It's a fancy venue, saw Dr. Dog there a few months ago. And the best/worst bar The Tam is just 1 block away.
be warned that the last show I saw that I had will call, they opened the doors at teh same time they started handing out will call tix.
Not a big deal if you don't care about the rail, but was frustrating to see two lines develop- one for entrance and one for will call. I had my wife in the other line but once the entrance line moved it didn't work.

When Kyle and I saw Heartless Bastards w/Futurebirds at Royale, it was an early show, so they can clear the joint for late night dance party club happy time.
I'm game for anything! I might be in town early, as I'm off all that week.
Correction! We have DOORS at 6:30pm.
And, we have an opener...
Cold Specks (http://coldspecks.com/)

Great find Yac!!!!
With only 9 songs on his album, what is he going to play? Is he going to play MMJ songs as well?
So, I'm watching video of Jim et al doing Touch Me 2 at The Basement in Nashville last week. He has to pause as he moves from the Omnichord to singing the second verse, as he had to put the mic in his pocket to play the 'chord, then fish it out of his pocket again.
Jim, when you come to Boston, I'll be happy to take over the Omnichord for you so you can keep your hands free and that microphone ready. Sound good?

I like it, it reminds me of the Daytrotter illustrations.

Well, I am a RCer and will have my laminate. I'm assuming Kyle will, too, in which case you can be my +1, Matt. Box office opens at 5 and we have will call tix. RC early entry is 5:45, so I'd suggest meeting us around 5:15. Show is to start at 6:30, with Jim likely on by 8. Royale likes to get their live music done early so they can switch over to dance party mode. This thing will be over by 10-10:30, I'm guessing. I'm gonna send you a text so you have my cell #, though I'm assuming you do, as I have yours. See you tomorrow!

Of course the venue has no idea about roll call and the early entry. Guy at box office said they don't print tix till 5:30

Great show! I was with the group getting down near the soundboard.
Just got home. Holy Hell! What a night!
The album set was phenomenal and the extended jams melted me face! Waves of bass poured through me.
Losin' Yo Head lived up to its name once again!
Bermuda Highway or Wonderful to open the encore? Howz about BOTH, boom!
A great night with rail pals Kyle (mahg33ta), Matt (Wolof) and his lovely wife, Alexis, and Dylan (Dilsnufus- already postin' vids, my man!).
Also met MMJfanatic (finally!). Saw Jerry (Jpugdawg- we caught Neil Young together last November) and some dude I met at MMJ in Brooklyn last August. And a couple of guys figured out who I was when I mentioned the Omnichord (too funny).
Managed one of Jim's picks and a drumstick (thanks Jimmy the P!), but also snagged one of Jim's black towels after wiping my sweaty dome with it (didn't think they'd want it back).
I brought 2 birthday cards for Jim and Patrick, had the crowd sign 'em, and handed them to Jim after Wonderful. He set them down without much of a gander, but someone later tapped my shoulder and pointed out Jim checking them out. Cool.

Hey zephlin. I posted a picture of Jim's setlist, still taped to the stage. Where it says "ACOUSTIC", it was Bermuda Highway then Wonderful.
Thanks!

Check out Dillsnufus' video of Actress for some prime Wolof fingering at the 0:13 mark.
EDIT: The video titled Actress is actually a video of Of the Mother Again.
Also, I feel like really bad things would happen if Fully viewed from about the 1:15 to 1:30 mark of Dillsnufus' video of Acress (which is right now titled Of the Mother Again). Those two songs are flipped around in terms of the titles of the videos.

Has this been said of these shows?
At times last night I found myself floating away to the sounds of this awesome album being performed live. Then the absolute perfection of the recreation jarred me back to the present, and looking at the band I couldn't tell if they were actually playing. Sometimes they were and sometimes they weren't. It was an odd and distracting sensation.
I should mention that, when Jimmy the P handed me the drumstick, he said "this was the best show of the tour, by far!" I'll take that!

Ha great night... the 2nd time I got fingered I cradled his foot during Actress bc when I opened my eyes I thought he was going to kick me in the grill didn't mean to spook Jim
Also the roadies were super great...took a vid of Alexis and I rocking out to New Life and emailed it to us this morning. I will post when I get a chance

I would, however, like to thank Dilsnufus for his excellent camera work. All of the videos and your photos are excellent, Dilsnufus. Particularly that segment that Whippy pointed out. It reminds me of the view I had in Louisville. Let's hope I get a similar view in Nashville and Atlanta.

I should mention that, when Jimmy the P handed me the drumstick, he said "this was the best show of the tour, by far!" I'll take that!
I'm glad Jim's (and I guess MMJ's) road crew are so cool and so into the whole scene. At the Louisville show, while on the front row, I noticed them in the wings jamming out like the rest of us. Also, one of them (Jimmy the P?) seemed to have a pretty tight relationship with scosby2. They were joking around a lot and he seemed to be really happy to be doing the wonderful job that he has.
yea~ Jimmy!

Somehow, I'm guessing the venue would have nixed the idea (see Dilllsnufus's camera fiasco), but did anyone see any tapers at the Boston gig?
I know people have taped there before.
This show was so far above what I expected it's not even funny, one of the best I've ever been to. Jim's voice sounded great and the crowd energy was perfect. He took an awesome album and just brought it out of this world with that performance. Makes me want to go to the Northampton show too but I doubt this one will be topped, it was a special night. Loved the encore and Jim had some beautiful words for the crowd and our city. Bravo!!!

Yeah it was the fifth time I saw JJ - and I had seen him earlier in the week in Toronto. In Boston, they were like a different band with so much more energy and connection and joy. Truly something to behold. The crowd was so receptive from the start and I think that changed the way the band responded. More embellishments, flourish. It truly was a special night and I think the band would agree with that.
On another note, I'm so glad they have been doing MOF songs for the encore. It felt weird to hear another band play MMJ songs - the MOF songs he has been playing are more "his." Losing Yo' Head might be one of my favorite songs to hear live in concert.
