Every year UK has a concert. A friend of mine from Lexington said this year's end concert is MMJ. Hmmmm, don't know if I believe it but I hope for it.
edit: I forgot that not everyone on here is from Louisville or follows sports. By UK I mean Univeristy of Kentucky.

It looks relatively small....it's a 6.5 hr drive for me, but this might have to happen!
Thx for the heads up :D :D :D
The way the ticketing works seems like I wont be getting floor tix. But then again, I always freak out about getting tickets and I always get the ones I want... it seats 9,000 by the way.
Hmmmm.... My wife works for UK. I wonder if I can get a hook up....
Hook me up with some floor tickets!!!

I could probably sober up in time to land.
You could always enroll in a couple of classes. Seriously, if I find out that I have an "in" I will let you guys know.
Finally a hometown jacket show. This is great news. It's so close too. A reason to party on Sunday. I hope to see yall in Lexington.
hmmm, my cousin goes to school @ UK. may need to pay him a visit. wonder if he is already planning to go to this :)
What sucks is even if my friends get tickets I can't use them with out a student ID. With so much going on in Summer '11, one show potentially in the seats and not the floor will be okay. Hell I'll sit behind the stage I don't care this is fantastic news. I've been freaking out for a good 2 hours now. I'm gonna have panic attacks and hot flashes and not be able to sleep until I get purchase my tickets.
I reeallly wannnaaa goooo!!!! :o buut I dunno bout the 50 bucks a ticket :-\
plus ticketmaster fees I'd say we're looking at 60$
Damn! >:(
My April break start the following week. Can't do it. :'(

just wondering - why wouldn't you be able to use a ticket your friend buys for you? it just says that a valid student ID is needed for each student ticket
purchased (up to a max of 5 per student). it doesn't say that they'll be checking @ the door to make sure each student ticket is actually being used by a student.
buuuut, i've never been to an event there so maybe they always check @ the door for that & they didn't say it because it's just assumed. idk.
at any rate - i hope you get to be on the floor :D
Y'know, its funny. I noticed the lack of new Jacket events in April on the Forum Calendar this morning, thought about Carl's set at SXSW in March (the Jacket debuted most of Evil Urges there in 2008), and wondered if we might see something soon. And here we are...
iiiiii need to figure out how i can get to this.
anybody think this might sell out before the public sale on the 12th?
i'm going if i can get tix, but as a cardinal fan, i may need one of these afterward... :bath:

There is no way I can see this selling out before public release. As a fellow UL fan, I hardly believe the OAR listenin' frat boys down there will buy into this...

This is the day after my birthday and it would be a great celebration but I have already told myself that I would only be traveling to Kentucky for a show if you were able to make it from new hampshire. since I am doing the hangout and trying to save some money, the fact that you aren't gonna be able to attend with me makes it much easier to say no, plus the frat boys

As Penny says, we have to be patient. I noticed it was the day after your birthday when I added this show to the forum calendar, then went to do a Birmingham to Lexington mapquest just out of curiosity, but the page wouldn't load. Fate?
definitely fate...
all of you people that are gonna be going...BRING YOUR RECORDERS!!! baustin if you see this please go to lexington, sneak your lil camera in and bring us back some love!! ok that's probably a longshot but hopefully we will get a good audio recording out of it considering it is probably gonna be the first time most of us hear these new ones live...unless they are playing before april somewhere
love that mmj is billed as the "spring concert". sounds like party dresses and corsages are called for.
also, from the UK f/b event page:
QuoteMMJ has a loyal fan base that travels across the country to see them in concert.
 cheers, weirdos!
I've been going to concerts at UK for 20 years and it's awesome. This will be the first time seeing a show at Memorial Coliseum(don't ever recall one). It's not like yall are thinking with frat boys and prom dresses. Frat boys are at their parents summer home in hilton head and have bad taste in music. This is going to be te best 25 dollar show ever and I get to sleep in my own bed.
Yipeee! The GLA will be rockin'!
Definitely going to check if I can get in with a student ticket without an ID, unfortunately facebook is banned where I currently am...
...as for the frat boys, I am sure the crowd will scare them off so no worries.
Can't believe how much this band just gives and gives, can't wait for this it's my birthday weekend.
Wonder how much of Circuital will be played, hopefully all of it!
wow, what incredible news. with this, then hangover fest, its shaping up to be one helluva spring. i just hope this doesnt eliminate a hometown show this summer.

Tried looking up that statement on the facebook page and could not find it. Just a tad bit worried since we can get student tickets through family members and want to make sure they are not checking ID's.
Where did you see it? (insert confused icon here)
It's all good. If you get a ticket you are good. I have called and double checked. They are only checking student id's at ticket purchase not on entry.

This show will be my 8th MMJ/Jim show but is only 3 days shy of one year since my first. It must be Jims anniversary present to me. What a sweetie
a buddy of mine got our tickets a little bit ago. they are student tickets, so i hope i don't have any trouble at the door. floor seats must already be sold out, because he asked for floor but got side tickets. this might be a hard ticket to get if you aren't a student or know some students!

Not to be a Downer but I have some reservations about a student tixs. I shot an email to my cousin who works ticketing for Rupp and Memorial. She will get them for me on the condition "you can try if you want to but I'll be very surprised if you will actually get in. The people who work the door are UK student activities boards people and they are bitches about letting people in, they turn away everyone without a valid student ID even with student tickets. People get pissed, we get loads of complaints and nothing we can do. Students completely control this and make sure the show is exclusively by students for students"
Needless to say she got her point across and now I'm feeling obligated to fork out the extra $25 to guarantee my way in. ???
I already got my tickets. I'm of college age and since people have called I will try my hardest to get in anyway. When tickets go on sale for ticket master will someone please let me know they got them so we can discuss what it says where on the tickets. It doesn't say "student tickets" anywhere. It does however say that they were 25.00 obviously and UK SAB Presents
if you're really worried i would print out the statement on the website that says you don't need a student ID at the door. and bring it with you to the show.
but this isn't a students only event so it shouldn't be an issue.
A link to the site that states don't need a student ticket at the door would be greatly appreciated. I got my tickets from relatives yesterday and will use their ID's if necessary, but it would be nice if I could bring the statement from the site.
Of course, am planning on hearing the new album in it's entirety with some gems at the end at the show!

I copied and pasted that post right from the admin on their page, but when I went back to find it again it was gone. I dunno.
Mark,
Thanks again for calling to check about your MMJ tickets. As the event management, we do have a right to ask to see a UK student ID if there the individual has a student ticket. However, at this concert the only way we would ask to see the ID is if individuals are behaving in a disruptive manner. At the ticket office, it also states that a ticket does not guarantee admittance, which means if we feel you are a threat to yourself or others we do not have to let you into the venue.
So come to the show and enjoy it and there should not be a problem. Once again, I do appreciate you checking with us regarding your ticket and I am glad that you are excited to MMJ live at UK.
Thanks,
Josh

Anyone have a link to a detailed seating chart?
I keep pulling section V, but the TM chart doesn't show any section V.
Is the floor all ga? I've pulled ga's too, but they say "limited view". I'd really like to make the ride from Jersey, but not if I'm stuck behind a pole or something.
Thanks.
limited view???
got 4, section v, row 13. but it said "limited view."
according to the seating charts i've seen, that's basically half-court. what about that is "limited view?" anyone familiar with the place?

i got ga and section V both say limited view I wouldn't worry bout' that. section V looks to be at mid court for a bball game. Thing that pisses me off is I selected best available both times and got section v row 15 first then went back for the hell of it and got ga . so yeah I got 2 extras in section V now WTf. So went back a third time just out of curiosity and Sec V row 12 came up. I guess ticketmaster thinks row 15 is better than 12? And Sec V is better than possibly the front. I wish all bands and venues would just quit using TM. and 9 bucks per ticket for fees . Take that money and improve your "best available" search options. total bs.
But I got tickets so I''m happpy. ;D
thanks for that pic, slappymoe!
i think all the tix are coming up "limited view". not sure why.
i pulled a res. seat w-limited view. when i couldn't find a good seating chart i released the tic and did another search. pulled a GA. it also said "limited view".
i bought the GA. :coffee: (it's 7:30 am here. too early to toast with beer. although, i can think of a few people here who would argue that point...)

i've had it explained to me that sometimes, especially as a sale starts, there are lots of tickeks being "held" as people consider whether to buy them or not. they decide not to buy, those tix get released. that might explain why better seats come up when you search again.
i'm not going to sweat the limited view thing anymore. the pics i've seen all look good to me.
see you guys there!!!!

And so it begins...
On eBay, 4 tickets, Section E, Row 14, Buy it Now for $666! I knew ticket brokers were evil, but this clinches it.
HolyShizz $666 is a crime!
I attempted to get GA throughout day until I was just matched with Section W Row 8. Can't be bothered with anymore Ticketmaster trickery.
This photo taken from Section R gives a good reference point for the entire venue....

Sorry rusty, didn't mean to do that.
I hear you about TM though. I even had them on the phone and they only had that generic chart with the x1,x2, x3 etc. The guy even got a supervisor and still couldn't find out anything.
I decided to wait until Monday, and try to contact someone at UK. Hopefully I'll be able to get some answers, and if I do, I'll post what I find out. I'd really like to come down from Jersey again, but I'd definitely like to be on the floor or in a good reserved.
One thing I'm pretty sure of is the stage will be on the end opposite sec. A. They offered me seats in that section and looking at one of the photos in this thread, sec A is right next to the concrete end wall, and would be totally obstructed if the stage were on that end, imo.
Just spoke to someone at UK and they told me Ticketmaster had mislabeled all the sections as limited view. The only limited view sections would be sections G and T on the north side of the arena.

well, that solves that mystery. we opted for seats this time, looks like they're pretty good.
thanks for the info.

If it is not on the floor I don't know where it would be; but with that being said I would be surprised that the students didn't buy up all the floor tickets.
I got seats in row W. It said limited view and i don't know what that means for the memorial Colosseum but just breathing the same air will be just fine with me!

previously in the thread we have confirmed all seats are labeled limited viewing. It's a misprint.

I spoke to Josh Lucas with Student Activities @ UK and he said yes, "ga" is floor, unless it has a section on it. ie;the double lettered sections on the upper east side of the arena... the red section on the seating chart.
He also said the floor is all "ga standing" and no seats at all on it.
Stage is on North end of arena, and as stated earlier...only sections G and T could have a limited view.Depending on how far out the stage comes, these could end up being side stage sections.
K, thanks for the info eric. This may be my first time on the rail. Oooohh I can't wait.
This looks like a decent place for a pre-show
anyone know anything about this place?

Good pizza, great beer selection. Five minute walk to coliseum. Can get crowded sometimes but can't imagine it would be on a Sunday night.

You got it rusty.
Good luck with the rail. Definitely the place to be. I was lucky enough to see three of the five T5 shows from the rail in front of Carl, and those shows are burned in my memory forever.
Hope you get to the rail for this show and get to have the same experience.
Ticketmaster fixed the label - nothing says Limited View anymore :)
does anyone know how the seating is set up for this show?

There are only two hotels I can think of within walking distance, the Hilton and the Hyatt - both downtown. Both are fairly nice. Staying anywhere else you are going to have to drive or get a cab. The Marriott Griffin Gate is probably the nicest hotel in town, but its about a 10 minute drive from the arena, and not really near anything of interest.
hey, kbshep, i've come to terms with the fact that there will be no beer sales at the show itself :'(, but i was wondering if lexington/fayette allows any alcohol sales on sunday. we're playing golf there (maybe griffin gate) that afternoon, will we be able to get our drink on? any bars/pubs open on sundays for our post-golf, pre-show meal?
or should we smuggle in all the booze we need from the 502?

Check earlier in the thread, I posted a link of a place that is open on sunday and has happy hour every day from 4-7. Only 5 min walk to the venue, Haven't seen much feedback but I have my eye on this spot.

yeah, seconds after my last post i realized i could use this interweb-surfing contraption to find the answer for myself. good to see they're not dry.
pazzo's looks as good as anything, but where we end up will depend on how much time we have after golf. if we're cutting it too close, we might even end up eating golf course clubhouse food.
Yes you can drink on Sunday in lexington and Pazzo's is the spot for this venue. I would use priceline.com to bid on a hotel if you want to save some money. You should be able to get a room cheap on a Sunday. Also keeneland will be running that weekend if you want to got to the races.
I agree with mgriff73, if the weather is nice try to get out to Keeneland if you want to make a true Kentucky weekend out of it.
being on campus, does this venue have alcohol?
I'm still on the fence about this show.Took the plunge on Red Rocks, so I might have to pass, but....
I keep checking for a re-release of ga's or a real nice reserved, thinking that might convince me to drive from Jersey, and saw there are section F available on TM now. Getting closer to the stage than what was there a week ago.
It's going to be a great weekend in the bluegrass. Horses, bourbon, and jacket is match made in heaven.

I'm sure it will be!
We didn't get any horses in October, but we sure got plenty of bourbon and Jacket. ;)
Just thinking about it makes me want to make that long drive again. The fact it's on a Sunday might help a bit. I'd drive down Sat. and home Monday, instead of the day of the show and home the next morning, like we did last time. Man, that was rough, but worth it.
Venue will not sell alcohol. Its a dry campus.
Hotels downtown will be booked due to Keeneland or 300 a night. Comfort Suites on Harrodsburg Road will be the closest and the best bet for people not looking to spend 300 a night.
I got pretty well screwed on tickets, so I am needing GA seats if at all possible. Not exactly thinking it will happen.
Wish me luck!

probably one of the first place they'll play there new tracks. lucky ducks have a good time.
Only 2 WEEKS 'til the next live MMJ show! Lucky ducks!
Wonder how many new songs they'll bust out? I'm gonna say....4 (circuital and wonderful included.)
Sounds about right, I'm not gonna expect too much new stuff due to the release date. The anticipation for black metal is building for me though, I'm hopin' for that one.
Of course this could be a good rehearsal for the up coming festivals and tours and would allow the band to get some feedback before the summer starts.

I used that same argument in anticipation of the State Theatre show in Portland, Maine just before the T5 run. I wasn't disappointed, as they dusted off a bunch of oldies, sort of rehearsing for T5.
I'd expect some new stuff starting with this show. Might be the tune they'll release as the download next week. Should be exciting, their first performance since Halloween in New Orleans last year. Well, that and their VH1 Storytellers taping, I guess.
Hey all--New to this forum and had a question: has anyone on here ever gone to a show by his or herself? I couldn't get anybody to go with me on Sunday and just finally said f*** it and bought a single ticket. I mean, it's always been my experience that there's no point in trying to talk to the person next to me while the music's playing anyway, but it's still a new experience for me.

A Jacket show is a great place to be on your own. You shouldn't have any trouble finding fellow fan-atics. I'd suggest you check out any pre-show plans posted here or PM someone from the roll call. I did three shows in a week last year by myself and found plenty of folks to hang with pre-, post-, and during the shows. Have fun!
Were closing in on this now, boys and girls. This week we get a new song, a rsd single, and the first show of the year. :D
Bunk... you will have a blast. Going solo to shows is fun. Like you said, no need to talk during the show. But maybe McNulty will join you next time around??
For those looking for a hotel that is close - you can easily walk to the venue from this hotel it would be the closest:
Holiday Inn Express Hotel Lexington -
www.hiexpress.com (http://www.hiexpress.com) - 1000 Export Street, Lexington - (859) 389-6800
You can also easily walk from any of the downtown hotels - hilton, hyatt, etc
Do any of you know about the Inn on Broadway? It is almost suspiciously cheap (~$65)
I have never stayed there but it's close and looks good.

Someone told me that Jim was quoted in RS saying that they wouldn't play the new songs until Chicago.
So I'm thinkin' maybe they'll put some closure on EU by playing the shit out of it before they move forward to the Circuital era.
mixed in with some oldies and a few new ones (friends, circuital, wonderful, maybe one we haven't heard)
Octoplasm live for the first time would be sweeet.

I think I remember reading something after EU came out how Jim wasn't crazy about a lot of their new songs already being known so well before the album came out. Part of that was due to the leak, but they also played ACL and it aired on NPR. Didn't he actually end up requesting they take it down until after EU was released? Anyway, I'm pretty sure he said something about not playing too many songs before they are released again.
I have two general admission tickets that are no longer spoken for, if anyone here is interested. They're not student tickets. (Yeah, I know they say they're not going to check ID's. Just saying it won't be an issue regardless.)
I'm not a scalper.

The new dondante wasn't the Fela Kuti version with Carl on the sax in the beginning like they did at Bonnaroo 06 was it?
Have to agree about the crowd being horrible. Tons of talk, tons of glow sticks, tons of people shocked that a new album is coming out, saw several people actually making fun of others for "rocking out". Have to say that the crowd seemed like the crowd i'd get from the UK SAB and students, but hey it's a state university in a collge town. After Touch Me 2 I actually said that it was the Quitest cheer for an encore I've ever seen.
sorry for the mistake with (remnants)

i am eager to get to sleep so i'll post this one note:
attn BH:
tonight's dondante was a NEW VARIATION.
still not a full omnichord version, but significantly different. :D terrific!
crowd note: quite a few people around me were loaded when they came in. by the time mmj was well into their set, they had run out of steam. they were having a great time, but they were quieter by then. ;D
also: i know you were all there, but i didn't see one person i recognized in that crowd. did you all have seats?
i keep wanting to write more about the show, but must. go. to. sleep. i watched the sun come up over lake michigan from an El platform in 36ยบ weather today. this whole "bed" business is brilliant right now.
so, monday morning while i drink the complimentary coffee in the lobby, i'll add some notes. :coffee:
and this: i had a FANTASTIC TIME!
*closing laptop on my own fingers to keep from typing more...*

Oh, my goodness (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZ5GExe7YK8#)
This was one of my favorite performances of Gideon. Jim came over and just kind of rubbed his head all over tom's shoulder and back while they were just tearing it up. Dancefloors was great. They played the end of Run Thru and it kicked so much ass.
I got about halfway home (which is Oldham County) and had a blowout. Had to change a tire on the side of I-64 in pitch black. A state trooper pulled up behind me to assist. While we were making conversation, he said "What were you doing in Lexington?" "Concert." Who was playing?" "My Morning Jacket." "Did they play Off The Record?"
Then we had a setlist discussion while I looked like an ass for not knowing how to get my spare out from where it's bolted up under my van.

That's a
great story :)
(I mean, sorry you had a blow out and you looked like an ass, but these great stories normally don't just "happen")
wow, being at work is AWESOME.
they started with the heat and never really let up until golden, which was fantastic with ben sollee, very haunting and seemed even slower than normal.
Gideon had a different ending, at least to me.
dondante was completely overhauled, yet again. i think this is the 3rd new dondante i have seen since last spring.
butch cassidy was a nice treat and a needed respite. gave me a chance to rest my aching back.
FULL LAYLOW!!!!!!! still only got 1/2 of run thru though. this needs to stop.
crowd wise, i didnt really see that many light sticks or d-bags. it just seemed that no one was really into it. we were on the side about 15 rows up and just off the front of the stage. the floor looked completely dead, small pockets of people getting after it, but the floor as a whole, didnt seem to be rockin too hard.
just one more reason to hate lexington
did anyone se any tapers? i did not see a rig.
Poster is really nice quality. Heavy paper and nice screen print only 16 x 20 but I like different sizes.
poster now available on cricketpress for purchase
wow, the effort jim puts into these shows is astounding. circuital was my top highlight, it strikes me as a very Who-like anthem, and i loves me some Who.
from my seats in sec. V (jim's side), the crowd seemed pretty active all night. not the largest crowd you'll ever see, but i think we gave back a lot.
sadly, i "lost" carl's guitar about halfway through the show. i could see him wailing on it, but couldn't hear it very well. not sure whether to blame acoustics or old age.
i was so glad to hear them start into "lowdown," but then something about it didn't click for me. once again, was it the sound in the hall or just my ears?
that's as close to complaining as i'll get. all in all, another wonderful rock and roll concert. can't wait to see them again in the summer/fall.
What's up with the 1/2 Run Thru. That's my favorite song... The build up to the second half is what makes the second 1/2 so effective. This needs to change.

I will admit, I always kind of thought you had to EARN the end of that song with the first part. Plus when they go back to the opening riff at the end, it's brings the whole thing together nicely. Kind of circuitalish, if you will.

Can someone cite a specific example of the Dondante variations to which you are referring? I think I know what you mean, but can't quite put my finger on it. I'd love to go back to listen to some good examples of the variants, including (of course) a recording of last night's performance (or maybe a good You Tube vid). Much obliged.
Glad you had a good time. Love the state trooper story; bummer about the flat. Bummer, too, about the Remnants and PWW tease. Sometimes its best to not know what they cut from a setlist.
Surprised they didn't add any new songs, not one. Circuital and Wonderful no longer count. When will they debut live, I wonder.
Was the Gideon ending the same as they did last year, extended guitar riffs with Patrick tearing it up? Not sure how to describe it. Kinda like from 3:20 on in the video below.
http://youtu.be/gpDyqpjjHJY (http://youtu.be/gpDyqpjjHJY)
the dondante in bham/nashville last spring was the first "new" one i heard, then the YUM show was a completely different version, now this. Dondante seemed to always be played the same way until last spring, now they seem to switch it up every tour... god love em.
that (video) might be the same version of gideon, i would need to listen to last night again. the best way i could describe it is the guitars had kind of a shimmering sound to them and were incredibly fast. it may not be new, but it certainly sounded new to these ears... anyone else confirm/deny?
there was no remnants teaser, i do not know where that guy came up with it. i am a little bummed there was no PWW, the new version of that (YUM) was the highlight of the show for me.
i heard no more new songs till chicago.
once again, i did not see a taper, but those fellas can be pretty sneaky.
**fingers crossed**

The Fela Kuti version from Roo 06 that I mentioned before is one, that's the only one ive heard where the first half was changed. The Roo 08 intro was more guitary than normal, but still pretty much the same. The t5 outro was more spacey and jammed out.
I think my highlight last night was Lowdown. That was the first time that I had finally seen it... Then Butch Cassidy really surprised me. He told a story that he wrote Butch Cassidy in Lexington in his year or 2 at UK. Between that and the fact that they just released the t5 version, I guess it was expected, but still blew my mind that I got to see it. They didn't play It Beats 4 U with surprises me after T5 releases. Great set list all in all though.
Before the encore I looked at my lady and said "Wordless, Touch Me 1, Highly Suspicious, some random song, maybe Phone Went West, and One Big Holiday to finish it." I think that maybe Jim heard me and wanted to make me look smart so he played those songs and printed up a false set list real quick with PWW on it.

AGREED!!!!
Gideon and Lowdown owned me!! Loved all the change ups and the fact that the band was giving all and having an absolute blast despite the lack luster crowd. Somewhere in between Laylow and Dondante everyone finished their power naps and finally "got it"! Jim was so chatty reminiscing about his UK days.
So Jim went to UK? I'm not up on my MMJ band member histories.
The crowd was mostly young college kids (on the floor at least). Kind of a strange atmosphere for a MMJ show.
The band sounded great. I'm ready for some new songs, though. I feel like I've seen roughly the same show the last few times. All in all it was good, but I couldn't get into as much as usual.
Not too much else to add then what has already been said. Loved 'Butch Cassidy.' Loved the ever evolving 'Dondante.' Can't wait to see that one again later this year. I did find this video though:
http://consequenceofsound.net/2011/04/watch-my-morning-jacket-wonderful-the-way-i-feel/ (http://consequenceofsound.net/2011/04/watch-my-morning-jacket-wonderful-the-way-i-feel/)
Also, did anybody else see the guy get tackled by security backstage? I think only the people on the left side closer to the stage were probably able to see it, but about halfway through 'Golden' security tackled some guy in the tunnel behind the stage the guys came out of during the night. Anyone know anything about this?
great reviews you guys .. thanks for sharing

from stella to ben to the boys. last night was so great. theres a particular picture of carl in there that i like a lot. good work.
I filmed Lowdown and Golden w/ Sollee and will post when I upload to youtube.
I made the local paper here in Lexington. It was on the front page of the paper today so quite a few people hit me up today saying they saw it. Funny shit really. http://www.kentucky.com/2011/04/18/1711562/my-morning-jacket-thrills-its.htmlr (http://www.kentucky.com/2011/04/18/1711562/my-morning-jacket-thrills-its.htmlr)
P.S. I hate fucking glow sticks
Great shots -- thanks for posting! Man Carl is getting some pretty bad ass rock and roll hair going there.
bangin' setlist and pics but am kinda' in the I need to see some new stuff camp...
**posting from a starbucks :coffee: of hwy 64 in frankfort on my way back to louisville from lexington**
dead, think of it this way: when the new album comes out some of these songs will be off the set list. best to get in a few listens before they go the way of "O".
--last night they opened with "magheeta". the last time i saw them play that was THE night i broke my foot at T5. b/c it was ISM night, that song opened their set. when they opened with it last night i was able to throw down in my usual-leaping-about-whiplash-inducing-fashion rather than balancing on my leg. kind of Set Things Right and Good.
--butch cassidy: stunner of the night. wow wow wow.
--circuital: some version of this would fit nicely in a Bridge School set-list. just planting a seed... ;)
(and now it isn't sleep but a low-battery that is compelling me to shut the computer. still i need to get on the road if i want to get to l'ville b4 all the restaurants close)
I rather like that we didn't get any new songs. It's fun wondering how songs from the album will translate live, but it can be nerve-wracking the other way around. And you know i couldn't resist a youtube bootleg if it were out there ;).
Also, according to that Amazon clip, we're less than 10 days away from the Holdin on to Black Metal single! Good times on the horizon.
I have mixed feelings about no new songs. One, had we had a bunch of new songs we mightve not gotten Low Down or Butch Cassidy or Epic Dondante intro. However, of the 5 times I have tickets to see them this year (including last night), 3 of the sets are pre-chicago, and by three I'll be way more than ready.

I just plowed through all of the youtubes from Sunday night I could find. Well worth doing - great as always and a good story before Evil Urges.
Regarding dondante, it's gone from all sparse and eerie to a heavier kashmir crunch. See My Morning Jacket Lexington (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMwXDBgBj9k#)
Damn good vid! Too bad it cuts off :-\
I see! :o
this is awesome
if they play it like this.. it might just rock my swimming trunks off..

has this show been torrented?
ive got pretty good eyes and we were sitting in the stands above the floor. i did not see a rig and asked a few people on the floor if they saw one hidden. as far as i know, no luck.
aww hell.
in retrospect, this show had an amazing setlist. Butch Cassidy, Evil Urges, Lowdown, Wonderful Man, Dancefloors, PWW, Highly, Lay Low, Way He Sings, as well as the usual suspects. A Mageetah opener into Anytime. This was the last pre-Circuital show too... And we all got to go to the meet n greet, which fell on record store day. damn what a weekend that was!
yes and yes. everything about this show was great... except the crowd.
Yeah that was the worst crowd ever. Actually that was my least favorite experience at an MMJ show but I wish there was a recording
PWW got cut didn't it? And yes, the crowd (not to mention security and giant walls of concrete to echo the sound everywhere) sucked....
This was my first MMJ show. Stood in the GA crowd and had a blast. Ranks up there with one of the best I've seen. I've seen them 5 times now.
