Hey guys....first post. Just getting into MMJ. I'm going to Bonnaroo for the first time and have been doing some research on bands I'm not familiar with and MMJ was one of those.

Can anyone recommend a few good songs for me to checkout on YouTube that are considered their best songs and everyone's favorite? Thanks!

Also, what is considered to be their best album?

Where do I start????  Get a copy of It Still Moves and Z, sit back and relax.  Their Bonnaroo 2006 show was the best concert I have ever seen and I've been going to concerts since 1979 and have seen 40+ Dead shows.

I love too many of their songs to recommend one.

Here are my youtube videos from Nov 2006 in Milwaukee.  Keep in mind that the quality is about 1/10 of the original.

They are a not miss band at Roo.

go to you tube and watch every video, and then go out and buy every album..that is my advice.

pick up okonokos the band's live album.  it's a terrific group of songs pulled from many of their albums.  this will give you a taste of what their live show is like.

from there you can pick a studio album or two to check out.

i also recommend the bonnaroo '04 show.  it might still be avail. for purchase/download at the b'roo site.

have a rad time at bonnaroo!!

I would dig around here as well:

But that'd be a better idea once you get a little more well-acquainted with the band.

As for songs, you definitely need to see this:

^^^Their live American TV debut, and sweet Jesus was it ever a debut! Conan's reaction is my favorite.

Hmmm... I'd highly suggest picking up a copy of It Still Moves as a good starting point. It's really a good launching pad for moving back and then forward through their work. It all depends on what else you dig, or what kind of attitude or atmosphere you're looking for out of their music. Describe that for me and I'll help direct you toward it a bit further...

As for my personal favorite song? At the moment, it's a three-way tie between "Butch Cassidy from The Tennesee Fire, "Lay Low" from Z, and "Steam Engine" from It Still Moves.

Let me know what kidn of sound you're currently diggin' on or hoping for and I'll do my best to help guide you!

try to get on the rail and get up in all the krunk that will be going down in front stage. Seeing them live is a spiritual experience. Then, don't bathe for 3 months, let all that krunkiness get into your vertebrae. And say goodbye to your old self.
