because i sure am!
:bath: I'm so stoked I'm soaked <----- that's what she said...
No but seriously, I was thinking this morning that "HOTBM" is going to register in the same manner as Clapton doing "Cocaine" at Budokan... That is the one I REALLY can't wait for...
I cannot wait to see a video of all the Japanese hipsters yelling "HORDING ON TO BRACK METAR" (not racist, just a written impression see:Clapton "KUH-KEN" for proof) gonna be epic. I bet my friend Erin, who lives in Japan is gonna be there now that I think of it!!!!
Since they were there in 2009, I don't see them being very different from the circuital your set lists. In fact id consider this the end of the circuital tour. The european set lists will be insane, and hopefull the US festival dates see some relief from that structure
I don't know...I really think each leg is unto itself as the band evolves. I think there are certainly patterns, but they are masters of surprise when you least expect it, so I think it'll be interesting to see where they go...
excited enough to make me just go look up the time difference in Japan....
Excited that they'll have a horn section, and to see what songs they do with it,other than the obvious ones.
I'm just enjoying all of the travelogue pics they're sending via twitter. Really makes me want to head to Japan. Perhaps tapes of the shows will surface. One can only hope.
Just think, the FIRST MMJ show of 2012! I'm looking, but have yet to find a setlist...

Rad that they'll have a horn section. Who is it?
I'm no chronologist, but this show should be over now, correct?

Yep. Its one hour past noon, ie 1:00 am on Tuesday, March 27th in Japan as it reaches 12:00 noon on Monday, March 26th here in New Hampshire. I've tweeted Eric Mayers a request for the setlist, but its only been a couple of hours since they left the stage. Patrick just tweeted about his post-show meal- Kamukura soup with noodles ("My god...so good. They live up to the hype.").
i'm loving the tweets from Japan!

Nice setlist.
IB4U, War Begun, Heartbreakin' Man
Good stuff.
That's a great setlist.
If I'd a left testicle, I'd sell it to see that encore...someone say they've got it...where are our Japanese correspondents on this?
am i missing something here? didn't everyone bitch endlessly during the last tour over repetitiveness? doesn't this setlist follow the exact same pattern, but with less? I mean yeah, War Begun is fantastic, but the set list doesn't really fall out of the "one or two rarity" pattern.
that said, december to may is the longest ive gone without a jacket show in over 2 years, so at this point i dont care what they play at Jazz or Forecastle

I hear you, my brother!
Touring Japan, Australia, even returning to Europe in June, will really be part 2 of the Circuital tour, I think. I'd like to believe they'll make a shift in July. Forecastle will demand a special set, and Newport is going to be a game changer- for the band and the Folk Fest. MMJ will tear the roof off of Fort Adams. The next big thing after Dylan going electric.
Close johnny, but the world will be changed forever after the completion of their unannounced 4 hr set at Boogie over Easter! ;)

I'll be more than happy to be wrong. You guys haven't had any live Circuital tracks, though, and some of 'em are mighty awesome. Its all good!

I'm really looking forward to hearing the circuital tracks live along with a healthy splattering of old gems and rarities!
But truthfully, I'll be happy with anything at this stage considering Yim is sick and it's only 6 days to the Sydney show...

Awesome, I called this one when Circuital first came out.
Somewhat off topic, and 3 years later, but check out this setlist from Tokyo in Feb. '09, courtesy of tattsun.

jeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz that is a show
usually take off the record and gideon for granted. weird not seeing them in the set.
Well, when you make an amazing album and are touring in support of it, your setlists are going to be pretty good.
After a quick examination of the archives, it seems that they played about 80 to 95% of the Evil Urges tracks in each set in 2008 and 2009. Then, in 2010, they cut that down a bit and added in more stuff from previous albums. So, do we have another year of Circuital-powered setlists?
I like Circuital. Anything they make, to me, is indispensable. Victory Dance is a hell of a way to open a show and I know I will long for it once the run is over. In all, i really love about half of the album and the other half I'm pretty indifferent about. For me, it would be great if when they came back to the US we got something more resembling their 2010 setlists with some Circuital sprinkled in. However, I haven't been a fan nearly as long as many of you. You've been getting those older tracks for years and the band has been playing them for years. I'm sure it's a wonderful thing, for them and for y'all, to have new material. So i suppose it makes sense that Japan has started off the way it has, and that we will probably get more of the same with a few alterations come summer.
Here's live audio of the show for anyone who wants to hear:

Dude...they came back with a vengeance. The sound, the new progressions, the jams...Does anyone else get amazed by how often they manage to blow your mind?

Holdin' On to Black Metal and One Big Holiday.
That's quite an exit.
Has anyone listened to how fucking insane this show is?! It's like they just keep getting exponentially better, when you thought it wasn't even possible...undoubtedly one of the best Ive ever heard...

Just listening for the first time now.
I'm sorry, but who let Crazy Horse into that PWW?? The jams this band throws around now are just amazing. The ONE complaint I've ever had about these guys, is that they just don't JAM enough. Many parts seemed too scripted to me. But through the grace of whatever divine supreme otherworldly intervention it is that's out there...they heard me and righted that track. And the jamminess seems to grow with each new tour. Me likey!
Dondante intro? Hello!
