Okay, okay, I'm sorry to hype it up, but actually it's only Jim, Bo, and Tom who made it, they cut out Patrick and Carl (which is a shame) but they used the promo pic from Evil Urges..... I guess there gonna be the "breakthrough" act of 2008.... or so that's what Rolling Stone thinks, and we all know they are the "experts" on these matters.... check it out here: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/20200609
First Show: 05/22/06 Most Recent: 08/19/23 Total: 12

I figured this was coming.  It's total bullshit they didn't put Carl and Patrick on the cover.  I am glad Bo didn't get shafted again.  :)

Congrats & (obviously!) well deserved. Real shame that Patrick & Carl didn't make the cover. Can't wait to see it!

"Look mum we're on the cover of Rolling Stone!!! Well I'm not but the band is...you know, we are...well I'm not but..."
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

OK, maybe not "headlining" the cover. But RS is raving, they have the cover of Spin, SNL and RCMH, and the first single is already conquering radio.

Yeah, they're about to break BIG.
In another time, in another place, in another face

Ha, I thought they got the whole thing.  I guess it still counts......

Well, we big rock singers, we got golden fingers, and we're loved everywhere we go.
(That sounds like us)
We sing about beauty and we sing about truth at ten thousand dollars a show.
We take all kind of pills to give us all kind of thrills but the thrill we've never known
Is the thrill that'll getcha when you get your picture on the cover of the Rolling Stone.

Rolling Stone – wanna see my picture on the cover-
Stone- wanna buy 5 copies for my mother-
Stone- wanna see my smilin' face
on the cover of the Rolling Stone.
(That's a very good idea...)

I got a freaky old lady name a' Cocaine Kitty who embroiders on my jeans.
I got my poor old gray-haired daddy
drivin' my limousine.
Now it's all designed to blow our minds
but our minds won't really be blown
like the blow that'll getcha when you get your picture on the cover of the Rolling Stone.

Rolling Stone- wanna see our pictures on the cover-
Stone- wanna buy 5 copies for our mothers-
Stone- wanna see my smilin' face
on the cover of the Rolling Stone.

ROCK AND ROLL!
(Aw, that's just beautiful)

We got a lotta little teenage blue-eyed groupies
who do anything we say.
We got a genuine Indian guru
who's teachin' us a better way.
We got all the friends that money can buy
so we never have to be alone.
And we keep getting' richer but we can't get our picture
on the cover of the Rolling Stone

Rolling Stone- wanna see my picture on the cover-
Stone- wanna buy 5 copies for my mother-
Stone- wanna see my smilin' face on the cover of the Rolling Stone.

On the cover of the Rolling...

Angry Ewok

They'll have the cover this year.
--- and that's 2 real 4 u.

Penny Lane

I'm confused. They were on the cover of the last issue (spring preview album?) it was a bigger pic than that...
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

No, Jack White, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were on the cover.  MMJ's name was on the cover, and pics and statements sprinkled throughout, but not the cover.  I agree with Ewok, they will have the cover...although prolly not until closer to album release time.

Kimbos_Evil_Bread

that is wonderful.  I saw this band when there was no one in the audience but their family and a few friends.  And they keep getting better with each album.

Congradulations fellas!

I see conor is right next to them. I wonder what he's up to this year. (well, I kind of know, being that he has a solo album coming out plus the album with Jim and M., but no real details have surfaced yet...)

so is it confirmed that "Two Halves" is getting radio air play?

i thought it had only been confirmed for one station in Michigan (or some place like that).
If you're lucky, MMJ will fill the void you didn't even know you ever had. If you're luckier, you'll get to see them live.

I'm starting to worry that maybe Jim and M. were just do some recording for Conor's new solo album.   Could they just be part of the studio version of his Mystic Valley Band?
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

Following the link to RS, somebody posted this in the comments section:

Consumer Guide Reviews:
It Still Moves [ATO, 2003]
It's touching to watch the latest indie-rock generation flail around in search of a form, spouting sincerely all the while. But it's also depressing. Like the emo guys, Louisville's Neil-ish Jim James has the advantage of normal feelings and ambition--he's not content to remain subcultural. He claims his Dave Matthews-sponsored major-label debut was his chance to make a true band record, and I guess his boys are trickier than Crazy Horse, just not in any way you haven't heard before. Then there's his filtered drawl, his straitened tune sense, his lyrics you feel cheated straining for, his 12 songs in 72 minutes. For what? For the horrible Memphis Horns coda of "Easy Morning Rebel," plodding on funklessly for two minutes after the vocal has gone the way of all reverb? C
Z [ATO/RCA, 2005]
Mindlessly arresting pop of moderately original flavor ("It Beats for You," "Off the Record"). **

Apparently these were written by Robert Christgau, who clearly is defined by the phrase 'doesn't get it'. "funklessly"? Really?
"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

I agree with some of his points. For instance, I'm not a fan of the studio version of "Off The Record". Live however is another thing entirely.

But haters of MMJ can be pretty intense. I'd rather have someone intensely hate quality than not care about a band's music at all.
