Just returned home with the 1 of 50 (South Carolina) of the Autographed LP from the Jim James Scavenger Hunt!!! I am beyond high on life right now!!! I found it in the "Used Jewish LP" section.

Well done, Palms. Nice to know at least 2 of these are forum peeps. None in NH, but 2 in Idaho? Not sure which state has fewer people... or more Jim fans. :drum:
I got the one here in Bloomington, Indiana. Hidden in John Jacob Niles record
I found mine hidden behind an AC/DC picture.

Was that supposed to be the answer to the "Behind the Times" clue? Cuz that doesn't make any sense.

"Behind the Times" is the clue for the store by me, I went today and searched for an hour and got nada. Any help on this clue?? The guy at the store said other people had already been in looking around for it for hours an also couldn't find it.
Palms, Angelo and Soulboots, what were your guys clues?
This is awesome! I didn't realize a scavenger hunt was going on until about mid-afternoon. I called a few stores but they were all found by then.
Can someone tell us about the record? I heard rumors there is also black and blue versions of the standard vinyl - wonder which it is, or is it both?
I hate to do this but I have to (I collect every single MMJ related) - if anyone wants to make a trade for their testing pressing, or is in need of cash, I'd love to get this :)
I haven't opened mine up yet. Normally I open all my vinyl and play it, but I'm a little hesitant on this one
Here was my clue. I was at work when I saw it online so I decided to take a chance and drive over and sure enough it was where I thought it was.
Do you love My Morning Jacket? We have an autographed copy of the new Jim James solo LP, Regions of Light Sound of God (out TODAY on CD and LP), to give away for FREE. What's the catch? You have to find it. We have hidden it somewhere in Landlocked. If you are smart enough to figure out our clue, it is yours - for free! Let the hunting begin: This louisville born singer, song collector, and instrument builder served in the military, performed at the White House, has been quoted by Bob Dylan in song, and has his own center named after him at a major university. If you can find this album, you will find the treasure you seek!
I'm going to call my local shop after work to see if anyone has found it. Hopefully not but I won't be too bummed if someone does. Definitely a cool thing they've done.

My clue was pretty stupid to be honest. It wasn't music related. Something about "look towards the region of lights". The way my store did it was they had a whole sheet of clues that someone wrote and then the clerk gave each person a different clue. My fiancee came so we go 2 clues
I'm going to call my "local" record store (in OKC) here in a little bit to see if they participated, but I'm pretty sure they won't know what I'm talking about, and they'd be too cool to do it if they did.

I was the one there for hours! Dylyn also popped in for a bit! I may head back later!
It is NOT behind their framed article from the New York Times, or their selection of Bob Marley clocks...

Didn't even know about the clues!...I just started searching as soon as I crossed the doors.
So which store was it in in SC? Where did you find clues?
I don't know if I can wait much longer. 3 hours until I can leave work.
Murph got the one in LI, I believe! Congrats!
Damn. I was literally two hours away from going to that store. I knew I Should have gone on a lunch break a little while ago. So jealous

Haha, same, spent most of my day there yesterday!
Got home late yesterday and didn't think I had a chance. When I saw it unclaimed this morning I got excited. I built it up throughout the day and just had all my hopes dashed when I checked the facebook page for LooneyTunes lol.
Congrats on grabbing it. Only wish I didn't have work and could have searched that place top to bottom.
I just drove halfway across the state to find out that it had been nabbed while I was driving there
There is a couple stores close to me, wonder if they still have a copy... Too bad I am in class and thus I can't check.

Monster Music. Never knew about the clues which surprised the manager. He said there was one on the CD of ROLASOG.

OK. How did you know it was at Monster Music? Was this a Facebook thing? I have a local shop that I purchased the vinyl from, but they did not get any lithos. I feel very old. Had no idea about this thing. Congrats, though!!
I got the one at Grimey's in Nashville. Co-worker of mine is friends with them on facebook and she let me know as soon as they posted it. I think I found it 24 minutes after they post the contest. Very easy to find, it was in the Gospel section.
Also, yes it is blue.
Danz got one, which makes him the only person with a complete MMJ set still
Danz is a legend in completion.

It is stipulated that the record can not be sold by any of the stores holding the scavenger hunt
Is there anything extra that comes with these records that we don't have with the regular release? Like exclusive downloads or anything? Hint, hint
I've been told there are, but havent seen any real proof... prove me wrong.

It 'twas!...they even offered free pizza and beer, which in ANY other circumstance I would have consumed the hell out of JUST that promotion (in sadness if I had not found it). No type of beer, pizza, or drug could have conquered that "Willy Wonka" high I was ridin'.

There is a code inside which provides downloads of 2 alternate versions of 'A New Life'

Yessirrr, I found the autographed LP at Looney Tunes Music on Long Island. After about an hour of searching and not finding anything I gave up. Yowza! Did there happen to be a newspaper machine nearby? "Behind the Times"! This has been nagging at me.
Pretty sure there is no code inside of the sleeve. The code with the 2 alternate versions is on the back of the lithograph.
I have a lithograph that came with the supreme package, I noticed not code
Well, who has the codes? Somebody does. They emailed or something about it.
I got a bonus-track lithograph by virtue of buying my vinyl in an indie record store. There is a stamp on the back with a web address for the bonus downloads. The print number is the code.

I still dont understand "behind the times". The second clue was "SPIN" and the table of hoodies also had something called Spin Cleaner displayed on it....
I got the signed copy from Other Music in NYC.
After reading the interview where Jim says "Slow, Slow Tune" is written for a kid in the future flipping through vinyl at a Salvation Army and stumbling upon an MMJ album and not sure what it is, I have to think he was the brainchild behind this scavenger hunt. I had so much fun doing it!

Hey Waddy! Did you download it and if so, what did you think?
The stamp is a Record Store Day stamp so I would imagine you could only get it by buying it from a participating record store. Kinda sucks considering how much that deluxe package was. If you want them, let me know.

Hey Waddy! Did you download it and if so, what did you think?
It's two versions of "A New Life." The demo is a stripped-down acoustic rendition. I could actually imagine seeing Jim perform it this way at some point, a la "Bermuda Highway" or "Hopefully." The other is a "Chris Funk remix." Very deconstructed. I'm interested in processes, including the songwriting process, so both are intriguing to me. My personal tastes lean toward the demo, but I'm glad to have both.
Thanks, Waddy. They sound interesting.
If you got the litho in the deluxe vinyl order from ground(ctrl), go to this site:
www.recordstoreday.com/jimjames (http://www.recordstoreday.com/jimjames)
Enter the edition number for the two tracks. For example, my copy was 186/500, so I entered 186.

I've been meaning to come on here and profess my sheer joy at getting one of these. Totally not trying to rub it in the face of those that didn't, but I was so stunned that it was still available at the end of the day when I went to go nab it. I got the one that was in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. I teach in the area and it happened to be a day that I was in class so I couldn't break away to go get it. I kept checking Facebook all day long to see the clues and to check if it had already been claimed. I even let class out a little early (hey, I was just being nice to the students...no ulterior motive ) and made my way over to The Long Ear record store. I had to bring a few items per the rules set by the store and then I had to look around for a few before I spotted it up on top of a door frame. I was blown away when I asked what the cost was and they told me it was free. So I bought a Dead Weather LP while I was there (to show my gratitude to the shop), got my picture taken with the album (which was all they were asked to do other than not sell it), and headed home. I had already ordered the vinyl, and had received it a few days earlier, so I debated whether to open this one. I gave in and it was worth it to see this unmarked, blue vinyl album come out of the sleeve. So cool! That was the one and only time I've played it. Thanks to Jim, the Long Ear, and everyone involved!

First off, congrats Dumbgun and all you lucky folks who scored one of these. Too bad they didn't include Pitchfork in Concord, NH. I also wholeheartedly agree that putting these on eBay is unfortunate. Many fans, even those who could use $250 pretty bad, would never think to sell one of these.

This guy isn't terrible, I'm pretty sure 10-20% of that went to charity (Red Cross, I think). He made a post about it on reddit and he was trying to get some money together for a wedding or something. I posted about driving 100+ miles to not find the one in my state and he offered to send a couple Merle Haggard LPs and a Wes Montgomery album because he admired my dedication. I'd still rather an actual fan got it, free of charge like it was intended, but this guy at least had his mind somewhere in the right place.

Makes me terribly sad. I was lucky enough to have found one of the 50 and have many other "Rare" MMJ vinyls, and even though I was recently laid off, hospital bills out the kazoo, student loans, CC bills, etc. etc. etc., I can tell you what will NOT be going up for sale!
I don't necessarily "blame" the people auctioning off the albums, I just wish that they had fallen into better MMJ-Fans hands. :embarrassed:

Yeah, I'm not saying these are evil people. Assuming they found it fair and square, they can do whatever they want. I DO wonder if some of these are being sold by people planted by the record stores to make some $$$. I wish I'd had a shot at one, but nothing came close to my neck of the woods.
