If you could just pretty please help me with a little question;
If for example, I were an American guy in my 20s or so, coming to visit Louisville for a day or so, what to do and what to see? Links, photos, maps etc much appreciated! :)
Fast answers encouraged!

I thought there were a few more threads on this, but that's all I came up with so far...
Also heading to Louisville on Feb 5! Hoping to catch a show there or in Cincinnati on the 4th or 5th, so if anyone knows of one let me know! It looks like there is a Led Zeppelin tribute act on the 4th in Cincinnati that actually doesn't sound too bad?

This is coincidental, as I am an American guy in my 20's, possibly coming to visit Louisville for a day or so, wondering what to do or see. ;D

Well... I found this out while silently stalking you in invisibility mode... I do this a lot these days, long story, anyways so I decided to ask for you! That's just how nice I am ;)
There were other Louisville "stuff to do" threads...somewhere. If anyone knows off-hand which ones they were, please post the thinks! Altho I think the links I shared contained the majority of what was posted.
Coincidentally, I am also "an American guy in my 20s or so, coming to visit Louisville for a day or so!"
Maybe we need to form some sort of club. We could serve club sandwiches with frilly toothpicks! I'm for 'em!

Does this mean I silently stalked you in invisibility mode as well? Possibly... either way it's all part of the master plan, I shall be your club leader, a Swedish woman in my 20's or so, coming to visit Louisville within the next 10 years or so... Bring on the club sandwiches with frilly toothpicks! ;) However I vote that Swedish pancakes shall be our top dish served with lingonberry jam... All in favor say yay, or if you so wish nay. :)
Yay! Though by age and weight I could count as 2 American guys in their '20s hoping someday to come to Louisville for a day or three, to catch a hometown MMJ show, meet some L'ville forum old timers and younguns, to see the sights and create some memories (possibly lose a few, too).
I'll PM you Yim's address, too. So you can stand outside just like the gates of Graceland.
You could go down to the church but I hear security's pretty tight these days.

Yeah, I think so, because I've heard they've hired security to patrol the outside these days. I'm pretty sure they weren't at first.

That's too bad. I think folks should respect what's going on inside and wait for them to release the result. Would I be tempted? Sure. Would I consider dressing as a pizza delivery guy? Sure. But, honestly, I'd leave 'em alone. Probably. ;)

You're very welcome to the club! You'll be the laser harp expert, who possibly (?) performs after we've had some club sandwiches with frilly toothpicks and/or Swedish pancakes! :D

Hm, more opportunities for stalking in invisibility mode, how could the club possibly deny such help. Much appreciated Penny, much appreciated... maybe not so much by Yim, but really, he's not in the club, so... ;)
I must thank Ms. BananaBear for helping me out with this... for I am the 20-something year old male visiting my cousin in Kentucky and planning to trip over to Louisville... don't tell my cousin I'm coming though- that's a surprise! I would also like to thank those of you who offered some advise... thank you thank you thank you!

You claim you're the 20-something year old visiting Kentucky, but on the other hand... 2 + 2 guys already wrote the same thing... ;) On a serious note though, the club demands a review of the visit once you get back! :)
I would be happy to stand as a character witness for Fiddle and Mighty. Have been to a few shows with these boys, have rocked out at the rail next to Mighty's never ending grin and have road tripped to a show with Fiddle and have heard him play the omnicord sweetly (sorry Hawkeye I don't believe we've met yet)

I certainly will, thanks aMD!
If they're downtown and they want to go the path well traveled they can hit 4th Street Alive, all sorts of bars and activity over there (unless it's Christmas Day). PT's is a fine club for the 20 somethings male. The Louisville Slugger factory tour is actually pretty cool and I don't even like sports. Other than that go to 37flood.com and find some sweet tunes to go see.
Louisville kicks ass.
This thread is getting me excited! To go to Louisville, that is. We were planning on staying at the Hyatt on/near 4th St. unless anyone has a better suggestion on where to stay? My GF has been doing most of the research so far...she says the Hyatt looks like it's near where the action is...

I have stayed at the Hyatt a lot and it is nice and in a good location. It is across the street from Fourth Street Live. My advice: Even if you're tempted, don't go to Fourth Street Live at night. It's not so bad for lunch...

You should definitely hit up Lynn's Paradise Cafe for brunch one day. Oh, and call in a reservation. That place is a madhouse, especially on the weekend...
I would steer clear of 4th street live, too much of a dude-bro scene for me at least. If you want a bar scene go to Bardstown Rd. There's some good bars near downtown, Louisville Beer Store and BBC to name a few. 610 Magnolia is a good place for local food and good drink. Any of you all headed to da ville should hit me up and if I'm free I'll do my best to help you live it up!
Looking like I'll be in Louisville for at least a couple of hours on Sunday... going to Indy tomorrow for the Colts-Jets game and will probably stay up there until Sunday morning. My cousin and I need to pick some stuff up for his father's girlfriend in Louisville so hopefully we'll explore for a little.
Hi guys, so we are looking for a great place to grab lunch in Louisville today. Any ideas of where to go? My cousin isn't as adventurous with food as I am and we are both pretty broke so we're looking for something fairly inexpensive. Also, my cousin is in a wheelchair that just had new batteries installed but the battery meter says they are less than half full of power (we aren't sure the meter is working) but we want to be on the safe side so any place that's not too far off the beaten path and handicapped accessible is needed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
headed out now, looks like we'll be headed to Lynn's Paradise Cafe for lunch
Well it was a successful trip to Lynn's Paradise, very fun place and the food was good- we brought home a bunch of leftovers! Our waitress was this very sweet and pretty girl named Nicki who looked crazy familiar to me but I couldn't place it. I wanted to ask her but felt like it totally would come on as a pick up line so I decided against it. Thanks to all those who gave suggestions- maybe next time I get in the area it'll be warmer and I'll have time to explore and hit a bar or something.
Many thanks!

Nicole Atkins maybe? Was she able to carry 7 plates at once?
I keed I keed. Hey Cap!
ZINGA! What's up Ms. Pennylane?
Heading to Louisville this Friday night-early Sunday...
Planning on eating at one of the places mentioned above, walking up Bardstown road, hitting up EarXtacy, and maybe trying to find an art gallery (Kathleen Lolley?). Anyone know of any good gigs in town this weekend, or any other suggestions? I think our hotel is near 4th St. Live...avoid that or go? Was thinking we might check out 4th St. Live on Friday night...we won't get into town until 10 or so, it's right near the hotel, and we'll have to be in bed by midnight or shortly after. Saturday night, we'll have most of the day and all night to explore the city. Gotta be back to Ohio early Sunday to catch the Super Bowl!

i have no plans on going down and trying to be a douche to the boys, but out of curiosity what church is it? based on the pictures I feel like I've been there (which is odd because im not a religious man) but I can't put a pin on it.
edit: if its like outskirts of town or basically not downtown or highlands area then I have not been there. its reminding me a church that i've maybe been in that has a school or preschool or something. and I dont actually expect you to tell me, so i'll ask again when the record is released

First Evangelical Church on the corner of Breckinridge and Barrett. I don't believe they have church services there anymore. Don't know when they stopped though.

The WHY Louisville store has some Lolley stuff for sale. Kopilot on Bonnycastle ought to as well. No great gigs this weekend unfortunately. Scott Carney has a gig this weekend, but that's about it. You caught us on a slow weekend. If you wanna grab a pint let me know.

You gotta check the Flood, brother!

Louisville trip went pretty well! Lady friend was sick pretty much the whole trip so I was on my own a lot, but I made the most of it.
Friday night - Louisville Beer Store - awesome beer and cheese...thanks aMD! Should have bought some of that cheese to bring home though.
Saturday - lunch at Lynn's...awesome. Not at all what I expected. I was expecting your typical, traditional diner with really good food. Which it kinda is, but with lots of "flair!" After lunch, made it over to Ear-X-tacy, then WHY Louisville and a few guitar shops. The lady friend was really feeling bad at this point, so back to the hotel for a nap, then off to the Carney show. Met some really cool peeps there, got to talk to all three bands. Got a ride home from a hilarious cabbie and couldn't resist 4th Street Live since it was right next to the hotel and I had a good buzz going. That place is nuts.
Anyway, all in all a good weekend and a big THANKS to aMD for all the help!
