I will not be able to attend the MMJ show in my own town, but I thought that y'all should know how this has worked in the past. (And I did just confirm this with the host venue.) All tickets for the MMJ show at The Riverside are GA. Wristbands will be given out on an FCFS basis for the pit, and when they're gone, they're gone. Look for ushers with armfuls of colorful wristbands. One color is for the main floor, the other is for the pit. Ask them for the one you want. Knowing that many Jacketeers will be traveling for this event, I imagine that a line will form well in advance of the announced 6:30pm door time. This does not account for any changes that may be incurred by the venue or by the emergence of details about Soundcheck-like pre-events. Good luck, and have dinner at the Ale Asylum Riverhouse before the show. It's farther away than any of the other restaurants that a Google search will reveal, but you will be much happier.
When do they give out the wristbands? While you are in line or while you are filing in?
By the way... Has anyone sat in the balcony at Riverside? Some places the balcony is close enough to where it feels like your own private show if you are in the first row or two.. sometimes it's just too far back. Any thoughts?
Is it irresponsible to bring a 5 year old into the pit? He's got a Bieber moustache and says cool things like "I'm downloading my squirrel update"...so those gotta count for something.

Yes, the balcony there is nice. That's where I'll be with my parents.

Honestly, it would be a bit much for the kid, I would think, if we're talking a traditional standing only GA pit. I took my daughter to an all GA standing show (Alabama Shakes), but we were on the rail, so she was able to see. She had a protective cocoon of adults, mostly strangers, who made sure she didn't get crushed from behind or lose her spot if she needed the restroom. Same for Newport Folk Fest main stage. If you put him on your shoulders, you'd attract a lot of disdain, I would think. Looking at the venue seating chart, though, it appears to be all seated GA...

We are bringing our 7 year old daughter to KC for her first show. But i don't think we would bring her to an indoor venue quite yet unless we were in the balcony. Also, hearing protection depending on how close to the stage you are. Probably a good idea regardless.

They will likely take the front section of seats out for a traditional GA pit.
They always do for The Riverside. And last night's Alabama Shakes show played itself out exactly as I outlined above with the pit wristbands. See above...

Rows A-H looks to be exactly the amount of rows they remove for the pit. The pit can fit a good amount of people at the Riverside.

I always use priceline for dt milwaukee and it has always done me right. Stayed at the Pfister once for less than 100 a night. Will report back with whatever deal they give me.
Getting very excited for these shows, me and a buddy are flying out from Philly.
Quick question for locals - Does the Pit get super crowded, or does the wristband policy keep it comfortably spaced?
ISO 2 tickets for Saturday night by the way. Thanks!

The pit for previous MMJ shows at this venue has been very comfortable, but those shows did not sell out like Saturday did. The pit for a recent Alabama Shakes show was pretty tightly packed, and I expect Saturday's MMJ show will require pit goers to get a little familiar with each other, while Sunday will be really comfy.
I have two general admission tickets for the Sunday show that I will sell for face value if bought by a forum member. Let me know.
Anyone have a good images or seating chart of the GA configuration for these shows? I'm taking my 13-year-old daughter and, along with my current health, will likely leave the pit for others. I'm wondering what the floor and balcony seating will be like.
I've seen this, but wonder how many rows of floor seats are removed to create the pit...

Just spoke to the Box Office folk, and the kind gentleman at the window informed me that the plan for the MMJ shows is to remove (approximately) the first ten rows of seats that you see in the previously posted chart to create the GA/Pit. All tickets for these shows are GA tickets - they will hand out X wristbands for Pit access to those that request them, and once those are gone you just pick an actual sit-down seat. They generally do not announce how many bands are up for grabs, and I know from personal experience that it is difficult at best to convince any of the ushers to give one person multiple bands for persons who are running late.
How this info changes given that there is now a Soundcheck Party in MKE (I cannot believe I am missing these for a wedding) is unknown. I am happy to get answers for questions, though, as I work in the same building as the Box Office.
Curious if we know what time during the day the wristbands will be given out?

Hey roll callers,
I have an extra set of roll call tix for the sat 6/20/15 Milwaukee show.
PM if interested.

So if there's a couple or anyone with an extra"signed"poster they want to sell/trade/etc...

This will be the first Roll Call early entry for MMJ at Riverside as far as I recall. Even without early entry, I think getting in line 1 hour early would still be enough for pit access.

Agreed. I think Milwaukee show #1 marks the first time MMJ has ever sold out here, and even then I wouldn't be worried. However, as I posted earlier, it is rare to find an usher who will give you an extra pit wristband for your friend who is running late. In the past, I have stashed scissors and tape outside of the venue in order to remedy this. And, yes, there is (as far as I know) always an in-and-out policy in place at this venue. Just get your hand stamped. And don't fall in the river and wash it off.
I'm bringing my parents and want them to have a comfortable seat in the balcony - ideally up front as they won't want to stand for the whole show. Any thoughts on how early we should get there? I have early entry...hope that's enough.

Maggie, I'm thinking the same for Katherine and me. I'm banking on early entry, then she grabs us two seats while I get a poster. If you'd like to coordinate a seat grab in front row balcony, let's discuss a preshow meetup. We need to, anyway, unless you and the 'rents have other plans.

I have to give WU credit where it's due. They've been handling the early entry much better so far this tour than any other. That includes posting the details, and the entries themselves have been smooth. (At least for the shows I've been to)
I agree with ericm. It seems like most of these shows are featuring the early entry. And all seem to be right on time as listed.
Where does WU post this info? We can't rely on Johnny. Has anyone gotten an email regarding Soundcheck yet?

The early entry is posted on the site under Roll Call. There's a specific heading just for it.

As far as Sound checks go, I haven't been to one yet but I believe those details are supposed to be emailed out to us 24-72 hours before entry to them.
Still looking for a person or persons(couple) that have a soundcheck poster they'd be willing to sell, trade, etc... Me and my lady friend will be at both shows and at soundcheck. Somehow wonderful union is telling me we only have tix not poster, SOO I would be eternally grateful!

Can anyone help me out with this one: Is it in my best interest to go to the box office & pick up my tickets at will call a few hours before lining up for the early entry?
Or is it reasonable to do both at the same time?
Thanks!

I knew what ya meant, but couldn't resist. :drum:
I actually came yesterday to post that very same link, part of the MMJ website, but ericm beat me to it. Lately, he and Mr. White are making my "job" a lot easier. Thanks to everyone who helps one another on this forum. Its much of what I love about this place.

Never been to this venue, and it might be reasonable to do both at the same time but I always like having my tix in hand as early as possible. Then I can come and go as I please with one less thing to worry about.
If you're pre gaming near a venue you can keep an eye on the early entry line, and adjust your game plan accordingly. Some places people start lining up early, others not so much. Same with the amount of people doing early entry. I've been to shows with a lot of people going in early, and some not a lot at all. Having my ticket allows me to do what I want to, when I want to.

I believe Will Call is inside (in the airlock between the inner and outer doors.) You have to go inside, grab your tickets, and go outside to get in line. So I would get your tickets first, then get in the early entry line. I can't imagine the early entry line is going to be huge, so it really doesn't matter if you are in the back. I just hope the Riverside staff knows what the early entry line is.

Awesome, thank you ericm & JDUB. Big help, I've never been to the Riverside before, heading up from Chicago. Looking forward to getting up close for this one.

You got it tacos. Enjoy the show, and keep us posted.
The Riverside is a great venue! The beer is cheaper than in Chicago, and you can leave and re-enter the venue for smoking as well as drinking outside. You do need to stay within the columns of the building with your drinks.
The ticket takers/security are generally very nice people. There are plenty of parking structures close by and the parking is usually between $5.00 and $10.00.
Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow, my friend should be arriving at my place at 2:30pm and then we are leaving Chicago area and heading up to Milwaukee. We have to check into our hotel (which is 10 mins away from Riverside Theater) and then we are going to head over. Should be there by 5:30pm to grab our Will Call tix and get in line for early entry.
Can't wait for these two shows (plus Soundcheck on Sunday)!!!!!!!!

Lots of Summer construction happening as you enter Milwaukee from the south, folks. Leave early if you're able.

Not sure how they've been playing Steam Engine at other shows, but this was an absolute monster tonight.
