Ok, so we are getting close to August and the Roll Call for the Merriweather Post Show is awesome (although we are missing some good forum peeps!). Time to start planning the pre-show tailgate party. Not sure if I missed anything in the MP Roll Call thread but it may be time to plan a party in the parking lot.
I know a bunch of us are staying local at the Sheraton next door to MPP but I think we need to start planning a killer pre-show party. Suggestions?
I'll bring the Grey Goose. :beer:
Just a heads up...while the Sheraton is the closest hotel to MPP and walkable, it's still a good 10 -15 minute walk. Probably about what McGees was to T5 ;)
reading this made me realize that i haven't tailgated at MPP in like 10 years. yikes. i think i was 17 or 18.
Wish I was coming to this show... My tailgate when MMJ played there last year was a blast.
For anybody else not going, my friend's band Chamberlin is playing in New Jersey that night!
Just keep us up to date on which lot you guys are going to have your tailgate in. I figure we'll be in the lot by 4 with some cornhole and whatnot. Do we know yet when Neko comes on?

It's the "whatnot" that I look forward to. Definitely looking forward to Neko's set. She is awesome.

Will either take a half day or the whole day. Will bring Ketel One and cranberry juice. Hee hee. What time did we start last year? 3:00? I went to the gate with Sass/ALady about 5:30(?) in order to get in the front and it worked out well. We took drinks to the gate, so we'll have a portable tailgate if needed. So excited to see you all.
I think we showed up to the JD Bartender set up around 3:30 or 4. Our location last year was totally fine, though I might go a little closer this time. I remember prior to the show last year, there was a whole lot of chatter about the strictness of the parking lot, but we were fine.
Is JD going this year? Has anyone heard from him?

I think I might get down there a bit earlier and swing by the venue before checking in, and pick up my tix. MPP has two box offices. The West one opens @ 10:00 am day of shows,(hopefully that has a will call) and the other (South inside) opens two hrs. before doors. I'd love to have my tix in hand before the parties start. ;)
edit: West box office does have a will call, and tix can be picked up there on day of show from 10:00am on. :thumbsup:

I've heard from a friend who lives in DC that they recently have started enforcing the no alcohol rule that is in place in the last three months or so. Friend and a couple others said they got ticketed. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

according to the MPP FAQ, alcohol is prohibited so maybe they do ticket???

Yeah it said the same thing last year but wasn't enforced....or at least not around me.
Unless the rules changed drastically from last year, there will NOT be a problem tailgating, even with bottles as long as we're not disruptive a-holes. Last year we went to the gate super early and I ran back to the car to get a bag o' beer. I passed them out to all the diehards waiting at the entrance and no one said a word to me. It will be fine and the Jacket love will protect us from harm
Question...what time is the fun going to start? I just got August work schedule today and there's a chance I can change that Friday and leave Hershey at 1:30. I can check into the hotel awhile, but will anyone be there that early? 3:00ish?

Our convoy (or Canyonero) is leaving Philly around 12:30 so hoping to get there rather early (Sheraton). The second we step out of the car will signal the 1st cracking of the beers
Working like a mofo the next 2 weeks so I need not worry about anything once we arrive. Lord do I need some time off work. Can't think of a better way to spend a day off :beer: :D

Me and j_rud got there around 3 last year, and save a few other people, were the only ones standing in line until about 5. We had no idea there was even another entrance until about 6oclock or so. :-\

Technically the check-in at the Sheraton is not until 3pm so you should be a-okay. :thumbsup:
Liz and I are probably getting there a little bit earlier. I requested an early check in just so we're not in a total rush but who knows if they will honor that.

Me and +1 might try to make this, probably bring a ton of craft beers to share and some Champagne and some burbon and/or scotch. That there is a thread for the tailgate for this show is a testament to how epic last year's show was and how much fun this year's is gonna be! This is definitely the highlight of my summer and I'm so looking forward to seeing everyone again....it's been way too long!!

Does anyone know what time the soundcheck thing begins? I just found out I have a ticket for that, but I also need to coordinate with someone who has my ticket at will call. Could I be any more disorganized?!?
