Hey guys,
The new album comes out tomorrow. Be sure to pick it up!
Here's a short promo video that I did for the guys.
http://www.vimeo.com/3230752
It's on Youtube also, but the compression is better on Vimeo.
There's an EXTENDED version of the video as well, but it's having some synch issues on Vimeo , so it's not "live" yet.

anyone in nashville going to his free in-store at grimey's? i bet you can get his album a few hours early if ya go.
http://grimeys.com/
i wanna get there, but i got no food, no job, my pets' heads are falling off...
That's awesome. Good work, Corey!
Olwiggum - now there's a name I haven't heard in a while!
Thanks for this, great work Corey :)
Thanks, y'all. Be sure to pick up that album. It's fantastic.
Also, as soon as Vimeo gets my synch issue worked out, I have a longer version of the promo that will be online that includes interviews with the rest of the band.
Just ordered the new album.
Hope he tours Europe this year. Last time around the London show was fantastic.
I don't want to say for sure, but there is a very good possibility that they will be overseas this Summer. I think they're trying to put that together.
Picked up the new record at Ear X-tacy here in Louisville, good stuff!
Love the new album, seeing them Tues night..can't wait.

There's a link to the longer, more in-depth video. It has interviews with the rest of the band and some candid footage. Check it out! Hope y'all dig it.
Thanks in advance for the video, lookin forward to seeing it.

Great show tues night!
Isbell's Southern style works like a charm
By Sarah Rodman
Globe Staff / February 26, 2009
CAMBRIDGE - Although the repetition of the shout eventually made it irritating, it was hard to disagree with the sentiment. "Now that's how you play rock 'n' roll!" a fan fervently proclaimed throughout Jason Isbell's deeply gratifying performance at T.T. the Bear's Tuesday night.
Isbell's 90-minute show was pretty much a crash course in getting it right. Sporting crisp Western wear and slinging impeccably heated guitar solos, Isbell wailed in a rasp that showcased both emotional heft and admirable technique, proffering lyrics that could break hearts on the first listen. (The only sour note was the nearly 45-minute-late start time).
Considering his hitch with the brawny, brainy Southern rockers the Drive-By Truckers, it's not surprising Isbell has brought confidence and humility to his solo albums and performances. That includes his recent sublime eponymous release.
Tuesday night with his group the 400 Unit, Isbell's solo material proved slightly more controlled than that of his previous group. The occasional pop tune bubbled to the surface as he located his niche in the spot where Steve Earle, Ryan Adams, Son Volt, and Ray LaMontagne converge - an excellent playground that found Isbell spewing vitriol over accusatory riffs, crooning to rippling organ fills, and veering into rip-snorting, honky-tonk stompers. Songs like the sultry "No Choice in the Matter" were steeped in swampy Southern rhythm and blues waters, and the walloping "Cigarettes and Wine" skewed toward classic country rock.
Isbell's Southern manners showed not only in his music but in his genial stage demeanor, as he introduced his band with old-timey charm and thanked the crowd with respectful head nods.
The singer-songwriter didn't ignore the Drive-By Truckers fans in the crowd, though. Many prayers were answered, judging by the giddy reception and spirited accompaniment to the grand gothic rumination "Danko/Manuel" and the scorching anthem "Outfit."
A left-field cover of "Psycho Killer" by Talking Heads, capably sung by the guitarist, was an odd fit but too irresistible to annoy. Better still was Isbell's heartfelt rendition of Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic," which ended the night on an elegant grace note.
Opener Deer Tick, from Providence, drew a sizable crowd of its own - a good quarter of whom left before Isbell took the stage - for a quirky set of earnest yet warped singer-songwriter fare, mountain music, and Ritchie Valens covers.
Nice! Did you catch Deer Tick? What'd you think?
QuoteNice! Did you catch Deer Tick? What'd you think?
They weren't bad..they did some cool covers. A rocked up version of Santo & Johnny's Sleepwalk was good.
Saw Isbell (for the 3rd time) last night at Headliner's. Unbelievable!
Even if you aren't familiar with his music, go to a Jason Isbell show if he comes near by. He is one of the best guitarists...ever. His songs are so good (especially if you understand the South). Big sweeping guitar hooks and a guaranteed solo in just about every song...maybe two ;).
His shows are considerably inexpensive ($15), considering the high prices I've been paying to see good shows, yet you get the feeling that you're witnessing something very special...and that's because you are.
No offense to Drive-By Truckers, but with the spilt, I pick Isbell everytime. Don't get me wrong, I love Patterson and Cooley, but all the good songs are Jason Isbell's...and by God he plays 'em at his shows.
So if he comes into town, throw on some jeans and boots, play the part, and get ready for some rock n roll...southern style! Why not? You won't know anybody there anyway.
PS- I thought Deer Tick kicked ass!
Cool! Glad you had a good time, Love Dog...and I'll agree, I just love those Isbell songs on the old DBT records. Really looking forward to seeing him at SXSW next week! I've heard good things about Deer Tick as well; going to try to catch them, too.

Exactly
I don't know Jason Isbell's solo stuff and I dig his DBT's stuff. He is playing close to me in a couple weeks. How is he live? Should I check it out?

that album is so good and even if you haven't heard it, he always plays a few DBT songs (you can't beat hearing Danko/Manuel EVER)
I regret i couldn't go to the show here, please GO if you get the chance.
picked up this record up yesterday after being blown away hearing Danko/Manuel, and all I can say is WOW!
WOW........
You know when you keep hearing people say "you gotta hear this, you gotta hear that" but you've got too many other things you wanna listen to, or you're so obsessed with your new favourite artist to listen to anything else? I should have taken the advice on this one a long time ago. This album is a stunner. But there's just soooo much music out there. How are we ever gonna hear it all...?
Which one did you get, ralph? I like both, but I'm partial to Sirens of the Ditch. He should have a new one out soonish too.
i love it that this thread came back!!
this is my most anticipated album coming out this year--APRIL!! I can't wait...
I've heard 2 of the new songs, and they're purty awesome.
ralph---lovedog reminded me that "don't say nuthin bout the things you never saw" is about the part in the last waltz where scorcese is asking them about groupies and levon turns away and says 'thought they weren't going to ask us about that'...
Jason is one of my favorite songwriters of all time..

My Birthday!!! I'll have to buy it. :)
very pumped for his new cd.. and the new DBT as well!
been listening to Live at Twist & Shout non stop over the last few days. Damn its fine, pity its only 6 songs though.
The guitar tone on this is so Crazy Horse, its fucking magic.
I've had the new album for a while...I am a little disappointed. A few good songs but nothing really killer.
i love all his albums, he's one of my favorite songwriters...
 ;)
His albums have been ok...but nothing he has done has compared to the songs he wrote in DBT like Outfit, Goddamn Lonely Love and Danko/Manual..etc...which has been a little disappointing to me. Those songs are still the highlights of his shows.
I thought that Dress Blues was an amazing song!
there are a few others that he's done that I think are great as well.

I've only been sitting with the first two albums for a little while, but what has struck me with both of them is the songs that weren't so immediate on the first few listens are the songs that I now can't get enough of. The second half of the 400 Unit album from Coda is total quality. But when I first got the album it was the first half that really got to me.
Have so far resisted the urge to get the new one early. Only a month out now so I may as well wait.

Agreed. No, most of the songs will never compare with the DBT songs, but there are a ton of beautiful songs on his albums..and the new one I would put Alabama Pines and We've Met up there with anything else. I still don't think there's anyone around his age writing songs with that much maturity or strength in their voice..he has a real gift.
Saw these guys last night for the first time in Birmingham, and they blew me away :o I did not expect so much energy and such mind-blowing musicianship. They play that rock/southern rock/country/blues fusion thing better than almost anyone I've seen who tried to do it. Also, they really balanced the set well emotionally (does that make sense?).
They covered the Meters (Hey Pocky Way), Hendrix (Stone Free), and Petty (American Girl) and played a bunch of DBT tunes too (Decoration Day nearly knocked me over). They packed the venue to the door, and were passing around a bottle of Jack Daniels the whole show
I haven't had a band show me such a good time since seeing MMJ at Voodoo. Those dueling guitar solos melted me last night....good golly. AND someone was there taping the show, he said he was gonna put it up on bt.etree.org if y'all wanna check it out.
Can't wait for the new album :D
looks like a great setlist! i saw he did Atlantic City the night before, too...
can't wait till next week!
what about hayes carll?

I'm not familiar with most of his DBT material, but I looked at a setlist just now and they also played Outfit, Goddamn Lonely Love, Dress Blues, Never Gonna Change, and Danko/Manuel.
I forgot to mention earlier that they covered Talking Heads and did Psycho Killer (I think thats a common one in rotation?), and that was scary good too.
Oh and Hayes Carll wasn't the opener last night (although I woulda liked to see him!). It was Maria Taylor, and she had a really great mellow sound to her music. Lollar played guitar in her band, so it was cool to see him in two totally different settings. That dude can
play some guitar...sheesh.
You're gonna have a blast next week :D can't wait to hear you review!!

This album is really good. I think it will be one of my favorites of the year - i like every song.

I like the album a lot however imo it cannot hold a candle to Go Go Boots by DBTs. That album is in a whole different league.
Love Go Go Boots and Here We rest. They've both gone in their own directions and I stopped comparing them awhile ago. Truckers are still a better live show.

Sweet! My last show was in April, so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how it has evolved. I'll let y'all know how it goes
Jason just announced that he is the support for Ryan Adams Australian tour in April. So freaking happy right now!
Dave, you are in for a serious treat. The camaraderie between those two is a beautiful thing to behold - and they don't sound half bad together, either!
Its such a bonus considering the shows have been on sale for a while and are pretty much sold out. I will very much enjoy both sets from my fifth row seat! 8)
Where do I start...Jason came on and burned through several favorites and then out of nowhere brought on Paul Shaffer (Letterman's keyboard player) and a horn section!!! They played Hey Pocky Way and a bunch of old muscle shoals tunes including Take A Letter to Maria, Suspicious Minds, Sittin' On A Dock By The Bay, and another one that Jason played on the acoustic only accompanied by Paul. That one was particularly beautiful but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it.
Needless to say, it was unforgettable :D They also played outift, decoration day, danko/manuel, some of the new tunes, and JAMMED Never Gonna Change. A few moments in that song were some of the best that I've experienced at a concert...they also played with a different guitarist from Jason's hometown, but of course I forgot his name. That guy was one of the better players I've heard, and he had a Bob Dylan and his band logo on his guitar. Not sure if he ever played with Dylan though.
In any case those covers were so much fun to experience, and Jason and the band did an incredible job representing their muscle shoals heritage. Oh- and David Letterman was there too! What a night...

I found this posted on another board I visit, and had to post it here. Totally agree with him, and wish we had a clapping emoticon.
Great quote from the NYTimes article :
Isbell reserves special scorn for people who record his shows on cellphones and post clips to YouTube. "It's an intrusion because I'm not performing for documentation's sake, I'm performing for people's ears and their eyeballs," he said. "I don't mind the scrutiny of it. We're good every night. I just feel like people aren't participating in the community of the room when they're behaving that way."
He shook his head. "My favorite thing about going to concerts has always been looking around and thinking that there's a lot of people in here that are very much like me, a lot of people in here I could have a full conversation with. I might even get laid in this room. You're not getting laid if you're standing there with your cellphone."
Thanks for sharing those quotes, Eric, they are great. I wish more artists who are annoyed by people taking crappy cell phone videos would speak out about it.
I will watch high quality videos sometimes, but the vast majority of what people are filming is such poor quality. it's really not worth them taking themselves out of the moment for, and certainly not worth it for all the people around them that they are distracting to record their crappy videos.
There are a couple others that come to mind but I think Southeastern is my top album of the year so far. I have high hopes for Negativity but this bar is set real high.
Isbell is playing the Chameleon Club in Lancaster on August 6th or The Kirby in Wilkes-Barre on August 9th... I'm leaning towards Lancaster so far even though the Kirby show is a Friday.

Isbell is playing the Chameleon Club in Lancaster on August 6th or The Kirby in Wilkes-Barre on August 9th... I'm leaning towards Lancaster so far even though the Kirby show is a Friday.
If anyone is looking at going to either show let me know.
Already have my tix for the Kirby which is only a couple of miles from my house. It's a nice old theatre, good place for a show.
Seeing him do a free show on friday in Pittsburgh. It will be my first time seeing him ever as I've only seen DBT after he left, hoping for some DBT tunes. The new album is great!

You will definitely get several of his DBT tunes.

It's a goddamned conspiracy!!
I have played this album all the way through about once a day now. I can not get enough of his songwriting. After seeing him at Bonnaroo, I immediately bought a ticket to his Chattanooga show. It was a no brainier, especially since the ticket was only ten bucks!
I've also been playing this album almost daily. I love it...except Super 8.

I like the song, find it hilarious, but it doesn't seem to fit on the album. Sounds like the recording levels were even different for this song. Could have made a great B-side.
This is definitely my favorite album of the year and amazingly enough, my favorite album of his career. I don't think anyone is writing songs like him, especially with Amanda backing him on vocals and the Ryan Adams influence. The stories and philosophy and harmonizing are perfect.
Brooke, Fully and I are seeing him at the Ryman in August! That might be the best show all year for me (other than HH's backyard show of course)..
Well, as expected this album is awesome. Elephant is really great. I can't wait to see him again.
Not sure if i like it more than the last one though but they are very close.
I'm hoping for another Isbell / Ryan Adams tour!
Well just for the record I ended up missing that free show. The event was the WYEP summer music festival and also featured Jesse Dee, Anders Osborne, and local band Neighbours. We've had lots of rainy weather lately and they were calling for scattered thunderstorms, so my friends I was supposed to meet down there backed out of the event. If there's a show at a club or something I will go by myself, but just didn't feeling like going solo to this one. From some pics I saw on facebook the weather looked OK. I also dig the new album a lot and hope to see him at some point!
I think Stockholm is my favorite song on the album.
Jason Isbell is playing the Baltimore Soundstage 8/11 if anyone is interested.
So far my viable options are Lancaster 8/6... Wilkes-Barre on 8/9... or Baltimore 8/11.

Did you get table tix or GA? Not sure what I want to go for with a show like his. I believe GO4IT is in and I'm trying to get Ruckus too.

I got two table seats in the raised area to the right.
The reason I didn't want to do GA is the GA area would be hard to see from unless you were at the front of it, and I didn't want to have to show up early for this show.

No doubt this one will be at the top of my list for best albums of the year when the last month of the calendar is here.
Here's a couple of pictures from one of my best night's of 2012 -- when Jason played our summer backyard show.

Spend an hour with a beer or a glass of wine, spin Southeastern on vinyl and really just listen.

agreed! I listen every other day it seems.
favorites are: Stockholm, Elephant and Flying Over Water

I've listened to this just about every day for the last month. I'm still not tired of it. I'd say Super 8 is my least favorite, but I don't dislike it enough to skip it. I kind of like the change of pace.
I've got a cousin who just went to rehab a month ago. He'll be in for a few months. Anyway, I sent him this album due to the themes of redemption and reconciliation throughout the album.
Can't get enough of it and looking forward to seeing him in Mobile, AL next month.

i think everyone's kinda 'blah' about Super 8 but Headhunter and i were saying that when you see it live, you'll really dig it. it doesn't fit in with the rest of the songs but i think he had to have a bit of at least one rocker on there.
I also feel like seeing Super 8 live (at Bonnaroo) really changed my opinion of it. I originally felt like it didn't quite fit and took me out of the album to a degree, but now I feel like it fits just fine, and I never skip it, or anything else on this record.

this is really my only complaint with it, more because of the theme of the song though than it being a rocker. I dont have a problem with the actual song itself.
Finally arrived down here. Definition of irony? The album is fucking brilliant but the vinyl pressing sounds absolutely atrocious. The vocals have a fuzzy distorted sound that is so overwhelming it just sounds terrible. Will swap for another copy and hope it sounds better. The song writing is top shelf though...

Congratulations to Jason Isbell for winning Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and Song of the Year last night at The Americana Music Awards. Well deserved!
Just ordered tickets for my first Jason Isbell show with Damien Jurado in support. Never got to see him with DBT either. I'm equally as excited for Damien Jurado, his album is still my pick for best of the year. I'm assuming it will be Damien performing solo without a band though because that's usually how it works in a theater setting.
Isbell playing in Louisville on New Years Eve! pretty excited :)
just 2 years ago Isbell opened for Ryan Adams at The Palace. Now headlining at The Palace on NYE! what a difference a fantastic album makes!
I have 2 extra tickets for the November 6 show at DPAC in Durham if anyone is interested .
Sturgill Simpson opens .
They are in Section 1 , Row B (4 rows back ) in the middle
Apparently "The Voice" tried to recruit Jason Isbell as a contestant. He talked about it on his twitter account. Too funny...
From Jambase: "Singer-songwriter Jason Isbell has accomplished so much in his career both as a solo artist and as a member of Drive-By Truckers including his recent near sweep at this year's Americana Music Awards. Apparently those details escaped the attention of a producer for the NBC reality show The Voice, who reached out to Isbell in an attempt to have him audition for the show."

24 frames per second is the common frame rate for TV/Film. First thing I thought of when I saw the title
this is how you make yourself vanish into nothing
and this is how you make yourself worthy of the love
that she gave to you back when you didn't own a beautiful thing
and this is how you make yourself call your mother
and this is how you make yourself closer to your brother
remember him back when he was small enough to help you sing
you thought god was an architect now you know
he's something like a pipe bomb ready to blow
and everything you built that's all for show
goes up in flames in 24 frames
this is how you see yourself floating on the ceiling
and this is how you help her when her heart stops beating
what happened to the part of you who noticed every changing wind
and this is how you talk to her when no one else is listening
and this is how you help her when the muse goes missing
you vanish so she can go drowning in her dream again
you thought god was an architect now you know
he's something like a pipe bomb ready to blow
and everything you built that's all for show
goes up in flames in 24 frames
you thought god was an architect now you know
he's sitting in a black car ready to go
you make some new friends after the show
but you'll forget their names in 24 frames
in 24 frames

luckily I've seen them more times with her than without. I think she really adds a lot to the show, both her singing and her playing. Plus she makes him happy and that's fun to watch...
On MPT right now in Baltimore-Wasington area.
More toward country than I remember from past shows but sounds great.
New dates just announced, can't believe he's touring with the Mountain Goats.
This should be an awesome twin billing.
Yeah I'll be there for the Cincy show for sure. Hope we get some new songs by then!!

3 nights here in Austin. Should be a great weekend.

I had 3rd row of the pit but I threw them back just bc the pit was so expensive compared to the regular seating. I got front row of the 100 level section and am very happy with that!!
Cinci tickets weren't going very fast though for such a small venue. I tried an hour and a half later and still got pit. I'm excited to see him there though. I like that venue!
He is playing the next night only an hour away in Dayton, so I'd imagine some Cincy folks opted for that show instead. I considered taking a swing at that show but decided I'd rather have the shorter drive (I'm coming from Louisville).

me too. We went to that new venue last summer, in Huber Heights. We thought it was in Cleveland originally and didn't buy tickets and then the day before the show saw it was doable so we went there. It is just like PNC. And I noticed Tedeschi Trucks are also playing both venues this summer and the Huber Heights show is on a Saturday while Cinci is a Friday so we got tickets for Saturday.
Wondering if the bands realize how close these 2 venues are to each other...
Doing MPP and The last Beacon Show. Can't wait as this might be my favorite lineup of the year.

Jason Isbell Announces New Album With 400 Unit & Ryman Residency
Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Jason Isbell and his 400 Unit backing band will release The Nashville Sound on June 16 via Southeastern Records/Thirty Tigers. The follow-up to 2015's Something More Than Free was also produced by Dave Cobb and is the first official Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit album since 2011's Here We Rest. Isbell also announced a five-night stand at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium.
Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit recorded The Nashville Sound at Nashville's legendary RCA Studio A. Isbell penned 10 new songs for the LP which are said to "address a range of real life subject matters that include politics and cultural privilege ('White Man's World'), longing nostalgia ('The Last Of My Kind'), love and mortality ('If We Were Vampires'), the toxic effect of today's pressures ('Anxiety'), the remnants of a break up ('Chaos and Clothes') and finding hope ('Something To Love')." The 400 Unit features Derry deBorja (keyboards), Chad Gamble (drums), Jimbo Hart (bass), Amanda Shires (fiddle) and Sadler Vaden (guitar).
The group's Ryman run will take place on October 10, 11 and 13 – 15.
Excited to hear the full 400 Unit sound on this record:
http://www.rollingstone.com/country/news/jason-isbell-talks-uptempo-and-loud-new-album-w472251
best line: "It's gonna be harder for people to fall asleep in their own tears, as they probably have done for my last couple of records," he joked.
Where should I start w/ Jason Isbell? While I have respek for the truckers, and have seen them a handful of times (both with and without Isbell) I just don't love them. Grabbed the recent record store day vinyl of Isbell and can't stop listening to it! Having nothing else, where should I start?
At the beginning!!
Also get that Live From Alabama from a few years ago. It's excellent.
If you're only going to listen to two albums then I'd say Southeastern and Live from Alabama. But his earlier solo albums have lots of great songs too.
Also go back a page and watch that live from house of blues video i posted.
Thanks!
Just ordered live from Alabama LP.
If you can find a rip of his entire ACL taping I'd go with that. Otherwise Live from Alabama is as good of a place as any.

Nice!! Where are your seats? My gf and I will be fifth row stage right for Isbell and then I'll be solo in the pit for MMJ. My seats for Isbell are Section 100, Row A. First Row of seating behind the pit! On the right if you're facing the stage. Is that Stage Right?
The venue in Dayton is almost identical and not too much farther away. I'm going to that one for Tedeschi Trucks just bc it's on a Saturday and that works better than going to Cinci on a Friday.
For MMJ I'm also in Section 100, Row R. Seems like it's far back but that venue is pretty small and has great sight lines from everywhere.

Yeah Tupelo and White Man's World are tied for my favorite right now but every song on the record is a gem! Very happy about this and very excited to see him in Cincy 7/1, nine days after I see Jacket at the same venue!
me too on both shows!!
Tupelo, Vampires and Hope the High Road are my favorites. Been listening twice a day the last few days...
Nice!! Where are your seats? My gf and I will be fifth row stage right for Isbell and then I'll be solo in the pit for MMJ. Kinda a bummer that it looks like the Isbell show hasn't sold all that well, with almost all of the upper level still not sold out. I'd imagine that's because they're playing less than two hours away in Dayton the next night

No if I'm understanding you correctly you'll be more on the Jason/(hopefully) Amanda side and we'll be more on the Sadler side. No matter; we didn't have a super great sight line at the Palace in the fall but it was still a fantastic show
Going to my first Jason Isbell show in 2 weeks. What can I expect??

Pure professionalism from Jason and his band.
Some excellent electric guitar playing.
A good mix of old and new songs.
A nice display and lighting.
Hopefully Amanda on fiddle and backing vocals.
seen Jason 3x time (once was opening for MPP) and still haven't gotten a show w/ Amanda. She dropped the night before I saw them in Norfolk last year. I imagine she'll be full time on the tour supporting this album since she seems prominent on the songs I've heard.

She's actually listed as the opener for the show I'm seeing.
I definitely enjoy the shows with her there more. She adds a lot both in her playing and singing. Plus he just looks happier when she's there next to him.
The Gregg Allmann tribute gauntlet has been thrown. Hope MMJ takes a stab too!

wow. Seriously wondering if they are the tightest band going right now.

After that video I don't think I'm even wondering anymore, it seems to be a fact.
Also, good news for those of us that have yet to catch a show with Amanda: she doesn't have to have any solo dates on the books in the next few months, except for shows where she's opening for Jason and company
Wow that was awesome... I'm seeing this show at the Beacon on Thursday. I'd assume (hope!) that if they were going to bust out any Allman tributes again, it would be at the Beacon.

He tends to ride with roughly the same setlist for a tour, and has closed with Whipping Post both of the first two nights. I'd say it is very likely this will be a staple this tour
looks like he's down to 2 of his truckers songs a night. i'm fine with that but i wish he'd mix in some of his older solo songs.
Isbell Saturday night, Cincinnati!

Yeah, folding chairs from what I understand. Was trying to imagine what that setup will be like when I was standing in the pit last Thursday and it seems weird to me but I dunno
it'll be great I'm sure bc there will be way less people in the pit, and hopefully everyone will still be standing!

I hope so! Cannot possibly be anything less than a great show regardless
Saw them last week and it was easily the best show I've been to this year. Just a really stellar band. Isbell was pretty talkative too and was very funny!
I wish he had time to start a podcast. I love hearing him talk.

Totally. Me too.
He was hilarioua tonight but Amanda had to tell him to shut up haha
He was. Show was really great. Sound and performance both perfect.
Cover Me Up they've changed up and I thought it was a highlight. But they killed it on Whipping Post! Damn.
going tonight in Houston!
Enjoy. The three Austin shows were great. Saturday was damn near perfect.
For those of y'all that can make it out to a show this tour, here's the set they played in Wisconsin at a festival a few weeks back:
Since it's a festival it's about half as long as the regular set they've been playing but still worth a watch.
Great Show!!!
When he played Cover Me Up, everyone just looked around at each other afterwards and said "DAMN!",

'Austin City Limits' To Live Stream Jason Isbell & Amanda Shires Performances
On Monday, August 21, Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires will appear at ACL Live At The Moody Theater to record an episode of Austin City Limits. If you can't make it to Austin, Texas to see the married couple's performance in person, there's an option to watch for free from home or wherever you have an internet connection.
Monday's Austin City Limits taping will be webcast live for free on the official ACL YouTube channel. The webcast begins with a set by Shires and her band starting at 8 p.m. CT. After an intermission, Isbell and his band The 400 Unit (which occasionally includes Shires) will then perform live in Austin.
Nice to have a backup if I don't win tix to the taping.
Just scored four tickets to the secons of the two Louisville shows in Dec. They're going fast so act now yall!
I got 2 for Friday night, upstairs, 2nd row of balcony center.
the verified ticket thing worked out well.

I agree, the verified thing was great. I'm on the floor about twenty rows back a little towards Sadler from the center. For a show in such high demand on a Friday night and with me needing four tickets together I'd say that's a pretty killer haul.
I absolutely love The Palace but what I've come to realize is that downstairs is only great sounding if you're in front of the balcony. I think it's around row L, can't remember exactly. So for the last 4-5 shows I've been to there I only look for seats upstairs.
Didn't realize I could have clicked on Loge instead of balcony and had even better seats...but I am satisfied with what I got.
already the cheapest seats on stubhub are $100!
Caught Jason twice last month and will be going to his ACL taping on Monday. Should be a good taping.
and he is coming back to Whitewater in New Braunfels in Sept. A lot of Isbell in central TX this summer! Love it!

Thoroughly enjoyed the ACL taping last night.
