Does anyone have any summer tour rumors?
I am by no means somebody with the important connections to know... But they are playing Electric Forest and hopefully putting out a new album, which is promising!
based upon some bits of fact, lots of innuendo, some rumors, a magic 8ball, and lots of desperate yearning, my assumptions are thus:
they hit the studio after OBH3 for a few months (this is confirmed). I'm guessing Stinson again with Tucker and then some follow-on mixing in LA and the 'Ville with Kevin.
Then they strategically target spring and summer festivals that continue to expand fan base (EF already announced, I'm praying for Mountain Jam, and perhaps a few more.)
They will either build a mini Summer tour around a 2 night stand at Red Rocks - I'm guessing no more than 10-15 dates, or a full tour like 2015 if the album drops by May.
If the Album drops mid-late Summer, then possibility of short Fall tour and praying for another run at the Beacon - then they hit the road hard - hoping NYE and the full monty into early 18
Don't quote me, but this is about as close a guess as I can make
I thought I read somewhere that they will be recording the new record in LA.

Jim said that in the RS interview, I believe.
I'm hoping, as always, for multi-night runs of shows in one city, indoor venues like Wiltern, Beacon, Port Chester, etc. These tend to happen in the Fall and Winter, and with how long it takes to record, mix and release albums, I'm guessing a fuller tour later in the year is more likely, with the scattered shows here and there at the festivals in the summer.

Is that mini summer tour around 2 a 2 night stand at Red Rocks something from the bits of facts category or the innuendo or yearning category? Please say a former.
Jim did say recording in the spring. I don't know how long it takes to do all the post production and mixing, but it's gotta be at least several months. Correct? So like Shug, I think an album in late 2017 and tour to follow is more likely. We can meet again at the Masonic!
Did you see Wilco's upcoming tour? I hope MMJ does some seriously long multi night runs like that. And some scattered summer dates to warm up would be great indeed.
Unfortunately a guy on the FB page said they are not booked for RR this year and will only do a few pop up festivals this summer. Im hoping hes wrong but seemed to know what he was talking about.
If one of those festivals happen to be in Telluride CO this summer that might make up for my disappointment on not going back to Red Rocks.

Red Rocks is booked for memorial day weekend, but that doesn't mean they won't be there at all next summer - I'm guessing August

any inkling of what festivals, other than Electric Forest, they'll be in?
Mountain Jam seems incredibly likely to me. Havent announced the third headliner and it will most likely be a "modern" headliner with Petty and Steve Miller already announced. They are booked for EF the following week (natural touring distance for a week). They are also just "due" to play MJ. Makes too much sense. Fingers crossed.

AMEN
I'm wondering if they'll ever get invited to Wilco's Solid Sound. I'd consider flying back to New England for that!

45 minutes from my house (just like Mountain Jam)
I like the way you think Yac!
I've been hoping for Mountain Jam as well and have been holding the weekend. I also would take a Solid Sound if that could possibly happen. I have the end of June open and plan to be at one or other!
'Roo announcement comes out early next week. Shaky Knees too (but MMJ just played that one). If they're at 'Roo then I'd be really optimistic about more June dates.

Such a big tease! :)
heard a rumor of Ride Fest in Telluride - can anyone confirm???
Someone I know with connections to a band from LA said that such band is supposed to tour with MMJ next year... Not sure on where, when, or how many shows they will do, but it sounded pretty legit for a tour!

Dawes just came out with a new album so that make sense. nattaragga..... I hope when you say "next year" you don't mean 2018. I can't wait that long!
I assume those at OBH will have news in a few weeks.

I hope they aren't going to announce dates in piecemeal, would hate to commit to this then have a Red Rocks or Boston date pop up. Can't do em all like I used to.
Also just realized my roll call expired, surprised i didn't get an email notifying me. Sucks Deluxe is sold out, the $15 digital is not worth it at all, not sure anyone ever gets tickets with that membership.

Last I checked, the 2017 roll call package wasn't for sale yet... And yeah, WU does a horrible job with... everything. But especially in letting you know your sub has expired. It's almost like they don't want our money.

so what roll call members will get access to tomorrows presale? Digital only? Something isn't adding up unless they are going to unlock the 2017 roll call at some point today.

It's a 14k seat stadium vs 3k at the Beacon. That's a lot of tickets to sell for them.
How crazy is it to hold out a small hope that Mt Jam is still a possibility? The Facebook post says New York, but the Roll Call email says New York City. Hunter Mountain is not NYC.

My 2016 won't be expired until March, so my deluxe will still be valid for the presale tomorrow.
Why do people hate on the digital roll call membership? I'm out of the loop. I used it to get some pretty great seats for the Jim James show in Mpls in December...but maybe i got lucky?
I would take the Roll Call email over the graphic and maybe Mt Jam is still in play. Though it would be weird for them to be in NY in June for Mt Jam and then in NYC in July, just from a tour logistic standpoint but they could tour outdoor places down through Ohio, KY, TN and then back up mid Atl, like Char, Raleigh, MPP...
If they get in studio, get the album work done, it's hard to pass by the tour season $$$ when you're hitting a new growth opportunity after Lock'n/Hula. Fingers crossed for a late summer mid-Atlantic run.
I noticed they followed Blitzen Trapper on twitter. Maybe that's a possibility?

For the tough ticket shows there's always people who have the Deluxe getting shut out, no way there's a chance for the Digital members to get those tix 15 or 30 minutes later. Plus I don't believe the Digital comes with the early entry laminate which to me is worth the cost of my membership alone.
If they are hitting the studio in March, we won't see a tour this year. My guess would be they do album this year with few select dates to play. Do OBH4 next year, release album, then 2015 all over again tour wise

You may be right but I think it might be more like a few select dates over the Summer, with some fall/end of year shows or runs similar to the SF and Beacon ones we saw in 15.

Now that OBH3 is done, are there any updates on Summer/Fall dates? Even if there is no tour maybe there will be a few dates. Saw some rumors in the OBH3 thread and they are messing with my emotions.

Would make sense for a 3-4 week tour at the usual east coast-ish spots around a couple of festival hits.
I wonder if this little August run will be headlining shows or just festival gigs leading up to a Red Rocks weekend?

Mule makes a ton of sense, Peach is a ABB fest and Mule is part of the ABB family. I'd actually guess they do some sort of Allmans set in honor of Butch. They definitely need some sort of festival presence especially considering they got ousted from their very own Mountain Jam.

well, Warren basically owns Mt Jam fest, so not sure "ousted" is the right term - I think he's just stepped back and allowing others to fill the roster this year. In any event, my guess for August is a few select headlining festival slots and maybe a dozen shows culminating at RR

For those who have been to Red Rocks and general MMJ show veterans (I've been to 3, but them seems mild compared to everyone here), do you have a decent estimate to when they might announce these August dates -- particularly RR? The Red Rocks rumor right now is three shows across labor day weekend in September.. take it for what its worth, I'd venture to guess if these Peach fest rumors are true then you can count on that also being true since they are all coming from the same place.

pretty good source indicates that Jacket has a hold on RR for Fri-Sun on Labor Day weekend - they could drop it, of course, but suspect this is a good sign for a robust August roll out
Trying not to get my hopes up but Labor day weekend is the weekend after my bday :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:

Youre in Michigan right? I went to Colorado for the first time last year from Kalamazoo. Definitely gonna go again.
really hope Jacket plays RR over labor day.
does it depend on if Phish plays Dick's? same management company. Does Dick's happen only if the bakers dozen sells well?

Port Chester
Wiltern
Masonic
Chicago theater
...to name a few
I meant at Red Rocks...
Reading is fundamental. My bad.
No they have not.
heh heh
Guess we just wait and see how it pans out. Wonder if they would do a 3 night stand elsewhere if RR doesn't happen
Management, please just announce these dates or clarify they were just rumors. The fans need to ask for time off and two of the cheaper airlines have not released flights for this time period yet. Announcing now (next Monday...hint hint) give US more time to make plans and the cheapest travel arrangments. Cheaper travel arrangments also give us more money to spend on OBH 4.
yes yes yes exactly. we're all in this boat.

i wonder what other outdoor place would work for 3 days? It would probably be a place with some history or notoriety...somewhere that travel and lodging are easy.
Gorge? The Greek? Hollywood Bowl? Ravinia in Chicago?
I personally think it would be cool if they did a several 2 night stands at places like Merriweather, Ascend, Starlight Theater, etc
The Ascend is such a great venue. would love to see them there this Summer or Fall.

The thought of them playing at Ravinia just made my heart skip a beat...that place is my stomping grounds. Some of my best memories in the whirled are at that place...and weirdly enough include the likes of Jethro Tull and Peter, Paul, and Mary.
Somewhere in the multiverse, Jacket is playing there.
That Jethro Tull (with Procol Harum) show was amazing. My friend and I had lawn seats but scoped out a spot at the outer rail to watch the Procol Harum set. After they played White Shade of Pale, this much older couple walked to the exit and handed us their tickets saying they saw what they came to see. Turned out, they had second row seats, dead center. Was such an amazing kindness and memory for me.
Jacket at Ravinia would be a dream show.
I just heard from a pretty reliable source that a two-night Nashville run is imminent. Anyone else hear that?

doubtful - they are in studio Feb-early May and then hitting the road in June - I'm guessing final mix in the Fall in between tours with Album dropping early 2018. Assuming we may see some road testing this summer

It's so crazy, because just the mention of this opened up a wormhole of all the legends I have seen on that stage...of all the times spent with my family and friends in every imaginable stage of being...Tony Bennett, Buddy Guy, Robert Plant, Wynton Marsalis, Richie Havens, The Beach Boys, the CSO, and on and on and on.
I don't know that I've ever really reflected on it, but it makes me so happy. It is definitely the venue where I have seen the most shows in my life. Jacket would be so lovely. I would just lay on the lawn and smile. ☺🤗
And that story of the sweet people during the Tull/Harem show, and that we were there at the same time, is just extraordinary. To hear "Whiter Shade of Pale" was pretty mindblowing live.
Whiter Shade of Pale is such a great song!
And to score 2nd row center seats, wow!!!
wooow lots of Jacket energy going down....please come back to SLC and do Saltair like originally planned in 2015
- RR , 3 NIGHTS??
- Nashville 2 nights???
- Merriweather?
- live album mixing
- new album recording in March

If its at the Ryman, you gotta go APR. Everyone should see a band they like at the Ryman at least once in their lives. Its sacred ground, literally.
More likely I think it would be at the Ascend Amphitheater. Truly awesome medium sized 2 year old outdoor venue right downtown. 6800 capacity. I have been in the pit, in the pavilion and on the lawn there and all 3 are great!! It's an all around awesome outdoor venue. I hope MMJ plays 2 nights there this Summer or Fall.
Though if MMJ plays The Ryman that would be ridiculous! Agree that it's a venue everyone should get to. They would sell that place out in a heartbeat though.

Yeah Ryman is very small for MMJ. I did not see the Crowes there, they played it in 2008 acoustic and in 2013, too right?
I saw Wilco there for two nights a few years ago and Tedeschi Trucks Band still plays there, so its not outside the realm of possibility.
Just announce dates already... :undecided:
I would love to see TTB or Wilco there! The Black Crowes shows in 2013 sold out so fast that I had to buy tickets on stub hub for a small fortune. The best thing happened to me though: the seats I bought were actually obstructed view but the seller on stub hub didn't say so. Stub Hub called me and offered me 3rd row seats or a refund. It was very cool of them. Of course I took the upgraded seats!
Peach lineup is out tomorrow, so either MMJ drops their dates in sync with the Peach lineup, or Peach gets a couple weeks of exclusivity and we're looking at mid-to-late March as a best case scenario for more dates.

Ascend shows that second weekend of July would be so perfect. I'm just afraid that the one time Jacket is going to be playing within a six hour drive of me this summer will be the first weekend in July when I have tickets for Jason Isbell already... :undecided:

a 12/31/2017 Red Rocks show in the snow??? now....I know i've mentioned this before while I was really high, but seriously...doesn't that just sound plain fun to anyone else??? rolling around in a huge coat and hat and gloves, guzzling brews and eating Chelsea's amazing homemade pilaf and roast beef sandwiches, bread glazed and baked in butter and onions and provolone cheese......then, large mugs of hot coffee mixed with the most chocolately of hot chocolates, joints being rolled left and right and passed like it's the Bill of Rights.....
.....and the only people there at RR are the diehards ....what a party that'd be

I would for sure take the loss on Isbell but my significant other would not be pleased at all, she loves him and has only a passing interest in MMJ. We shall see.
Are they gonna throw a bone out to the West Coast? It's been a long dry spell. (Awesome as the collaborations looked, I wouldn't count Bridge School as a full MMJ event).
Any word if Newport is in the mix? That would make FH an off date.

I mean, with only 20 shows over the last 15 months, it's been a pretty long dry spell everywhere! Hoping that we'll see a good amount of shows all over the place this year, but with a new album on the way, and all the work that entails, I'm sadly not hugely optimistic.

im assuming they will roll the fan club info out with the tour announcement thus providing incentive to join.
Well if they are doing a tour, the announcement can't be too far off. I'd wager next week or the next. Just a guess tho, I got no intel.
If anyone has any intel as to when anything would be announced, now would be the time to step up. I AM JONESIN' BAD OVER HERE!!!
was really hoping for an addition to High Sierra, but sadly don't think it's going to happen. Gov't Mule was just added (not a fan at all) and I think that pretty much rounds off the headliners. Still a fantastic lineup, but MMJ would have been the icing on the cake.

Kind of sucks if the band doesn't offer some for of fan club. You look at a band like Pearl Jam that has a loyal base as well and the 10 club is a big reason. Hoping they offer something.
$46-76 is the range for MPP. I like Gary Clark Jr, but I think I'd be happier w/ a lesser known act for a cheaper price but that's just me.
Also looks like you have to pay for parking at MPP now.
The Portland venue is outdoors, all GA. Right on the water. Roll call probably wouldn't beneficial for that show at least.
I am fired up for this one. Last Portland show (2010, I think? Warm up for T5) was a doozy
Any word on Nashville? I'll drive to Cleveland if I have to but I'd rather not if there will be a date closer.
I'd guess the Nashville dates will be before Charlotte, Ascend is open 7/6 and 7/7 but they aren't playing 4 straight nights at 3 different venues, so that really puts that first weekend of July as the likely dates for a 2 nighter right? It's unlikely they'd book a 2 night w/out it being on or near a weekend.

so like a lot of people, my deluxe roll call expired in December. does this mean I'm stuck with either buying a digital membership (which I doubt I would do) or trying my luck with the public sale?
I just emailed WU because my deluxe expired last week (03.07.17) and I received NO NOTIFICATION about it or to renew. I requested it be renewed as of last week and to keep the deluxe, which I've had for 2 years now. I don't even care if there are "extras" that I'll receive as part of the package. Now I just have my fingers crossed that I receive a favorable reply...

There was talk of two nights in Nashville. Does anyone know of that rumor being still out there? Has MMJ been known to play four nights in a row? They could add a show July 6. But that would mean they play four shows back to back in three cities.

I'm torn on whether or not there will be more dates. A fall run out west makes sense, but I imagine they'll be pretty busy mixing the new LP. Maybe a similarly small run in Q4 built around a festival appearance or two?

i could definitely see a small fall/winter tour out west. And if they record out there, it might make even more sense for that. They played a few dates on The Waterfall tour in 2015 out West but aside from Bridge School they've played less than 15 times since 2012 (10x in 2011, 4x in 2012, 2x in 2013, 0 in 2014, 7x in 2015, 0 in 2016).

I'm assuming this would be at the 1stBank Center. Seems like an odd choice.

Correct. Capacity is 6,500, seems like a decent fit to me.

Anybody know what the NYC venue is? I don't see it on their website with the rest of their dates.

Now I just have my fingers crossed that I receive a favorable reply...
not to be a downer but you most liekly wont
myself and a few others have been told a generic response "we'll let yu know if and when, deluxe is currently out of stock"
I finally called after not getting a reply email... They said the deluxe packages have not be available since last September and it was the bands decision to only have the digital package.
Oh, and even though there's a box you can (and I did) have checked for email notices about your renewal, that doesn't actually work. "I don't know why that's out there."
Digital package it is! Disappointing after having deluxe for 2 years.
The Columbus date says its with The Districts but Gary Clark is playing too. Thats going to be an awesome night. The Districts were in Columbus last week and they killed it.
Six years since they played ACL. Any chance?

Forrest Hills Stadium in Queens. Sat. 7/15
So bummed on the no west coast dates.
I don't think Broomfield seems like an odd choice at all. Lots of fans in the greater Denver area, and centrally located in the country. I'd gladly take it.
West Coast could get some love later in the year.

...Fingers crossed for a late summer mid-Atlantic run.

hey ericm, i just spotted your sig line. i'd forgotten that moment!
Hoping I can grab tickets for Nashville tomorrow. I fly into Memphis from Spain on the 7th and then would hit the road for Nashville.
I expect the internet to be a'buzzin' tomorrow 'morn!
So is anyone else thinking that Riverbend is way too big for MMJ. Forgive me if this was discussed but the pavilion was barely full when they opened for Dylan & Wilco there. i kind feel like the lawn will be totally empty.

Haha. I've told you more than once I so look forward to your handwritten setlist/reviews and comments right after a show. It's a post show must do for me.
That line's a classic and it's right up there with "Rampant Badassery"! I think a new sticker is in order.

It looks like they're playing PNC Pavilion which is located at Riverbend.
 Right, a much smaller pavilion on the same property. It's a pretty cool spot. 4100 seats, no lawn. And being the closest show to Louisville I think they won't have trouble filling it.
See smaller covered pavilion at bottom of pic:

ha, I fell backwards into that one figuring how they could do Mt Jam and play the Queens show. But end result = MMJ & GCJ at MPP this summer!
2nd row at MPP, Carl side...no sweat.
Cincy Sec 101 Row B, reserved. Hard tickets shipping...C-bus pre-sale are will call, will wait for hard tickets
Did you use a redeem code?
Thanks

No code for Cincy
There is a code in my dashboard for MasMoca...
Code? no, just go to the Concert page and the Tickets link should be active.
Only Cleveland needs code next week
my deluxe is expired. says you need a code if you try and select the show you want.
Did the pit for Cinci really sell out in seconds? I was logged in at 10:02 and best I got was 100, row B. Ain't complaining, it just seems wild!
It's demanding that I need a redeem code. Why does this have to be so complicated?

idk how it was for Cincy but for MPP there were 3 ticket options: GA, Reserved, Lawn and you picked that and your qty to see what you got.
I was able to get my Reserved seats and even go back in and get GA for some friends

i saw a button for Redeem Code but I didn't use it. I figured it was just there for times when there could be a code redeemed
After having made the decision to take the trip up from DC, spend a few days in NYC, visit friends, and get tickets to see my favorite band in Queens, I cannot say I am happy about there now being an MPP show the night before.

Yep, I was on right at 10 and 1st thing I saw was Pit SOLD OUT (in seconds)!
I did get 101 Row B & they are hard tix so Ok!
Hoping for pit in Nashville at top of the hour!
So it sounds like only deluxe memberships are able to purchase tickets right now.

Wow - that is nerve-wracking.

Does anyone have or anticipate having passwords for the IMP presale for the MPP show? I wonder whether pit tickets will be available during the presale?
Nashville tickets got kinda poor quickly. I am releasing the tickets I got and hope for general sale.

Sweet!! I love The Ascend. I got Pit for a show there last year and it was an incredible thing! Hoping to just get in the seats for this show on the regular sale Friday!
got 4 seats, i am guessing 18th row center, for nashville and 2 ga for cbus.
love having some tix in the hopper!
so bummed this isn't West Coast and I can't be there but...for all you east coast and middle America Jacket peoples, I hope you got seats and everything. COME ON JACKET, COME OUT WEST!!!

I had to go somewhere during the Nashville (central time) pre-sale and thought I'd be shut out for sure. I was surprised to find there were a few random seats left. I got one alone in the center section just behind the pit areas (Sec. 102, Row H, Seats 19 and 20). I kept trying for another one nearby for my brother, and lo-and-behold, there was another seat right next to mine that popped up after several refreshes and retries! I grabbed it!
exactly where i am, but seats 5-8
The Lollapalooza lineup was announced today and they're not on it, so now I'm super confused about the big hole in the itinerary in late July/early August

maybe time to mix the album? just a wild guess, i'm not familiar with recording process.
it also could be they need that time off for other obligations, personal or professional
I imagine that gap will remain just that. Appears they're trying to avoid the arduous month-after-month tour schedule that can grind a band down. They haven't done a leg longer than a couple weeks for the last few years. I'd expect that to continue for the foreseeable future, at least until they're officially on the new album cycle.
