For those of us that have Sirius/XM satellite radio, Jim will be on the Spectrum (Channel28) this coming Monday 5/23 at 4 pm EST to play Circuital in its entirely and to discuss each track.
;D ;D ;D
Damn someone record
ooooh i will be on a flight back from HANGOUT :) I guess that's a good reason to miss it.
Finally we get to hear YWFO :D
Whaaa!!! Looks like I'll be doing a trial membership for monday :) The possibility of hearing new tunes at Hangout is starting to seem a lot more likely!
That is an odd choice of channel, no? I mean if I remember, they mainly just spin I'm Amazed and that's it.
Figured Jam_ON or XMU play more variety of Jacket songs and the album would fit in better there.

Yeah, I thought it was an odd choice too. Though they have been playing Holding On To Black Metal lately.
WOOHOO to 7 day free trials and a less than a weeks notice :D

Black Metal? On Spectrum? The channel that plays Norah Jones and Barenaked Ladies?

I was just as surprised as well... But they get some play on XMU, AltNation, the Spectrum, and lots of Bonnaroo tunes on Jam_On... Which is my personal favorite.
Ooooh, so want to hear this! :D
This will be re-aired again on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday of this week if you have to miss it today!

Awesome! I've got an interview at 3pm today, so I might not make it today, but I can record the stream online for later broadcasts. If successful, I'll post a download link here soon for those without Sirius/XM.
So, looks like this will be airing again at 11pm TONIGHT!!!
My virginity is in serious jeopardy.

Isn't this more like phone sex, though? You won't be in the same room with the album, so it might be okay. No pressure...
or is it more like a dirty one night stand??

So just so Im not confuused, theyre playing the studio album and not live versions, correct?
Yep, studio album ... I was hoping for live versions when I first read this thread as well...
THey are playing the studio versions, I'll be listening, they have been running promo's for it all weekend. The Spectrum is a great channel, Black Metal has been on the top 20 for that station for a while no as well.
In the end, Im kind of glad I held out until now to hear the album for the first time. For the first listen, the man himself will be telling me how these tunes came to fruition. WOO-muthafuckin-HOO!!!
For those who can't hear... it just started. Victory Dance "was shown to him by the universe" after LASIK surgery... apparently, the little vocal flourish at the beginning was the first bit he had in his head, and the rest grew from there.
holy fuck is victory dance awesome
He needs his own radio station. Jamesian smoothspeak on the radiowaves makes for a great afternoon- lovin this!!
:dankk2: ,Yimmy
Circuital is about how everything comes back around to same place where it started... he mentions how the vibrations from this record are "circular" as opposed to "triangular" on Evil Urges.
The Day Is Coming composed in the Louvre, apparently!
The Day is Coming is one of my early favorites!! Love the melody

pretty cool...so far I think they have found this "happy medium" of a sound in between Z and EU.
The band attempted to record Wonderful (The Way I Feel) in many different ways for Evil Urges, but playing it acoustic so often made it feel natural that way... reminds him of being at the country fair.
Outta My System was the Muppet story... you know, given how wild the Electric Mayhem band was back in the day, I suppose the drug lyrics may not have been so out of place after all ;).
Holdin' On To Black Metal- "kind of a joke and kind of serious" about your grandparents calling black metal the devils music, but also about holding onto something for too long when it's time to move on. Friends in Louisville provided the backing vocals.
Outta My System sounds like Two Halves cooler brother...I wish they took it up a notch and jammed it out towards the end, but still solid.
yeah loved his description of Black Metal. Holding on to stuff too long when it's time to move on...
Black Metal was the first tune I'll need to listen to a lot more to know how I feel about it...I got a psychedelic vibe from it though which might be a first for MMJ
First Light slowly worked it's way up from an underrated demo into something that everyone liked. It's just about "finding your inner light."
First Light is gonna jam live
You Wanna Freak Out just about letting yourself freak out. :)
Keep giving updates on what he says, I have a meeting to go to :(

New favorite from the album. sweet sweet pedal steel from heaven....
Slow Slow Tune is the "lead-up" to the end, was originally earlier in the record. Jim considers it the "grandfather" of the record, looking back at all the earlier songs.
This album is awesome but far, far too short..Cant believe theres only 1 more song!
Movin Away is the "grandmother" of the record about moving and changing, in particular about falling in love with someone far away and deciding who's gonna be the one to move, all the people you'll miss and all the ones you won't, and the possibility of starting a new life for yourself.
HA! So dry when he said it but it cracked me up. "...And that's the final thing I have to say. Here's the grandmother of our new album."
Thanks for the posts too The DARK. Pretty spot-on rundown of the proceedings for those who couldn't listen.
I think JJ's falsetto or soprano or whatever the hell its called on Movin Away just busted my laptop speakers.....shit

Yep thanks for the updates, I was listening but missed half of what he said.
I caught the entire show this morning-and wow :) Like a mini-Storytellers for each song, and his description of what inspired "Movin' Away" is awesome. I could listen to that man talk for hours on end....
For anyone who didn't catch it, they said it'll repeat on Sirius Spectrum ch 28 tonight, at 11pm EST.
Off the record, I've heard Jam_ON jamming some of the T5 tracks lately, always a treat!
I'm excited after hearing this, as the mix is very different from the leak'd version. Can't wait to hear the CD and vinyl versions, the official digital DL, and radio broadcasts. I've been listening to the Black Metal/Butch Cassidy CD single and hear a difference with both of those, as well. On top of that, I get a different listening experience on the home 7.1, the computer 2.1, the kitchen under-counter CD player, my car, etc. Even the NPR stream sounds different and better than the leak.
thanks for all the updates on the broadcast .. i enjoyed reading it while drinking my b'fast smoothie  gonna listen to the NPR release again when i get to work :)
Got my computer set to record Spectrum!
It's been hard not reading what everyone has posted!

This would explain why I was able to enjoy the entire album tonight at my favorite local beer establishment while watching the Indians game!
First when Victory Dance came on, I was like, BONUS! Then Circuital folllowed and I was thinking is this 2 for Tuesday??? :D Then, The Day Is Coming started and I knew I was indeed being treated to a special treat!
I also thought, what if I was a virgin? I wouldn't have been able to enjoy these special tunes in the same way!
BTW... I LOVE Wonderful... :)
I need a recording of this.

Thank you so much.
Good man! Gracias.
Thanks for the recording!
This album is so full of circular songs unlike all those triangles on EU
Dude you RULE. Thanks.
