer with Bruised Knees'.  Wrote some excellent songs, like 'Talk to me of Mendocino'.  Really like 'Heart like a Wheel'.

The whole wainwright clan is performing in belgium within a few months.  I've got already my tickets for Loudon.

He's absolutely great.  

I have to dig out his other family members, though.
