I love sports and all (I really do), but with the economy and war and health insurance and etc...

It's just a towel.

and it's just a game.

and that's not a real cardinal, that's some guy in a cardinal "outfit"

Ads for the super bowl cost millions, and youre bringing up the economy because of a 1 minute excerpt on a Pittsburgh news channel 3 days before our team is playing in the superbowl?!?!!

And I dont think this will really affect players as much as it would have had they played Tennessee again after they disgraced the towel since it wasnt a player, but you just dont do that to the Terrible Towel that adorns the great Myron Cope's name. It never works out good, put your mortgage on Pittsburgh now.

you really think the Steelers would dig a little deeper against someone who disgraced "a towel"? I mean think about it, you're getting amped up for the game, making millions of dollars, in front of millions of viewers, living out your life long dream... but then you find out someone stepped on our "towel"?!?!?!?!  Well, NOW it's on!  :)

give me a break. That "extra incentive" stuff is nonsense.

it's a towel and that's a guy in a cardinal outfit

it's a spectacle!

capt. scotty

Thats why I said I dont think really adds incentive, but in Tennessee's case since it was LenDale and Bullock stepping on it on national TV, it wouldve added some incentive.

if you need added incentive to win a game to go to the Super Bowl, then you need to have your head examined.

All the former players I heard interviewed said that TV helps create all that extra drama, but the players know what it takes to get up for a game, and someone stepping on your "towel" isn't an added boost;  it's made for TV drama. And all that talk about "bulletin board material" is TV hype to generate talk during the week to peak the fan's and media interest, to get butts in the seats, to sell beer and jerseys and "towels" for people to wave over their heads. Silly.

Don't you think the fact someone on the opposing team is trying to knock the shit out of you, and everyone else on your team, might be incentive enough to try as hard as you can?

Can you imagine James Harrison giving a pre-game pep talk if they had played the Titans, "Come on fellahs! I wasn't really up for this AFC championship game that will get us all that Super Bowl bonus money and a shot at more money if we win and the prestige and honor to be world champions and living a life long dream, but since they stepped on our 'towel' I feel we must elevate our play. They stepped on our "towel" man, let's go kick their asses!!".  ;D

Believe the hype.

Great Super Bowl, one for the ages!

ManNamedTruth

What an amazing game! A satisfying victory after what was a sloppily played Super Bowl XL.
A crazy night at the bar, I had to help break up a fight that my friend got in. This fucker punched three or four different people tonight and I had him pinned on the ground at one point. I'm a pacifist and didn't throw any punches though. Sorry a bit off topic. More thoughts on the game to come......
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Ruckus

Truly an instant classic.  Congratulations to you Steelers fans out there.  What a game!  As disappointed as I was with the result of the game, I'm really feeling for the few true diehard Cardinals fans out there.

Still can't believe no one could tackle Harrison >:(

great game! congrats capt!  also happy to see former buckeye Santonio H do so well :-) as much as i dislike Ben R--he is an animal. he's just so BIG. not sure what would have made that game any better.
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

i was nervous beyond belief watching that game last night. today, i wear my steelers sweatshirt at work in an office full of ravens fans, and surprisingly, a hardcore cardinals fan. they have not been happy.

it was an awesome game. i recorded it last night and will watch it again this week for sure.

Great first and last quarter for sure. The game was even better than The Boss' half-time gig, and he and his band were really entertaining. Even more entertaining was the cheap price of pints at the bar I was at last night.

Roethliseberger had broken ribs during the Super Bowl

Ben Roeth is so much harder than your team's QB

Good work.  I recall we had similar lists.  ;)

I had been avoiding this thread because of the result of the Super Bowl.

I would like to congratulate Miami University and the Ohio State University as they were well represented in that game.

I think the only thing Id change with that list is move Rivers up a couple spots, but Id say through the whole season no one stepped up to get into the Top 10, outside of Warner.

Were there that many players from those schools in the game?? The only buckeye I can think of is Holmes. I dont think we have anyone from Miami, but Rolle and Edge are all I can think of for ARZ.

Miami University not University of Miami!!!  My pops alma mater!

You know, that Big Ben guy that almost kills himself for your team!?!  Super Bowl MVP from OSU so it was bittersweet for me (though mainly bitter)
