From what I understand the chicago shows throw some interesting wrenches in the lottery.  Everyone has a shot at winning tickets for GA, after that those that are left have the same opportunity for the lower level if they chose it, then the remaining folks have a chance to get upper box tickets.  From what I understand those that get tickets in the lower level are seated in order by seniority and then the same for the upper boxes.  And it's every person for themselves in the GA.

I'm hoping the fall tour does not have these kind of seating levels, get back to the arenas and have the lottery just dictate whether I get fan club tix.

Sorry to hear that... good luck with the public sale.  I'll be curious to see how my friends on fb made out.

Wishing I would've tried for Lower Level also, but all is good! Wrigly is huge! Ill be there!

By the way, PJ fans, I have a bone to pick..... WHY does everyone hate Riot Act? There are at least 10 great songs there...

No hate on Riot Act here... it was actually the album that brought me back into the PJ fold and started the drain on my future savings!  A lot of songs on that album are great live, better than Avacado and Backspacer in my opinion.

It was the album that brought me into the Pearl Jam fold. I had grown up listening to the first 3 records, but RA is what made me "get" that they are one of the best bands ever. It was the first record of theirs that I bought when it came out, too. Because im younger, I guess i was just in the right time to love it, but it remains a favorite of mine. I think there are only 2 categories of PJ records The greats: Ten, Vs, Vitalogy, No Code, Yeild, Riot Act and the goods: Avacado, Binaural, Backspacer. I don't know what I would do with Lost Dogs, cause I don't really consider it an album.

and, our very own Devil Ledbetter won GA floor tix to Wrigley!

lost the lottery.. oh well.

APR

The lottery is tough.  Just too much demand.  I'm concerned about getting tickets for the fall shows now..... especially for a second or third choice show (as I'd like to go to a few if possible).

As far as Riot Act, people just don't like it as much compared to PJ's other albums.  I don't think its' hated at all.   There are a lot of incredible songs (All or None is one of their best mellow songs ever) on there, and I love the album too.  It just isn't in their "greatest" category.  For me personally, that starts with No Code and Vitalogy.

pjfan04101

I think it's a great album and was a great tour as well.  I did 7 shows and there were some diverse setlists.

And to think that the 3 b-sides were Down, Undone, and Otherside?  Riot Act is a great album that could have been even better.  Replace Help, Help, Bushleaguer, and Get Right with those 3 and you have a masterpiece.

Come Closer

Well said APR, it's all relative. And subjective of course. You see all kinds of opinions re ranking their albums. I like most of the songs on Riot Act and love the b-sides.

Pearl Jam was probably the first band I truly loved and still do. Not a lot, at least in my opinion, comes close to a PJ concert. I've noticed looking through setlists that a lot of bands play very similar setlists night after night. One of the things I have always enjoyed about Pearl Jam is each time you see them it is different. My favorite album is probably yield. I like Riot Act a lot. I tried to listen to them multiple times but I haven't been fond of the last two albums, but some people seem to really love them so I'm not dissing anyone for it.

sweatboard

I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan and I Love Backspacer.

I would rank Riot Act and Avacado as my least favorite...to much brain not enough heart.....the Bush years

I listen to Avocado a lot and Riot Act is probably my favourite PJ album. I think I listen to Backspacer the least. I should give it another chance.
How loud can silence get?

MrWhippy

Interesting discussion on Riot Act.

Another thing regarding PJ albums, I'm a bit surprised by the very high regard that hardcore PJ fans give to No Code.  I've always wondered if part of that is just being defiant, given how the mainstream sort of rejected that album.

I think No Code is very good and has some of my favorite PJ songs (Off He Goes, Red Mosquito, Present Tense), but also has a bunch of experiments that range from OK to serious failures (e.g., Who You Are, Mankind, I'm Open).  I also don't think the big rockers work all that well, particularly Habit and Lukin.  So, a pretty uneven album on the whole.

If any of you are in the "No Code is the best PJ record" camp, I'd love to hear your argument for that.
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

APR

I just think No Code works well as an album and all fits together.  Some albums (by any band not just PJ) seem to be a bunch of 10 or 12 songs to make up 45 minutes.   With good headphones and the volume up you can hear incredible texture in every song on No Code.  If they released Hail, Hail instead of Who You Are as the first single, then I think the mainstream would have fell for the album.   I like when PJ is defiant and does something less predictable.

Throw in the fact that No Code has probably my two favorite all time songs PJ songs (Present Tense and In My Tree), that it gets the nod as #1.  I love the rockers, espcially Lukin and Hail, Hail at a live show.  Sometimes is a great opening song to set the mood and I don't think there is a clunker on the entire album.

 Yep! I got pit. And now I have to officially quit complaining about Ten Club for another year. I hadn't had any Ten Club good luck since I got those Vic tickets in '07.

E_wind, are you going to try for general sale tix, or sit this one out?
We understand it's the '90s.

I'm definitely still gonna try to be there
