Anyone care to make a Spotify playlist for this lineup, as it grows?
I'm stealing someone else's comment, but the folks in this lineup look like extras from steerage during the filming of Titanic.
Oh, and speculation?

We do keep moving around like ships in the night at the NFF - it's the only way to go to sample all the great music and very much in keeping with the Newport sailing tradition. So jump on board and we'll have another great time. I still have a couple of great photos of you from last year, Penny, that I don't think you've seen.
Now that Jim is single again, I think this is the year you're finally going to snag him with that gorgeous plastic bridal veil!
kiwanuka is great. buuuttttttttttt i need to see the rest of the line up before i commit
I really hope that Jim getting confirmed for Forecastle (in "Festival Speculation" thread) is a good sign for him being at Newport just two weeks later.
What I'd really love at Newport is a JJ Band set and also a JJ solo set as he's done there in the past.

I'm counting on it Jon. Beth & I saw both of Jim's solo shows at newport (2008 & 2010) and they are among the best performances we've ever seen at NFF over the 20 years we've been going to this festival.

i was chatting with bold99 and he brought up that Ryan Adams had never played the fest, also it's time to invite M Ward back this year :-)

Add Bright Eyes and you have a Monsters of Folk reunion! I think She & Him have an album coming, another reason for M. Ward to be there.

I'd love to see a MOF reunion! Haha that would be awesome! I do think, though if M. plays it'll be with Zooey. Not really complaining, but I'd like to see M. solo
Also I can confirm this news that only I care about: Lady Lamb The Beekeeper will not be at Newport
She & Him will be touring this year, and they have nothing scheduled for the end of July.
Ryan Adams would be fantastic, that is if he can STFU between songs. Love his music, but his banter annoys the hell out of me.
Jim James just announced in the lineup. I pretty much figured he would play, but it's nice to have it confirmed. Looking forward to my second Newport Folk Festival!

 Woo Hoo. I think we all expected this one but very nice to hear that it is official.
Looking forward to seeing Jim for the 4th time at my favorite summer festival.

Looks that way, though there are single-day passes for Friday still available. The 2- and 3-day passes sold out a couple of weeks ago, I believe.
Lots of new adds, but focusing on Friday, since the only tickets still available are for then, here's the latest...
Newport Folk Festival

Phosphorescent
Old Crow Medicine Show
Amanda Palmer

Friday tix here (http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/01004A22B04C7D1B?brand=folkfest50).
That's probably a tempting enough lineup for me to check it out Friday since I'll be in the area that week leading up to it anyways. I went Saturday last year for the first time and had a really good time until the storms rolled in. Amazing venue.
Only 8 official entries on the roll call?!?!
This is a weak (numerical, I mean; quality couldn't be better ) showing, folks. Certainly there must be more.

I'm very excited about the Newport show being listed as a special acoustic set! Something I've always wanted to see from Beck.
I'm planning on attending (also trying to get my parents to check it out as my mom loves Avett Brothers and both love the Felice Brothers) but don't have a ticket. If anybody needs to get rid of one-three weekend passes (or if you know of anyone trying to sell theirs) please let me know. If I can't find any for around face value I'll eventually bite the bullet and go to stubhub but figured I'd throw a post in here first.
I always assumed that Jim's set would be his current band tour deal, but I wonder if Jim might also play an acoustic show at Newport. Seems more likely now that the Newport date falls in the middle of an MMJ tour and not still doing dates on the JJ band tour.

Beck, yo!
He was also added to the Jones Beach show in place of MMJ. Dylan/Wilco/Beck.... gonna be pretty hard for me to rationalize not going to that one

For the first time, I'm going to all 3 days at Newport. Looking forward to it!
Awesome Bill! See you there!
I will be there. Not sure how I'll find you guys for the Jim set but I'll be around the area.
Can't wait.
Deer Tick aftershow guests on Sunday include the Felice Brothers. Shhhhhhhhhhhh
The Mrs. and I are probably the easiest to spot. Look for the Asian couple likely carrying a stuffed toy owl or wearing something that is distinctly Canadian, like a Canada t-shirt. Oh, I have a shaved head / brush cut.
Ms. GO4IT is tall with glasses, so she stands out.

There is a great deal of truth to that legend, my friend. Come fire walk with me.
In case parking is full at the festival...which ferry do folks recommend I take from town to the park? I've never taken a ferry from Newport to the festival. Thanks for any info.

Was anyone at any or all of the Deer Tick after party shows? I know they usually bring out surprise guests and whatnot. Plus they were playing all of Negativity one night...
There were so many of us at the Deer Tick shows. Imo, the sets w Deer Tick were among the highlights of Newport. Seeing Phosphorescent and Lang Horn Slim with them on Friday was only topped by seeing Jason Isbell and Justin Townes Earle ( and Taylor Goldsmith from Dawes) there on Saturday night. Saw Jim there Saturday night too but thats another story.
Did anybody go to the Mountain Goats set on Friday? Any thoughts.
