There is no way it's all five shows and covers is there? That would be like 15 records. Is that even possible?

Yeah, I mean figure each album, despite expansions on the song, can fit on one disc. Combined with bsides and covers, that's like a second album. Maybe EU might be a hard night to fit since it felt like the second set far outlasted the first. But if we get Sweet Nuthin and Carried Away I'd be super-stoked.

was doing some fuzzy math on this and i imagine it won't be cheap or they are going to have to cut some corners.
figure each show (main set) is an hour +. That equals double vinyl for each of the main sets. So there you already have 10 rekkids.
will this be more than 10!?!
maybe they would do the vinyl treatment for the "best of" from each night and then there would be digital files for the shows in their entirety. Or even the main sets (albums) on record =10 and all of the encoures being included as additional downloads.
i would love to have it all on vinyl but i imagine that would cost somewhere around $400. And do bands release 15+ record boxsets? haha
I never saw where it said this was going to be a T-5 box set. If it is T-5 it would be pointless to do a best of. The intrigue about these shows was that it was each album in its entirety. I could see them releasing each night as its own box. This way everyone that's not a freak like me can just buy the Z night and/or the Evil Urges night and be done with it.
I'd like to see them release each night/boxset about a month apart. It would give us time to spend with each night and prevent me from trying to stay up all night listening to the entire 25 records in a row. :)
yeah, that makes sense. I'd be cool with individual ones. heck, i'll be cool with anything. even if it is $500 :)
T5 hasn't been confirmed though. just speculatin' is all. sweet sweet speculatin'
I can't imagine this being a vinyl box set if it is a T5 box set, that's a lot of vinyl. I could be wrong though. It's all hearsay and speculation.
It'll be 24 bit master audio for all 5 shows on one blu-ray disc. ;)
that would be so sweet if it was T5, but I would expect that to be EX PEN SIVE

It's pretty sweet, I must admit. Honestly, I can't imagine having something twice as big and heavy, although I'd love to.
Maybe release the shows separately and then a custom case to store them? I dunno if they'd announce it as a "box set" if that were the case....
I'm going to go out on a negative limb and say there is no damn way they are going to put every song that was played at T5 on vinyl. I am assuming now that the box set will consist of T5 material, yes, but the whole shebang? No way. I am dearly hoping for the aforementioned 5 separate releases of each show in their own boxes, but I would still imagine those to be abridged versions...that said, I can't see doing that and not including each of the first "album" sets in their entirety. I guess I'm assuming they'll leave out certain 2nd-set tunes.
I'm only saying this about the vinyl version, because there can be no doubt at all that every single second of each show will eventually be made available at least in digital form. Right?

So with the record release show being filmed for video release.......any chance that this could be the "Live Box Set" that they were talking about? It would make much more sense than all 5 Terminal 5 shows (though I still hope they are released someday). Having a 3+ hour show with a lot of new material may be what they want on the forthcoming live box set.
If there's been some update on the boxset and what it will be then my mistake....I just thought of this.
or they'll play all of the new album plus b-sides and will be added to the t-5 set. that would be nice.

I get what you're saying. It makes a good deal of sense. But I honestly don't believe they would have released T5 polished tracks if it wasn't the live box set that they mentioned. That would be too great of a tease for anyone to handle
I really hope the live box set is not just the 5/31 show. That would be disappointing to me. That isn't to say I wouldn't buy it but I really am hoping some type of archive release that digs through their entire career.

I also don't think they would have discussed a forthcoming live box set if said release was from a yet-to-be played show. I'm sure they would need to give the show(s) a listen before deciding if the music and quality of recordings were good enough to be released. It's gotta be some form of a T5 release.

I was going to say that too. The deluxe Circuital package isn't going to come with 4 downloads that won't even exist when its released. Guys look, its t5. The real question here is if its going to be all of it or not. (Im leaning towards not, but who knows.)

If (please, when) T5 is released as a multi-lp boxed set, it will be worth the cost.

Rainbow........Double Rainbow!
i'm putting my money on it being a digital box set or a CD's only... Okonokos was 4 records...
Has there ever been a 20 LP box set aside from some beatles full on studio albums shit?
Or maybe they'll just have the album tracks and skip the extras and b-sides. That'd make a box set of records more like 10.
I mean, i'd love it but damn, that's a lot of records and therefore a lot of money.
say okonokos was $30 right? $150 isn't unreal for a set of vinyl... i've seen Bob Dylan 4 disc sets go for more.

If its not the whole thing, I think it'll be selected songs with covers and b sides included, but not the full shows. As long as it includes Masterplan, how the gods kill and honest man ill be happy.
It'd be nice if it was T5 + the upcoming Palace/Circuital show.
This band has so much GREAT live material they could release a box set with 100 records and it would kill!

We don't. That was speculation on my part a while ago and others made good points about why the box set would more likely be something like the T5 shows. Now with the downloads I think it's pretty much confirmed we'll get a live at T5 box set.

sooooooo.....any news?

Yea I just want it now! I'm spoiled! lol
Maybe they're waiting for the holiday season or the Black Friday Record Store Day or something like that. I'm just glad it's being worked on.
I wouldn't expect anything until next year or later...the boys just came out with a new album, they're on a summer tour and they better be busy working on a fall tour, plus a new year's show (I am wishing). So maybe next spring...
but I hope I'm wrong and it comes out before the holiday season...I need to buy something for myself...
i think it'll be end of this year

That's what I was thinking (guessing) too. I don't think they would have mentioned it a few months ago and hold on to it until 2012.

With "Circuital" out, My Morning Jacket is making a few future plans. The Terminal 5 catalog shows, Hallahan says, were recorded and will likely be released as a vinyl box set and possibly as digital downloads. "We're looking to release 'em at some point. We just have a lot of listening to do, five nights of two and a half hour sets," he says.

If not this year, then I'd expect it next year. But being August, to get these things properly mixed, edited, pressed, packaged, etc while touring seems fairly uh...ambitious to say the least.
Being that, I still hope we get full shows, and not mix downs that are the albums plus b-sides but no covers.

they do have 2 months off before the euro tour, though!
There's been a lot of chatter about this lately and while I have no inside info, I can't imagine it being released til next Record Store Day at the very earliest if not much later. From all the tidbits pulled from Pat and Bo's interviews, they got a lot of listening and mixing to do plus Circ just came out. I hope they get the licensing for ALL the covers

this is what I've been thinking. xmas is too soon after a tour and another tour and a third tour of 2011 plus circuital. so much to do so little time! plus marketing!
All credit goes to Dillsnufus for bringing this to my attention in another thread:

"MMJ: Well, we actually recorded our 5 consecutive shows in Terminal 5 in New York. We played all 5 records, one a night for those 5 nights, and the hardcore fans have been dying to have us release those concerts. But we're talking 99 songs, to mix them together, get high sound quality, put together the art work; we just haven't had enough time. We're not releasing anything that isn't up to our standards."

So excited about this. Knowing it's being worked on makes me a happy MMJ Fan.
Sweet!
possibly my most anticipated release for sooo long.

:tongue:wish they would hurry up!
I'm guessing the others will work on this while Jim is touring for his solo album this winter/spring. Maybe we'll see a fall 2013 release... all speculation.
Ok, im totally lost. Where is this box set you speak of, and where can I order one?
It was recorded at the T5 shows and occasionally gets mentioned in interviews, but it hasn't been released yet. They still have to mix it. We meanwhile are patiently waiting because what else can we do.

I care. Thanks
No news on this still, huh? Still really hope it's coming at some point. Dying for this to be in my collection.
I still think this is coming before the next album drops. I have faith!
They should announced a release date for the 5 shows when the new tour will announce for 2014 or something...Or maybe after the recording of the new album, say New Year's? I dunno. Dying to have it!
It's not coming...if it was, then it would have already
yeah wonder what the deal is with it. this would be an awesome record store day release.. or at the very least a live.mmj.com release. JUST GIVE US SOMETHINGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHSLDFJLSDJFLSJFLSDFJ
if it came down to this or a new album I would choose a new album anyday of the week... my MMJ live fix was satisfied with the red rocks and port chester sets.

I think that would depend on if they released the covers, especially the first night when they covered Sabbath and Danzig, etc. Those are some awesome songs that I don't think they'll pull out anytime soon.
Look, itrainmonkeys! Nothing to report!
However, I think recent speculations more than legitimize my long-held belief that we will one day be presented with a beautiful 15-LP box set containing every single minute of T5 in its entirety, which will come complete with the following: a 200-page 12x12 hardcover book featuring full color photos and essays written by each member of the band; newly-found old stock of all five posters autographed by the artists; and a set of five beer coozies with the album covers on them.
In heaven.
Cruel, cruel bump.

Cruel, cruel bump.
The cruelest of bumps lol.
Only way it would be more cruel is if it was bumped on April 1st and the post was about a release date.
I'd be fine with a heaven that consisted of this box set that Crispy described haha. I'm still holding out hope for a release one day.
It's now three years and ten days since I first posted in this thread.
