I know somebody mentioned Jazz Fest, not sure if there is a buzz about having the boys back on the farm, or Coachella or smaller fests like Mountain Jam, Electric Forest, Peach fest etc.
Appears that some folks around here have inside info and was hoping they could share their wealth of knowledge.
My buddies and I do a festival every year, its usually Roo, but are strongly considering the GnR reunion at Coachella.. A MMJ addition elsewhere would definitly shift the vote... but unfortunately we need to figure out Coachella sooner rather than later.
I have no sources or insider info here, but generally speaking Roo doesn't tend to have bands back to back year, especially on the level of MMJ being almost a headliner (opened for the main Saturday headliner last year). That being said, I would give anything to see MMJ back on the farm this year!! In regards to other fests though I don't know enough to speculate.

i know this isn't reliable at all, but maybe sasquatch? i stumbled on this earlier this morning.

The two Meccas of concert venues, RR and the Gorge, both have eluded me thus far. But 2016 I will be at MMJ RR and now maybe the Gorge. Oh man. :drum:
Isn't Sasquatch! the same weekend as Red Rocks? Hard to believe they would play Friday-Saturday-Sunday at venues 1000 miles apart...
I have been to the Gorge probably 15+ times, I'll take RR every day! The Gorge can, at times, be excruciatingly hot. When the sun does set over the Columbia River though, it's a pretty magical place.
pssst, please play High Sierra MMJ!

They closed Mnt Jam i believe in 2012, great show.. I love Mountain Jam because its 2 hours from my house, I hate Mountain Jam because it always rains and it is always FREEZING
I have not been. It's a 3 hour trip for us but we usually just do Newport Folk which always quenches our summer festival thirst.

Its a great fest, well run.. Warren usually puts a great line up together, and shows go very late which I love. Its always a must see Mule set if you're a fan of that band. Camping on the mountain can be brutal, always on a slope, the hike up and down can be tiring and like I mentioned the weather is always cold and rainy, I wish they did it in July instead of June. If your tent/clothes get soaked you're in for a pretty miserable weekend.
June is indeed a fickle month. The lineups always look impressive. My wife goes to Woodstock NY at least once per summer. I think we would make that a joint trip and likely go 1 or 2 days only to the Jam.
I am really hoping for a return of the Life is Good Festival here in MA.
Shaky Knees lineup will be announced this coming Monday (1/11). I've said it for a while .... in my opinion better than 50 percent odds MMJ headlines this. Festival creator is a huge Jacket fan, named the festival after a song for crying out loud, and it hasn't worked out in them coming (Jim was at the inaugural fest three years ago solo) yet. I think they're in for ATL in April.
JazzFest lineup announcement should be either that same day or Tuesday. Haven't gotten as good a feel about MMJ in NO, but it's certainly a possibility. We'll see next week.

Yes, Sasquatch is always Memorial Day weekend. Planes exist, so who knows...they could play both there and RR.
Hoping for Shaky Knees... got a pretty big Jacket contingent heading down for that!
Hoping wherever they end up playing (ATL or NO or both) that they schedule a few dates in and around the area leading up to or after the festival appearances!
Take it for what it's worth, but the JazzFest lineup apparently leaked today. To call it massive would be a serious understatement.
Highlights include: Stevie Wonder, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young, Snoop Dogg, Paul Simon, Van Morrison, and Herbie Hancock with Wayne Shorter, My Morning Jacket, Gary Clark Jr., Johny Lang, Buddy Guy, Mavis Staples, Dr. John, Govt Mule, Arlo Gunthrie, Boz Scaggs, Tedeschi Trucks, Snarky Puppy, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, Julio Iglesias, Michael McDonald, Maxwell, Lauryn Hill, Galactic, Janelle Monae, Preservation Hall, Kermit Ruffins, The Isley Brothers, Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly, Chris Botti, Grace Potter, Brandi Carlile, Buffy Sainte Marie, Aaron Neville, Arturo Sandoval, Ellis Marsalis, Irma Thomas, CeCe Winans, Taj Mahal, Terence Blanchard, Gregory Porter, The Lone Bellow, Punch Brother, Elvin Bishop, John Hammond, Alpha Blondy, Rhiannon Giddens, Elle King, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk with Art Neville, Rebirth, Jonathan Batiste, Big Freedia, Mystikal... to name a few.
We'll find out next week if this is legit!
Holy crap, if thats legit, its HUGE never seen a line up quite like that.
Unfortunately when they do announce jazz fest lineup they still won't say which bands are playing which weekend. That info comes weeks later.
MMJ is rumored to be Friday night headliner, 2nd weekend of Jazzfest. They announce which weekend bands are playing, just not time slots, when they announce the lineup.

Hate to rain on a parade but i think its fake.. Bob Seger is already confirmed and not on this list.
I think ol' Seger just got confused. He has confirmed he will not be playing JazzFest this year after all.

As crazy as this "leaked" lineup is, I have every reason to believe it's legit.
Oh man- If MMJ, Pearl Jam and Neil are the same weekend...
Bummer. What is that like the first time? That's like their fest! The one year I may go.
Heard pj and Neil are week 1.
Are we sure MMJ is Wknd 2?

That would be amazing!! Hoping it's true. I've heard wildly conflicting reports on which weekend Neil will be at the Fair Grounds this year.
I'm on the fence on which weekend to do. If it's PJ+NY Weekend 1 and MMJ weekend 2- it would be a tough decision. I guess it would matter where Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon and Van Morrison wind up.
I would think they headline the Sat night Shaky Knees especially if its a week after Jazzfest so they can play Bham and some Tennessee dates in between...guess we will know tom. The Shaky Knees lineup has never let me down. Their joke of a presale is another story...

Shaky Knees is official! Looks like a Saturday night set, but that's still TBD.
Great lineup all around actually. I'm definitely in!
question is hows the late night club shows going to pan out. Will MMJ play with Preservation Hall? Been to Jazz fest once and the 7 PM fest end time is brutal IMO.
Lost in all of this, is the indication that we may get a pretty decent tour this coming spring/summer. Looking at their touring history, I think maybe a template for what to expect may be found in 2010:
http://archive.mymorningjacket.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=category§ionid=4&id=47&Itemid=26
Will be very interesting to see what kind of non-festival stops we get.
err. Indication is the wrong word. I have no evidence for that other than the fact that we now know they are playing in three different cities and at least one of those is a non-festival date. Certainly seems like a tour is forming.
Just confirmed for Shaky Knees, along with Florence, Houndmouth, Strand of Oaks, EODM...

I've never hoped a random internet person is wrong more than I am right now. Don't know if my fragile psyche can take another week of suspense. Though if Roo isn't announcing till the 19th, suppose it makes sense they both announce then so no one gets the early PJ announcement exclusivity.
That makes sense. Also explains the delay in PJ announcing their dates. Maybe all getting announced next Tuesday.

I did not get the lineup from the guy referenced in the text, I got it through much shadier alleys -- some DeadHead who admittedly takes his coffee with a splash of LSD. But I'm still under the belief this is legit! Makes way too much sense, unlike most batshit crazy internet mock lineups.

Me too. Thought the boys might make a late Sunday or Monday appearance tho.
Might just be me or might just be because I'm getting older but overall the announced festival lineups so far this year are pure garbage (Coachella, firefly, Sasquatch, hangout etc.)

This weekend breakdown has been circulating, but I question its legitimacy. I've heard from multiple sources that Sharon Jones is weekend one, so that throws my confidence in this whole thing into question. Oddly enough I texted my buddies the lineup to this fest five minutes before you made this post.
Very impressive lineup for a small town one day festival, also love how it's 40 minutes from my house and there is camping... unfortunately my baby is due 7/10. Hopefully next year for me!
For sure gonna be a fun day. Same distance for me. I'm on Cape.
Sounds like your priorities are in order however. Good luck.
So I guess this Ray Lamontagne thing means festival dates this summer are unlikely. I do see there is a two week gap in his tour around 4th of July weekend, so still holding out hope for jacket at high Sierra!
I'm thinkin' that the Red Rocks shows will be the last Jacket shows of the year. Mayyyyyyyyyyybe a little run around the holidays. But then they come out SWINGIN' in 2017 with OBHIII!

its funny to me to see some hate for mmj on jambases announcement post on facebook. while i dont really care, these people cant accept that jam bands and rock bands (even though mmj does jam) cant go together.
im not doggin their opinions, im all about being positive, but just annoys me when people automatically write off bands and just shove their hate down peoples throats.
also, guess i gotta keep in mind, most people that do comment are gonna be saying negative things!

the email from Lockn indicates its 1:
Dear LOCKN' friends,
We're excited to share the initial lineup for LOCKN' 2016 with you!
Please join us in welcoming: Phish, Ween, My Morning Jacket, Joe Russo's Almost Dead, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Brandi Carlile, Gary Clark Jr., Galactic, Keller's Grateful Gospel, Keller's Grateful Grass, Lettuce, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Turkuaz, Twiddle, Umphrey's McGee, Vulfpeck and White Denim.
Phish will be making its first appearance at the festival with an unprecedented two-night, four-set headlining slot. To add to the once-in-a-lifetime experience, Ween, fresh off three sold-out reunion shows in Broomfield, CO, will perform right before Phish on one night. Another LOCKN' first timer, the beloved My Morning Jacket, will headline and Joe Russo's Almost Dead will perform two late-night sets.
I would expect some serious additions. Past years have seemed to have like 10 headliners...
I went when Wilco was part of the line up. I can't do the 100 degree heat index festivals anymore, but it was fun. The crowd was also very ketamine and Molly lovin, patch pants wearin, glow stick wieldin smelly people. So I could do with out that.
Looks like Jacket will be Saturday. Which is a relief for me b/c that's degrees of magnitude easier for me to make happen. Hopefully JRAD plays a late night set that night as well.
Dream Saturday Lineup:
Keller Grateful Grass>White Denim>Charles Bradley>Gary Clark Jr>CRB>Jacket>JRAD

Anyone been to this festival before?
yea, me and Capt Scotty went in '14. It was one of the greatest weekends of my life. Whatcha want to know?
Just curious about what kind of people show up. In my experience, jam fests can be great or they can be pretty trashy. I don't mind the flat brimmed hat kids with the pins and stuff, or even the glow stick crowd, what i'm concerned about is stuff like the nitrous mafia or other organized thug crime groups running around selling hard and bad shit (see: All Good Festival when it was in Thornville, OH). Just wrecks the vibe when you see paramedics wheeling out kids on stretchers because they were fed something terrible or groups of guys being all tense and suspicious looking at all times.

When I went WSP, Phil, Petty and Allmans were headliners. When you sub out say Petty/Allmans for 2 nights of Phish, you're going to have a big difference in the crowd.
There was definitely a wookie contingent and I heard some people got some stuff stolen, but I didn't see any kids with the dope lean on or see/hear any fights or sirens. They had a private security team on horseback that cruised the campsites. They were actually very courteous.
I would have no hesitation going back and hope to for Jacket's Saturday headlining set.

In for that!
LOCK'N looks pretty sweet. Tho I'm not a huge Phish or Ween fan.
Imagine, if it were Dead & Co with Pearl Jam and MMJ. I would be there camping out right now. Just imagine that headline grouping! Could've been possible this summer at some location I suspect.
Digressing, this fest looks great. Formerly Austin Psych Fest.
