SARA! the last thread disappeared!
This puppy had to be restarted because they are such a prodigious music making country. 5 of my top albums of the year are:
Graveyard - Lights Out
The Amazing - Gentle Stream
First Aid Kit- The Lion's Roar (my favorite)
Meshuggah - Koloss
Tallest Man on Earth - There's No Leaving Now
Just amazing stuff! My apologies if the thread still exists though I fear it was vaporized in the switch from the old old forum to the old forum that is again the current forum.
Graveyard - Lights Out
Non-stop for me right now!
Opeth! (Mikael Akerfeldt is the yum!)
Spiders
Woop! Thanks for bringing it back! I don't know how it is that everyone knows more about Swedish music than I do, I'll probably be exiled shortly...
So in case any Swedish authority is reading this (likely), I'd like to say that I love Robyn, especially this song:
Robyn - Konichiwa Bitches (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3Co9GxHJg0#)
And this Hello Saferide song:
Hello Saferide - The Quiz (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3r5lnQYwdbE#)
And this Tiger Lou song:
Tiger Lou - You Can't Say No To Me (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilI9g1AOOAE#)
And this Oh Laura song:
"Release Me" by Swedish band "Oh Laura" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjQXMZe2ouk#)
And I'll be checking out all the other mentions shortly... Can't have you out-Swedish me!
Albums by The Refused, early The International Noise Conspiracy and The Soundtrack Of Our Lives belong in anyone with taste's record collection.
You guys forgot the best one!
Lykke Li - Get Some (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TTPGAy5H_E#ws)
Ah yes, Lykke, of course!

That Graveyard is awesome! Apparently we got a bunch of copies today. I really have to get my husband on the forum - apparently he's Graveyard's Canadian publicist (and has worked for other bands listed so far.)
He reminded me of a couple other Swedish bands:
Peter John and Bjorn
Jens Lekman
Bathory
Bob Hund (Sweden's answer to Pavement)

Cool! Sounds like the hubby does work for some real good bands. Graveyard just rocks and sometimes all I want is some kick ass hard rock n' roll.
Thanks hansandreas for introducing me to them

In fact, it was four new bands in early 2000s that restored my faith in rock: The International Noise Conspiracy, The White Stripes, MMJ and TSOOL. Goddamit but TSOOL are impossible to dislike: an intentional hybrid of Stones + Stooges + Who+ Beatles + Pink Floyd, and they also are one of the best live bands on the planet.

I wasn't that annoyed. I was joking around. But really...check out the video below (art from their debut album, same as my shirt). It clearly says Bathory.
In Nomine Satanas by Bathory (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prQCTBQlN20#)
I also recommend Witchcraft. I saw them at Bowery Ballroom in late 2007. Baroness opened the show.
Witchcraft - No Angel Or Demon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80wBpp41rUA#)
I'm a fan of Trad Gras Och Stenar. I got to see them do a free show here in Connecticut some years back.

thanks for this, i really dig Dungen and thought this was pretty good.
the real find for me here though was Idiot Wind. holy crap. i spent a good hour last night searching the innernets, watching Youtube vids of her and Kristian doing some incredible duets, learned about a soundtrack they both recorded together that might never see the light of day. damn, what a voice. thanks again!

Yes! She's so great. Love their duet videos. I still haven't managed to see her and Kristian together live yet, sigh. Oh well, at least I've seen them both separately, so good, so very good.
