I'd most certainly go see that lineup if I lived nearby.

If only Slash and Duff were with Axl, I'd be there.

Very interesting lineup

So excited for the Flaming Lips and to see what they pull out in an acoustic setting. And of course Crazy Horse will be awesome! GnR's will be at the least very interesting!

It's definitely an interesting lineup.  GnR just seems odd - but they could pull it off.  Looking forward to Jack White, Flaming Lips, Gary Clark Jr.  Steve Martin's band should be interesting.   There's only one act I flat out cannot stand and that Sarah McBlaaachlan.  I'll be in the bar for her set - just like the last time she played Bridge.

Neil - as always, will kick ass

I'm putting GnR's in the same category as Billy Idol when he played a couple of years ago. It was a lot of fun and Rebel Yell was great to sing along to. So I'm thinking Sweet Child is gonna be pretty cool. And if it's shit at least the sets are short!

Billy Idol ruled!!  Fax Axl will be weird.  I saw G'nR in 1989...this version is just not going to cut it for me.  BUT...acoustic JW and Flaming Lips are enough to get me to the show.  And Gary Clark Jr will be great too.  Super psyched about this year's show.  I had been going every year, but for the last five or so years I haven't gone.  It's going to be awesome...can't wait!

Hmmm...I don't think there's enough to get me down there this year.

I'm like you zanjam - I used to go every year, but haven't been for the last 4 or 5. The year My Morning Jacket played was one of the best lineups:

Bridge XXI October 27 & October 28, 2007 Performers included: Neil Young, Metallica, Tom Waits with Kronos Quartet, My Morning Jacket, Tegan and Sara, Jerry Lee Lewis, John Mayer, and Regina Spektor.

2007 was pre-MMJ for me.  I had heard of them and knew I needed to see them, but still hadn't fallen madly in love as of then.  One of the bigger bummers for me of missed MMJ opportunities (along with 3 night Fillmore run in 2006).  Also missed the Monsters of Folk Bridge show.  Lame.

Some of my Bridge highlights have been The Who, Phish, Pete Townshend, PJ, RHCP.  For me, Jack White and Flaming Lips are definitely enough to get me down there.  Very psyched.  Such a special event.

I remember when Ministry played and they did a very cool and surprising acoustic version of themselves.  They covered the theme from Midnight Cowboy, if I remember correctly.  Neil usually brings in at least one band that seems to not fit the bill or like they wouldn't even know how to play acoustic, and it often turns out pretty cool.

Trent Reznor comes to mind.  He looked extremely uncomfortable up there.  I really enjoyed his set and the arrangements he came up with.

The big question is... Will Axl show up on time for the benefit?  Or will he be an ass and show up late messing up the entire program benefiting kids?   :undecided:

There are plenty of acts on the bill to cover for the possibility of GnR not making it.

I really liked their set.  Friend of the Devil was a nice surprise.

My favorite "oddball" act at Bridge was Tom Waits.  Mind officially blown when he performed with the Kronos Quartet.

That was a perfect pairing for the time of year.  Late October spooky vibe going on there.

I really enjoyed when Adam Sandler played Bridge.  The first words out of his mouth:  "I don't know what I'm doing here, either!"

Tom Waits with Kronos Quartet was one of the best things I've ever seen at the BSB, they were outstanding. Another of my favorite collaborations was Paul McCartney and Tony Bennett doing The Very Thought of You.

One of the weirdest collaborations was Marilyn Manson coming out with the Smashing Pumpkins.

Either he's sitting in or just attending, or maybe just listening to some Neil Young?  What thinks you?!?

Anyone gonna pony up and pay for the webcast tomorrow? I'm quite tempted. Goes to a great cause and I just KNOW Jack and Neil are gonna play together. That would be worth the price alone.

I think it's only $5!  It's going to be a really special day of music.  Jack White acoustic.  LOVE IT!

Well, Fully, are you watching GnR right now?  It's making me feel very confused about this thing called music that I thought I found to be enjoyable.

I actually didn't get to watch any of it. I would have loved to have seen it too, but other things ended up taking precedence over this. Perhaps it will turn up somewhere again...

GnR was horrid, I thought, but I'm not a fan anyway.  It was fun for the trainwreck factor at least.

Everything else I saw was great, though (started watching at Ray LaMontagne), particularly Jack White, Neil, and Eddie Vedder, who did a couple songs before GnR.

Jim Harrington is right on most of the time.  Not so with this review!  People were into it.  Or maybe I was drunk?  Eddie coming out was absolutely the highlight of the night.  We had been lamenting how Bridge didn't seem like Bridge without Eddie...then POOF!  He appears.   Flaming Lips doing A Day in the Life was awesome.  Jack White was amazing.  And GnR was cool.  I Used to Love Her But I Had to Kill Her!  Made me feel like I was in college all over again!

I wasn't into the lineup so decided against tuning in.  Sorry I missed Eddie..... though I shouldn't be surprised he showed.

Steve Martin's band should be interesting.

I know the Steep Canyon Rangers personally, as they are from the Brevard/Asheville area.  They are an extremely tight band on their own.  No question that their national exposure has benefited from their relationship with Steve Martin, but they are in no way Steve Martin's band.  I guess I'm a bit sensitive to that, but if you have any doubt, check them out live.  They absolutely knock it out, if that is your thing, and if not, you'll still appreciate their ability.  Or, just listen to some of THEIR records, not Rare Bird Alert, per say.  Maybe "Call the Captain" or "The Mountain's Gonna Sing."  On a Steve Martin related video, check out Nicky Sanders' solo on Orange Blossom Special from the July 4th concert from last year.  It is smoking.

I have to echo the love for the Steep Canyon Rangers. One of their a capella numbers, "I Can't Sit Down" sent my jaw to the floor when I heard it. Pitch perfect voices sent from the heavens. Was so glad to see they joined in on the "Rockin' In The Free World" finale on Saturday!

Did anyone see the GNR+Neil collaboration from Sunday? Actually sounds pretty damn good!

I thought the shows were solid with the exception of Sarah McLaughlin.  Guns n Roses ranged from ok to downright horrid.  I literally cringed when they did Welcome to the Jungle because Axl's range is shot.

This is the one year that I wish my seats were not as good as they were (8th row center first night, 4th row center second night) - Nobody needs to see Axl up that close.

I now have a crush on Gary Clark Jr. and Wayne Coyne.

I cringed several times watching Axl.  And this is coming from a big GnR fan.  He just has lost his voice.  And did you also notice he fucked the lyrics up on Jungle? it was just bad.

I read that Axl had strep throat but didn't want to cancel and my friend who went said GNR was much better the 2nd night.
In Las Vegas they sounded awesome and did a 3 hour show!
