Far and Away.

Why Cruise didn't get nominated, I'll never know.  He had that accent nailed.
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

The Departed is not perfect but it's so damn close.

1. the graduate
2. rushmore
3. red beard

i love a lot of movies, but those three, holy fuck.  they make me feel the spirit in which i think they were made.

Definitely had a brain fart and my second nomination ought to be The Electric Horseman. Classic Robert Redford. A bit cheesy, but still relatively wonderful. Good plot, great chases, a not-terribly happy/cliché ending. My dad has this thing for really frickin cheesy transcendentalist 70's westerns. Not the worst thing you could be into, but some of it's just flat-out lame. Electric Horseman is certainly worth watching, though. (Plus, I think every man needs that guilty "I'd go gay for..." guy and Robert Redford definitely takes it in this one for me. Just a thought.)
The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

I like the way you think!  I am also a huge Woody Allen fan.  I'd add Purple Rose of Cairo to that list.
