Hello people!
I'm brand new to the forum here. I will be attending the Thursday and Friday night shows in Port Chester (so stoked). I will be staying in town Thursday night and potentially Friday night as well. I'm traveling solo to the shows from Canada and I'm basically looking to find some people to party with during my time in Port Chester. I'm very easy going, I like to have a good time, and I love meeting new people. Give me a shout if you're down.
Thanks.
Another Canadian fan. Excellent!

It's ok. I'll call you so you can hear us.
Here's an article about restaurants near the Capitol Theater:
http://food.lohudblogs.com/2012/08/31/restaurants-near-the-capitol-theatre-in-port-chester/ (http://food.lohudblogs.com/2012/08/31/restaurants-near-the-capitol-theatre-in-port-chester/)
A whole lot of music fans are about to hit Port Chester, and chances are they'll be hungry.
It's no secret that the village has a remarkable variety of restaurants. Port Chester calls itself the restaurant capital of Westchester, and has every right to.
While you've no doubt heard about Mario Batali'sTarry Lodge and Godfrey Polistina's Arrosto, I'm planning on exploring the lesser known restaurants in the village, particularly the ethnic ones. This will take a while, with seven places specializing in Peruvian food alone. Big names have helped put the village on the culinary map, but lots of smaller establishments have no publicists and perhaps no website.
I cover Port Chester for The Journal News, and I've offered to help with the "research." Like Port Chester, I have an affinity for Latin American cuisines. As a traveler I've had the chance to try lulo juice in Cartagena, tamales in Costa Rica, coffee in Havana and, I'll mention my one and only regret, tacos from a little boat in Xochimilco, Mexico.
In Port Chester you can stay in travel mode, trying things out. The restaurants and markets cater to immigrant families with very specific tastes. Just one block up from The Cap, (http://www.thecapitoltheatre.com/) there's a row of three restaurants that always struck me as emblematic: a Salvadoran place, a very authentic Mexican taqueria and a restaurant with a Peruvian-Uruguayan-Argentinian thing going on. How many neighborhoods outside of Queens have a range like that?
Here's a quick intro, in time for the Dylan show. But I'm planning on regular updates, so write me at lrae@lohud.com to let me know what places you like, places you've heard about, or the kinds of places you're looking for.
Tortilleria Los Gemelos, 167 Westchester Ave., 914-934-0372
This place has serious, authentic, get-right-to-the-point tacos. As in Mexico, they come with doubled-up, soft tortillas and a grilled onion on top of richly marinated meat. They're about $3 apiece, and two can make a meal. Fresh green and red salsas come on the side. The corn tortillas are made right on the premises – just across the bright yellow dining room, in fact – and you might hear the squeaking conveyors running while you dine. Otherwise expect a very loud jukebox playing Mexican pop tunes. If you choose one of the wooden booths, be warned that they are not for large people.
This place is favored by Mexicans and others in search of authentic food; the menu steers clear of the more common, cheese-heavy Tex-Mex trend. You can pick up a bag of fresh or toasted tortillas (tostadas) on your way out, and look for them at Latin American markets in Port Chester.
Inca y Gaucho, 173 Westchester Ave., 914-939-2100
The extensive menu takes you all the way from Peru – with classics like lomo saltado and ceviche – to the steak-loving Uruguay and Argentina, with a homemade chimichurri sauce.
Lomo saltado, showing the Asian influence in Peruvian food, is sirloin tip steak sauteed with soy sauce, wine, onions, peppers and tomatoes. Other favorites are the rice with seafood, described on the menu as a paella but also reminiscent of fried rice. It comes with mussels, clam, crab, tender calamari and vegetables. A lomo saltado entree is $11.75; arroz con mariscos, $16. There's a bar and a wine list highlighting Chile, Argentina and Uruguay.
This dimly lit restaurant greets you with surprises, starting with the life-size Inca figure at the please-wait-to-be-seated sign. You can dine at the wooden bar, beneath a set of colorful hanging lamps, or sit at a table and look up at tapestries from the Andes.
The soundtrack also has personality, ranging on a recent day from Gypsy Kings to Andean flutes to Latin pop. If you go on Thursday, be advised, it's karaoke night.
Pupusa Loca, 165 Westchester Ave., 914-935-0767
This is a large, casual eatery named after the Salvadoran staple, a thick, soft, corn tortilla with a pocket of cheese and other fillings. You can try a pupusa with queso and the edible flower loroco, to start off. The menu gives a full range of chicken, pork, seafood and steak options. One tasty one is a thinly cut steak with shrimp, $15.95, which arrives on a skillet. The food is hearty and non-spicy, starting with the marinara-like salsa and the cabbage that accompanies the pupusas. Furnishings here are also uncomplicated.
Mirrors, tinted glass and television screens overlook the glass-topped tables, which feature maps of various Central American countries. The menu, however, sticks closely to the boundaries of Salvadoran cuisine. And the menu doesn't go out of its way to explain itself, so Spanish may come in handy.

You can be sure my room will be open to hosting a party pre show! We can rock that Marriott, then just train it in on night one, and scope out the scene for nights 2 and 3. If there's no real bars, it'll be party time in my room at the Marriott all week.

Anyway, I'll be heading out for the Port Chester shows, and wanted to find some fellow fans (true fans only) who want to PARTY. If anyone's bringing large quantities of drugs (illegal), I'd love to meet up, possibly purchase. Especially looking for meth (aka, ICE) and cociane. Large quantities, because I PARTY HARD. Would also love to hook up some bath saltz. PM me if interested. It'll be ONE BIG HOLIDAY!!! Man, I LOVE that song!!!

Hilarious

Hello people!
I'm brand new to the forum here. I will be attending the Thursday and Friday night shows in Port Chester (so stoked). I will be staying in town Thursday night and potentially Friday night as well. I'm traveling solo to the shows from Canada and I'm basically looking to find some people to party with during my time in Port Chester. I'm very easy going, I like to have a good time, and I love meeting new people. Give me a shout if you're down.
Thanks.
if someone approached me looking to "party" while in a lot tailgating, i would be suspicious. but I guess on a forum it's ok? but that's just me. ;)
Yeah, but he's from Canada and used the word 'stoked'. Although he also correctly used 'you're' prior to the requisite slang 'down', so that might give one pause. Do you suspect a devious trickster has infiltrated the forum? Magic Eightball says - Who Knows...
He also has exactly one post to his name as of right now. Also, his post is seeing quite a bit of action lately, but he hasn't come back to chat with us.
I think you freaks scared him off. Wish I was going to be partying in Port Chester! I'd certainly be down!!
Jenny, I suppose we'll be at our own pity party. Maybe I'll call you so we can sing a few bars of a Jacket song together.

So as usual as I get some down time at work I tend to check out the latest postings in the forum... First... Thanks for the laughs in this thread.... Second.... The Beer Thread gave me an idea for the PC shows... How about all those that are traveling via car bring some of their favorite local craft beers and we have a tasting party one day prior/after a show? I can bring the Troegs....

Also, the Beta Club is trying to kill me today. They've filled the teacher's lounge with sinsuous (I meant to spell it that way) sweet bars of caramel cookie with smores on top and some with drizzled caramel atop chocolate chips and other sweet crunchy things. There are also some key lime bars. And then there's the food nobody really wants to eat. I'm high on sugar!!! Talk about PARTYING!

Once I ate a mushroom like that, size, shape, handled by a similar looking man. Needless to say I ate it and then saw Michael McDonald fight Michael Martin Murphy. Somewhere in the distance, I heard the pounding of native drums. Was it in my mind? I don't know. But me thinks I heard the god Zeus chuckling from on high

I thought we had this worked out, Fully! No need to fear the bleach. The bleach is your friend
It just makes me think of the end result of eating REALLY spicy food. I may not be up to y'all's level of partying. Although Whippy's plan b might be an option. Give me time. I'm sure I'll come through at bleach time.

Oh well, I'm positive all you fine folks will represent this board well & show Port Chester the true meaning of PARTY!
The butt chugging with some bleach thrown in there is a bit much for me...I'm not sure if I even understand this bazar party...can someone draw me a diagram? ...lol

I will butt chug up to half a box of Franzia (only white zinf) at Port Chester if you pay a month's mortgage.
So who was the first person to come up with the idea of butt chugging? We're they like..."lets pour some liquor in my ass and see if I get drunk?"
Once you have butt chugged, do you have to stay in a certain position so your anal cocktail stays in you? Is a butt chugging party a bunch of people laying on their stomachs? So much to learn...;)
All good questions Bigsky-san. I think there is a former fraternity at University of Tennessee that could probably answer them.
I would think butt chugging positions would be limitless. There are some very creative people on this forum. I'm envisioning some crazy yoga positions. Downward Facing Dog perhaps?

Yes...of course. I'm sure there are also some forum members who can walk on there hands.
There might even be some custom MMJ butt-plugs we could order...
On the subject of favorable yoga poses for the night's festivities, it would probably also behoove all of us PARTIERS to get fluent in Happy Baby Pose.

On the subject of MMJ butt-plugs, I think AMightyCaporal should design them. He did so well with the JJ T-shirt. It's only natural that he expands into the butt-plug market. Logical progression if you ask me.

In our quest for the optimum butt chugging position, it dawned on me that one thing we must consider is the best position for butt chugging while not missing any of the show.
To that end, may I suggest that we add Chair Pose into the mix.

A-it's not like you are going to taste it do what does it matter which kind?
B- I'm looking forward to the news cycle of mymorningjacket jacket fans embrace butt chugging in Port Chester that will be sure to arise after Whippy and you get taken to the emergency room. Then there will be the denials of homosexuality on the media, followed by the shuttering of this forum, culminating in a press conference where we all look serious and deny that we've ever heard of butt chugging in hopes that the forum will regain it's charter. All while Patrick, Carl, Bo, and Jim shake their heads in disapproval although Tom will be doubled over with laughter in the background screaming "butt chuggers!" as he points at you.
Ok, on second thought, count me in. I prefer Pinot Grigiot if Franzia comes in that flavor. Also, it might be a good idea to wear some depends.or other adult diaper brand. I know you are wondering which would be best on this situation so I texted one of the UT butt chuggers and he replied, "It Depends."
Also, would any of you be interested in wearing a Port Chester Butt Chugger Competition tshirt while in Port Chester?
Never forget!

Have you thought about a slogan for the MMJ butt (chug) plug? I guess the obvious choice would be "There'll be a knock at your back door," but there could be other good ones too. Maybe "Just don't make it last any longer than it has to" could be a contender.

So, is it, like, prophetic or something how the example from the urban dictionary using butt chugging in a sentence uses my name, Jonathan?
"Butt Chugging
The act of ingesting alcohol through ones rectum. The idea is to increase the alcohol's effect and the speed with which one becomes intoxicated.
Hello Jonathan! Would you care to attend my party? We will be Butt Chugging!"

The Butt Chugging Commision (BCC) is reviewing this thread...to make sure we aren't thinking about vodka tampons...

Can guys even use those? I have my doubts.

Wow, vodka snorting and vodka eyeballing! I am humbled by this display of human ingenuity.
Well, this discussion has moved beyond my expertise in PARTYING however based upon my last 24 hrs preparing for a certain procedure today that us more seasoned folks need to have from time to time, I do have a nasty cocktail that will clear out some room so you don't have the "consumption problem" encountered by that dude in the Jackass video.
I can't wait until I can eat and drink again later today.
I've had that same procedure, GO4IT. You're finished with the worst part. Also, it looks like someone has already had a competition:

WOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!! We gonna be blasting some In Through the Out Door at the Marriott!
And GO4IT. I'm sure you listened to Before the Flood yesterday Camera Eye today.
Looks like Eddie Murphy was before his time. Over/under MMJ does a cover of this?

Count me in for some much needed partying.

After going to The Wiltern shows, I thought I probably didn't need to go to all the effort to get to Port Chester, but after reading this thread for weeks now, I'm starting to question that decision...
What keeps popping into my mind is, 'Shit, if this is gonna be that kinda party, I'm gonna stick my dick in the mashed potatoes.'

Ha! I only know that quote from the Beastie Boys using it. Do you know what it is originally from?
Also, to ramp this up another notch or two, that Huffington Post article talks about some of the popularity of butt chugging among the youngsters is that it hides the smell of alcohol from your breath. Obviously this is less of a concern for those of us of legal age, but I could see the benefit of hiding the smell of other things. Kind of gives new meaning to the term "blowing smoke up your a--". Maybe we be pioneers of a brand new way to PARTY - butt huffing.
OK, I survived the "procedure" and everything turned out OK. I actually had to sign a release ahead of time for them to take photos of the place where the sun don't shine. Then when it was done, I asked the doc where the pictures were. He just laughed but I wasn't joking. I told him last time he did this to me, at least I got to see some pix.
Anyway, I'm back in action..... or maybe on this thread I'm actually out of the action

I hope you asked him how to properly butt chugg. Also, glad your colon is all pretty now.
need for subject change....i'm from westchester and here are some good recs
1. Bartaco - 5 minute walk from venue. Cool vibe and good bar. It's middle of the road as far as price is concerned. Drinks are on the pricey side, but the food is inexpensive and very good. They sell by the taco or 3 for 8 dollars.
2. Tarry Lodge - a very good Mario Batali restaurant in walking distance. Not as expensive as you would think and pretty casual. They specialize in brick oven pizzas and you can sit and eat at the bar or in the more casual bar room.
3. T&J Villaggio Trattoria - pretty good old school italian place. a block or two away from the venue. you walk into the pizza store, but there is a restaurant room connected to the space. average prices for slightly above average food.
4. Q - excellent bbq for nyc. 5 minute walk. Order at the counter and they bring it to the table. i'm not sure if they have a liquor license.
5. Buffalo Wild Wings - for the sporty folk. it's a few minute walk as well.
6. Stella's - my favorite dive bar in the area. they have a shuffle board table that is most excellent. decent beer on tap and a cd jukebox that's hooked up to a good sound system. its a a block away from the Tarry Lodge. don't tell anyone that i told you about this place ;)
7. Los Gemelos - very inexpensive and good mexican a block or two from the venue. I like Bar Taco's vibe better, but if you want really cheap eats this is the best spot.

Damn, I was still in a stupor from the general anesthesia when the doc came by so completely forgot to ask about the fine points of butt chugging. My doc's first name is Kester, no joke, one letter removed from Keister.

I think we are WAY past the point of no return here. If you are still hanging with us by now, bring your own tubing and Franzia because we've got you on the bracket to compete! But seriously, thanks for all of the info about the local restaurants. Many of us are coming from far and wide. This will be my first trip to the Port Chester area. Since we'll have some down time during the day, are there any other points of interest in the area?

Yes...Thanks Adam. We have a Bartaco near my town and it's a great place to hang, drink and eat a couple of tacos.
I think once we get over our silly remarks...we'll need to pick a place to meet up pre & post show.

Manhattan - easily accessible via Metro North
See the big tree, Rockefeller Center, Macy's windows decorated for x-mas, museums, and so much more.

Exactly! We can take the train into Grand Central and see the Xmas tree at Rockefeller Center one day if you're up for it. Short trip and once you're into Grand Central, you can walk anywhere. That area (Macy's up to Rockefeller Ctr) is kind of crazy this time of year but it's fun.
edited: oops Fully-just read the thread above---NOT MUCH in Port Chester...Using hotel time to catch up on sleep (and butt chugg apparently??)...probably go into NYC one day...maybe there's a movie theater there? My old boss just told me there's a good BBQ place called 'Q' near the venue.
you guys could also check out fairfield county. Stamford, South Norwalk, Greenwich, New Canaan, Darien.

Sorry GO4IT. Apparently I was in a crankyass mood. My apologies for being awful. I do want to go into NYC at least one day, Penny. I was looking at the area where we are going on googlestreetviee. methinks there aren't a lot of pre-game places (according Headhunter and others) so there will be lots of fun and drinks on the sly while standing in the cold in line in front of the venue? FLASKS everyone...and rice crispy treats...

Apology accepted, Fully. I will admit I was a bit taken aback as I was just trying to suggest something that folks coming in from around the country might not know about and should definitely take advantage of at that time of year if they haven't yet experienced it. Or, in my case, if you've only experienced it dozens of times.
When I was a wee lad, my grandmother used to take me in to Manhattan (I grew up in Queens; went to HS in Manhattan) every year around the holidays to see the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall and take in the sights at Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Macy's, etc. I never get tired of that scene. Little did I know that a few (OK, many) years later I would see MMJ for the first time in that storied venue that I had been in so many times in my youth (although my grandmother never got me 1st row tickets like I had for MMJ!!!).
OK, sorry for that diversion. Now back to our regularly scheduled butt-chugging channel....
count me in on the nyc trip....well i guess count me in all of fully's adventures considering we are sharing a room...she has to go to someone elses room to buttchug though...that shit won't fly in my room...no pun intended
The Capitol Theatre is such a legendary place I would love to go see MMJ there. I understand that the venue has been re-opened by the owner of Relix Magazine, which kinda makes sense to me. It also sort of makes me not want to go there, as he closed a magazine I wrote for that he owned (Metal Maniacs) and when he did so only paid us writers half of the money he owed us.
Maybe I should ask for MMJ tickets to make up the money he never paid me that he owed.
Hahaha

I wouldn't want to distract any more from the plans for butt-chugging, bleaching, and who knows what else will be happening in your room with Scosby.

so bleach, duct tape, rubber hoses, cheetos, video camera, shoe goo, paper towels, handcuffs, branding iron, and iphone speakers ordered from room service..
and GO4IT---you need to bring pickles
am i missing anything?
Pickles?!! This keeps getting weirder. I hope these are homemade pickles.
Also, it is Fully, Seth and Seth's room so in order to enter your first name must end in 'eth. The second Seth (who I know because crazylove met him in Louisville this summer) will have taken a 40 hr. Megabus ride that began on Xmas just to get to PC. Bless his heart. I hope they have showers on Megabuses!

Well......Penny's fantasy football team name was Yim's Pickle. I can only guess where this will lead
Pickles!!! Shit just got real!
I may be guilty of mentioning assholes early on in this thread, which led to bleaching, which led to chugging, and, well, now we have pickles. We'll always have the pickles.
Hold on...has someone reviewed the town zoning code to see what the local regs on butt chugging are? Because pickles might cause issues.

Geez, I can't turn back for a minute on you miscreants!
Who told you about my pickle, I mean pickles?
Perhaps NN and Mrs. NN who managed to smuggle a jar of my home-mades (from cukes grown in my backyard) over the border? I actually gave the secret recipe to Mrs jYac but haven't heard how they turned out.
I'll be sure to bring a jar or two to Port Chester (can they be used in the vinyl exchange?). They are extra spicy, so be careful where you insert.

Does Richard Simmons mean that we are going to eventually end up crying while wearing short shorts? I don't think I can PARTY that hard.
Oh Fully, I knew in the end you wouldn't be able to keep up.
Today might be a good day to start a little light butt chugging to get those tushies ready for the week ahead. Baby steps, people.
May all of your Christmas dreams come true, MMJ peeps!
This thread deserves a sprint to the end!!!
Hoping all of you PC party people are in mid-season form.
It's gonna be a marathon, not a sprint.
:cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:
an astute reminder, headhunter!
side bar: i'm getting into PC late on the night of the 26th. any one else? may do some recon in town ( )
Some of us have been in training to PARTY since the unfortunate butt chugging incident that happened this fall. But I know what you are saying. I'm only planning on chugging wine juice boxes until the 30th. That night, I'm going full Franzia, baby! I hope they sell Franzia by the box where I'm going.
Seriously! Is no one still looking to PARTY?
Yeah, KingofKong, you still with us?

I've been using these shows as a type of goal to reach to finally be able to put the tail end of 2012 in the rear view. I've been telling myself everyday to just get to PC, and then Boston. Each day gets me closer to PC, and closer to being back in my home. I have definitely been so looking forward to a MMJ friends and shows fix! I have no doubt these shows, and all of you great peeps will be just what the Dr. ordered to recharge the batteries, carry me right through to Spring, and back home again. Gonna ride this wave right back to the beautiful sandy beaches of LBI.
Lets Party!!

We're heading out early tomorrow am. I think winter storm Euclid should be gone and I'm thinking the interstates should be clear for us to make the drive.
Btw, when did the weather channel start naming every effing storm??? Kind of annoying if you ask me. This was a big one, but nothing special that it needed to be named like a freaking hurricane or tropical storm?!
Can't wait to meet up with all the forum peeps the next few days. And Penny, you took the words right out of my mouth!!! Can't believe these shows are finally here!!! :cheesy:
