I will not be able to attend the MMJ show in my own town, but I thought that y'all should know how this has worked in the past.  (And I did just confirm this with the host venue.)  All tickets for the MMJ show at The Riverside are GA.  Wristbands will be given out on an FCFS basis for the pit, and when they're gone, they're gone.  Look for ushers with armfuls of colorful wristbands.  One color is for the main floor, the other is for the pit.  Ask them for the one you want.  Knowing that many Jacketeers will be traveling for this event, I imagine that a line will form well in advance of the announced 6:30pm door time.  This does not account for any changes that may be incurred by the venue or by the emergence of details about Soundcheck-like pre-events.  Good luck, and have dinner at the Ale Asylum Riverhouse before the show.  It's farther away than any of the other restaurants that a Google search will reveal, but you will be much happier.

By the way... Has anyone sat in the balcony at Riverside?  Some places the balcony is close enough to where it feels like your own private show if you are in the first row or two.. sometimes it's just too far back.  Any thoughts?

Honestly, it would be a bit much for the kid, I would think, if we're talking a traditional standing only GA pit.  I took my daughter to an all GA standing show (Alabama Shakes), but we were on the rail, so she was able to see.  She had a protective cocoon of adults, mostly strangers, who made sure she didn't get crushed from behind or lose her spot if she needed the restroom.  Same for Newport Folk Fest main stage.  If you put him on your shoulders, you'd attract a lot of disdain, I would think.  Looking at the venue seating chart, though, it appears to be all seated GA...

We are bringing our 7 year old daughter to KC for her first show.  But i don't think we would bring her to an indoor venue quite yet unless we were in the balcony.  Also, hearing protection depending on how close to the stage you are.  Probably a good idea regardless.
