Wondering what's everyone's thoughts on a potential 2011 tour to showcase the new album. I'm sure they'll hit up some of the major festivals, but as a native of New Orleans I'm just hoping for a stop here in NO. With the Saenger re-opening up sometime this year (Katrina damage), I cannot think of a better place to catch a MMJ show. Legendary venue, legendary show.
Thoughts, comments, discussion on other stops or venues?

Football stadiums with no GA.
MMJ are playing at my house, my house.
I heard they're playing a 3 hour set in the Oval Office consisting entirely of different versions of only one song.

Nicole Atkins is opening (her legs) for most of the tour

Odd connection time:

I just gotta say we need to be all in if there's another hometown Louisville show. It's a "bucket list" must for all forum members, imo.
That show at the Yum was ultra special, and I'll definitely be there for any and all future "Ville" shows.
They've never played NH (I don't believe). How about Concord's Capitol Center for the Arts? Too small? How about Manchester's Verizon Center? Yeah? Cool! See you there.

And Bright Eyes is already going to be there, so maybe they could throw in a MOF set too.

I don't really think we'll get a Louisville show in '11, but if we do I hope its Headlining Forecastle, or just a Waterfront show in general. Also I hope this tour gets a string of southern shows too that I can hit a couple of. Also I'm going to Waka so I know I'll see them at least once!
Since Im in Charlotte I hope they come here as they've never played here, but did play Raleigh last year.
However, I am gonna go out on a limb right now and predict that MMJ will headline the Nateva fest in ME, which sounded like a blast last year. I will def be there if they do, my old stomping grounds and tons of friends up by Sunday River.

What about Mountain Jam? I want to go to one of those East Coast fests this year.
I also wonder if they'll play Lolla. I'd guess they'd be a smaller headliner there by now.

THIS JUST IN!
Waterloo Village, the place down the street from me growing up that apparently had incredible shows that I was always too young to attend, is trying to get back in the game (http://www.dailyrecord.com/article/20110109/COMMUNITIES/301090001/1005/NEWS01/Plans-to-restore-Waterloo-Village-in-the-works--big-music-fest-planned-in-May). They just need some money to help get back on their feet and re-open to the public (it's also a historic site).
If Phish can play there, so can MMJ!
This would seriously be like saying MMJ is playing at my (parents) house! My (parents) house!

I'm in NoLa too and while they're probably not coming back to the Fest, I'm hoping that they play down here again soon. Saenger would be great, but it doesn't seem like there's any work being done. How crazy would a benefit show at Tip's be? ;D
Show at Tip's would be insane. I don't care care where in the city they play, hope they just make a stop. Very glad to see MMJ's attachment to NO after their work this year (Jim's work on PH CD, Jazzfest, Dear New Orleans benefit, Voodoo) because it's been years since they last played in NO.
Also, ever seen the show posters for any of MMJ's NO shows in 2010? I looked everywhere and came across nothing. Just assumed no artist stepped up to make one.

scroll down halfway and theres a BTE/MMJ poster with nice little seahorsies on it. that's all i've found for their 2010 shows in NOLA. I bought one, it's real cheap and the artist signs it.
To keep this on topic: New Orleans @ Mahalia Jackson or (even better) the Saenger I could definitely see hapnin' if they come to the Big Easy again! In all likelihood, I think there will be a lot of midwest and west coast dates. I'm thinkin a red rocks run?? My main question is how many out of country stops will they make....
EDIT: it's going to be Circuital Tour 2011, and they're going to travel in a circle and play every border town/beachfront venue in the continental US. yessss

Brief interjection! Friends and I were at a fest years ago, and my friend brought a small djembe that was really supposed to be decorative... not really played... and it rained. The drum became very damp, and reeked of foul unknown odors.. someone once stated it smelled......."like ass." So we of course decided to (jokingly) "sell" it under the marketable title "Heady Ass Drum" ..."Hey guys, check out this Heady Ass Drum!!" and occasionally "Anyone looking for a Sweet Ass Drum?!?" We still joke about it to this day.... I think he left it there for the taking when it was time to leave.... :-X That's a fantastic comic! ...and that is indeed a Sweet Ass Poster! I dig me some B.T.E.

Gotta have another IMP show outside of DC, was the best show they did on the spring tour hands down. Other than that I hope for a hometown show as I need to make one of those since its a short drive west. To be honest though I don't really care where they tour as long as I can get another 3 or 4 shows in this year.

There's definitely some tension, but I can't say violence really. It's mostly between capital Stockholm (east coast) and second largest city Gothenburg (west coast) and probably most prominent when it comes to sports. MMJ's been to Gothenburg so I feel like they should keep up with that tradition... never mind Stockholm, I hear they don't even like peanut butter pudding surprises there... ;)

See the hallmark of a thriving society is when you have "musicians" using their arbitrary coastal location as justification for homicide. It defined my 6th grade year when the trashy kids had their parents pull them out of school when TuPac gott capped

That's why I'm hoping Waterloo starts up in earnest this time. Anything too close to NYC and outdoors is just subject too many agencies/authorities/paranoia to really be lasting
Waterloo is in the sticks, near a major interstate, and it has a heritage for better or worse

I must be old and crotchety. Give a sweet hotel, hot tub, and a tasty restaurant over a tent and a camping stove any day! At least for a music festival. I love to camp and spend time outdoors...just not with thousands of wookies in close proximity.

When I camp at music festies I feel like all rules and regulations are left at the gate and thats what I like. I find it much easier to meet new people, discover new bands, and do things that sane people in the real world don't do. I feel like for 3-4 days I can do whatever the fuck I want as long as I remain considerate to other people doing whatever they want. At urban festivals (the only one I go to is forecatle) I just feel like I usually end up coming and going to much to take in the entire experience. However, if I didn't plan on going to Roo, Waka, Forecastle, PJ fest AND starry nights this year I would be all over this.
OH YEAH, and late night shows are the best. For your alls sake I'm hoping for a secret late night bar show from MMJ
I WANT!! I WANT!!! I WANT!!!! :o :o :o :o
Let's have another look-a-loo here at the ol' Plannerrrrrrrrrr............
That's a pretty sweet lineup.
i keep looking at this line up and its just stupid how much it seems like its made for me (minus the electronic music)
Wow I can't believe all these fests keep lining up with days I don't have class....... but it's a 9 hour hike, which means nothing except gas monies.... and I see now that it's close to Mt. Jam weekend (which may wind up being quite a drive-a-thon for moi)
Well, looks sweet as peaches!!!
Holy shit, WEEEEEN..... Paulie Simon, XAVIER RUDD, G Love, Keller, Slightly Stoopit...... I likes this line-up mebbe better than Mt. Jam , but I like Mt. Jam's locale wayyyyy better...... daaaammmnnnnn decisionsz...... :D
One thing I really like about this is that it's before Waka/MTN Jam/Roo so based on their time slot we can get some insight into what kind of set list we'll see for the summer festival season

It actually may be a little more, sorry. Not much, though. It's a little less than 3 from NO to Pensacola. Orange Beach is closer to NO geographically but it's kind of off the beaten path so it may take a little longer to get to. Regardless, it's an easy drive and for sure no more than 3.5. Your best bet is flying into PNS, but I don't think we have JetBlue here.

no shit ... it's hard !!! i'm leaning a little toward at least considering hitting this. i have some seriously awesome friends (bug, who is on here) that went last year and have been planning to go this year. come on phish .. please to announce memorial day weekend so i can get on with my life!!
I'm hoping they were holding out on releasing full tour dates until the B-roo lineup came out. Let's see 'em!
i like the way you think, sir!

catchers and pitchers reported yesterday I believe. Spring training is a blast, I went to a game in phoenix a couple years back, Giants vs. Mariners.
And I did snag some Giants tickets during the single game on sale a couple weeks back. Giants vs. Braves, and the big one....Giants vs. Dodgers on a Saturday at AT&T. Life is good.
....now we need some west coast MMJ love to make it even better!
i got in a giants game/wilco show bay area double header a few yrs ago. a giants game/mmj show would be sublime! (and my family might even see me up there!)
Maybe this will be the year we get a Charlotte show.

I second that emotion!!!
I have been a fan for a long time but have never seen a show. (I've seen MOF, but never MMJ) This time I will stop at nothing (within reason) to see them if they come to my neck of the woods! I'm really hoping they will come to Houston, Dallas, or Austin. I keep checking the blogs for tour speculations!

I'd say, don't be afraid to travel. I travelled almost 3000 total miles, by plane and rental car, and spent just over $1000 for a 3-show run last April and it was awesome. Worth every minute and every penny. I met forum royalty, made great friends, and saw some awesome live Jacket.
This year, though, I think you'll have a couple of "nearby" shows. You gotta do it!
So since recent developments suggest that they will be playing Latitude in the UK (July 16th) and possibly Lollapalooza (August 5-7th), do y'all think that they will tour Europe briefly and then head back to the states??
My summer plans have been postponed too long- we NEED tour dates....please ;)

I'm feeling you. I would LOVE some tour dates. I'm dragging my feet on all kinds of family plans, vacations, kids camps, etc... I can't stall much longer !!!!! I want to plan my summer around the tour, not plan the tour around my summer!
I'm dying to hear about a summer Louisville show so I can make the trip out. Will it coincide with Lebowski Fest? Will it happen so I can ride up to Cinci to catch a Phillies game? Where will they play? Will I drink bourbon?
So many questions!!
Jonesin' for some tour dates. C'mon boys, you know you wanna play the Philly circus tent again!

Amen, brother.
I'm thinking the Northeast will see some late-summer or fall dates. Just a hunch. We were well treated in 2010 and MMJ owes other parts of the country some dates, I'm thinking. And they'll likely do Europe in July and/or August.
