sorry if this is old news.
It needs its own thread, so...
The taping is on May 5th. That will be in the midst of a busy week.
5/2 Nashville>5/3 Asheville>5/4 Atlanta>5/5 ACL taping>5/6 Austin>5/7 Dallas
Wow, finally coming through for Texas!! I moved to Austin at the right time. I'm getting the SXSW free show. Going to 5/6 & 5/7. Now I have to beg my co-worker to ask his wife to get me hooked up on the ACL. She does marketing for them and can usually score taping tickets. He has told me no every time I have asked...... But....
Luckily I have turned my co-worker into a Jacket Junkie over the last few months and I think this could work. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Awesome. Hope it's a full hour. If I can't ever find a way to make it to a show, this will be a nice runner up prize.
6th appearance! MOF #1, MMJ #1, MOF #2, MMJ #2, PHJB and now JJ solo! That's tough to beat all time, and impossible to beat in the modern era.
whaa MOF was on there twice?

It was the episode with Wilco/Bright Eyes. During Bright Eyes' set he brought out M. Ward and Jim. M. Ward wore a Jacket t shirt. And Jeff Tweedy looked bad, I can't remember if that was before he checked into rehab but it definitely looked like it. Glad that shit is behind him.

I will be in Austin for the 5/6 Stubb's show. Is there any way for the general public to get tickets to this taping, or do you just have to know the right person? Thanks!
Ticket information is at the bottom of this page:

Thanks.

Update. So I told y'all my co-workers wife can get tickets if she pulls strings. Well she did, and my co-worker told her this, "I think I should take my colleague Josh because not only did he convert me to MMJ/Jim James, but this is a dream come true for him. So I will just take you to the show at Stubbs the next night".....
WOW, I literally just got an email from him a few minutes back and I screamed like a 12 year old girl at a Justin Bieber concert..... Not that I know what that is like or anything. I am still in shock about this!
I know what that's like, but I bet you did.

I knew if anyone was resourceful enough to get tickets, it would be you. Still crappy that you paid what you did. But now you get to be a part of the 3 day Jim James Texas Trifecta! (ACL Taping, Stubbs, Dallas)
Won them!

Yayyyyy! Good for you!
I seem to have good luck with Jim's tapings. Got in to MoF and MMJ and those were at the old, much smaller venue.
I scored one too, fingers crossed it doesn't fall through!
Going to Stubbs Monday as well. Hopefully it will be a nice lil 2 night run ;)
i won too! looking fwd to 2 nights of JJ...especially since i got so drink at SXSW that i missed most of his shows.
I got into the MOF taping too several years ago. that was probably my all time favorite taping that i've been to.

Thanks for coming in today!
I know this is a big and late request since the show starts in less than an hour, but is there any way someone can record the stream? It would really mean a lot to me and i'm sure many others who are unable to watch tonight.
its on sunday
hahahahahaha... and so it is.
Thanks, the stress fairy has been visiting me pretty regularly
I'm in for sure and MAY have an extra if anyone is in ATX. Not trying to get any hopes up but this isn't going to a regular shmo. lol PM if you're local. Again MAY bc my buddy might flake and I'm not bringing anyone who doesn't @ least love MMJ. I've seen Jim twice on this solo run and as usual he's on point.
And FYI to anyone local...if you don't already know, they will let you in the venue even if you don't have a ticket but wait outside until they judge capacity. They want the place packed bc it looks better that way on TV
anybody watchin'? dear one just kicked my ass.
Ya but the stream is hiccuping. Dave, help!
Mine too about once every couple minutes. It's watchable at least. Sound awesome.
I started at Dear One. Did he do SotA and Know till now? Looks like he skipped Exploding. I'm hoping he does a one hour version of the album that fits on a full length episode.
I just missed most of that due to laptop shittyness and xfinity being the worst. please tell me someone is recording this?
Austin City Limits is recording it.
GLTD jam was epic. Bass solo was my favorite part.

hahaha I wish I still had a DVR.
they're gonna cut it for the show you know? for the hour.
THAT was amazing. I might write a review tmrw.
I was on the road and couldn't watch or record! Is this available anywhere after the fact? Damn...
BH - He did the Vowels sounds and Know til Now. Mine hiccuped too. I really hope yac captured this. I thought about it, but the last time I did it, I didn't do it correctly. His Master's Voice was just perfect. I'm so glad he did that one. Also, I love how on the end of God's Love To Deliver it turns into something almost Dondante-esque. Also, Jim's sax playing on it is just fiiiiiiiiiiiine!
The show was awesome as usual. They skipped Exploding probably to fit the rest of the album as a full episode.
Encore
Wonderful (solo)
His Masters Voice
Changing World (Jam was incredible)
He was really giving the bear on stage alot of love. Between songs he would just put his hand on its head and kind of just chill/recharge. During Know Till Now he picked it up and was dancing with it. Too awesome.
Ok, now it's just salt in the wound. JY, I hope you came through like Fully said!
Changing World was my fave of the night. Will Johnson was standing next to me too. Looking forward to tonight.
Sorry guys. :embarrassed: Such pressure. I didn't capture this stream, haven't had success doing so in some time. My stream was frozen for 10 seconds every 3-5 minutes, which was frustrating only because it seemed to happen during epic moments. I have to imagine someone else might of snagged this and will keep an eye out. I'm guessing some of the encore will make the final cut and some of the album jams will not. Someone on the stream page chat said there were only about 550 viewers! I saw less than 500 at that time. Such a shame that more people didn't check it out. I loved watching Ratterman, and Jim is becoming quite the ham. Loved it.
They had a poster last night that wasn't all that different from the tour poster. I didn't buy it.
Have to wait till the broadcast as I am away for a couple of days... Damn!
Sometimes ACL will make additional songs available only on the Internet. Maybe the ones they edit out will be put up online.
I loved the performance and it was such a treat to be able to watch the stream last night.
These shows are so fantastic, and like Fully said I'm not tired of them at all yet.
The only complaint I have about them, and it is a minor one, is the use of instrumental backing tracks.
I know it is a neat and different thing than we are used to with MMJ to have Jim not playing an instrument for most of the show and thus more free to just be a badass frontman, but it just feels odd to have backing tracks for guitar parts. The ones that stuck out to me are the acoustic guitar part in God's Love to Deliver and also one of the electric guitar parts in Of the Mother Again. Seems like if Jim wants to be free and not have to play these other guitar parts, I bet someone on his crew plays guitar enough to step in and provide them or something.
One of the posts above ... with the space they need for the cameras, the crowd can't possibly be allowed any closer to the stage.
Turned up about 7.45pm (no ticket), waited for about 5-10 minutes and then straight in. There was plenty of space in the balcony, at least 300-400 spare seats up there, if not more. Was a great show, my favourites were the ones with the longer jams to end them (e.g. Changing Worlds). Looking forward to tonight and some even longer jams.
I'd have to agree with the post above on the backing tracks, I noticed it too with the start of God's Love to Deliver, and thought it was odd considering it would be such an easy part to strum.
It was totally awesome! I am not sure why I haven't watched any youtube vids of Jim's solo tour, when I am constantly trawling for them when MMJ is on tour, but I haven't. So it was all really new to me, even though I knew what to generally expect. It was such a treat to see the encores since I didn't know if he'd be playing them. Question - is the V always on that stand? I was not really a fan of that. Other than that it was an awesome preview to the awesomeness that I am sure I will be seeing on Sunday night.
Thanks, Mr. White!
amazing! thank you Mr. W! This is just right for my morning writing!
Gracias, Sr. White! I was still sulking that I missed it.
Hi everyone. Haven't been here in a while, but I was able to photograph the first three songs of Jim's ACL taping. Click the photo to see my gallery. I took close to 700 photos and was able to "narrow it down" to about 60. :)

It's a beaut, but I'm not getting the gallery, just that one awesome photo.
Is Jim really faking the Sax playing? I don't want to believe it

I'd bet he is. I can't see a microphone on it.

He for sure is during the Know Till Now sax portion. Though on Gods Love to deliver he plays it and after both the ACL and Stubbs show I just saw, I'd say he plays it very well. He jammed out on Gods Love to Deliver during the Stubbs show way more than ACL though. It was awesome.
Jim and Carl should have a Sax battle some day.
All is Forgiven as well.
He's definitely playing the sax. The man is a well of hidden talents.
He plays it everywhere except on Know Til Now although he does finger the keys. There's lots of fingering on this tour....

Hahaha....the ET phone home! Has this been going on at all the shows?
Lots of ET finger touch in Asheville.
He held out the golden panda for people to touch at the end of the show and ignited a mad bum rush !
