QuoteStraight.  WHIP is preferred.  Like I said, I'll drop the free league if it is overcrowded.  Isn't that March Madness.  If possible, I say pick the latest date possible prior to opening day.  There are still Sunday spots available I believe. :)

I'd be down for a Sunday spot.

My buddy rich is deciding whether he wants to play on the free league or pay.  Have you talked to any of your peeps, Walt?

Not at all.  We still have slots open for the free and pay leagues.  feel free to join one or both.  The pay league hasn't been set up yet, but we are planning on doing a 50 dollar buy in.  Here's the info on the free one:

If it needs to be changed, we need to change it at least a week before the day we want to draft, because draft time slots fill up quick.

I haven't really said anything to anyone yet. Been waiting for more details and stuff. Still a lot of time, so I'm not too worried. I did mention it to a couple of people, and they seemed interested.

Found out opening day isn't on my birthday. Unless there's that "overseas opening day" thing that's a week early...and that doesn't count, nope!

so can anyone recommend any good fantasy baseball sites that give good draft info for free?? (ie position rankings, overall rankings, strategy, etc. From my experience, yahoo and ESPN are terrible for this stuff)

I have a couple for football, but couldnt really find anything for hockey. Im thinking baseball should have a couple though.

If you dont want your competition seeing what you use and since Im not playing in these leagues, feel free to PM me  :)

Dude, same rules apply.  Just make sure their rankings are based on a standard format than make adjustments as necessary based on your settings.

Typically I do used Yahoo, Espn and a variety of other smaller sites googled that have "UPDATED" sheets at draft time.  I have a good idea of the top half of the players but its the bottom half where comparison shopping seems to go a long way for me.

Hey, someone remind me or slap me once we are getting closer to the draft.  I want to do the live one this time.  Last year the computer picked my players.

Are we doing a free and pay one?
If you don't know for yourself, how could you ever know for me....

i don't see the pay league working, because only four people have even joined the free league. let's get that filled first.

I haven't checked the league in a while, but last time I checked we still only had four people. I wouldn't mind just having one league, but it seems the momentum train is stopped. If anyone has problem trying to sign into the league, just ask.

Hey guys,

I might be a guilty party of not signing up.  I guess based on aMD's first post on this page (4) that I was thinking the pay league had not been set up yet?  If it has been set up, I will go ahead and register.  If the pay league is a no-go and we still need bodies to fill out the free league, I am up for that too.

aMillionDreams

Looks like the pay league is dead in the water.  We'd love to have ya in the free league though.  My two buddies should be signing up soon, too.

Okay, I'm in and looking forward to it.  The long, winter thaw is finally here, I'm hoping.  Bring on some hardball, and go Reds!

aMillionDreams

Hell yeah, another Reds fan!

No, it's Matt.
Reds fan forever.  I was 3 and 4 when the Big Red Machine were playing in back to back Series in 75-76, so the memories are pretty vague.  The 90 Reds and that World Series was awesome.  I turned 18 at midnight the night they swept.  Fun memories!   :)  One playoff appearance and a one game do or die playoff game since then.   :-/

Sorry for that ramble, but I love this time of year with march madness around the corner and spring training starting.

aMillionDreams

You've got a few years on me.  I grew hearing stories of the Big Red Machine and even got to meet them at a Card Show in '92.  Pete Rose shook my hand and gave me a wink.

I was nine when they won the series and that was equally as life shattering for a kid growing up in the cincy area. Not much since then, but hey, we have history on our side.  We can say our team didn't win during the steriod-era because they did it the old-fashion way the whole way through.  I still believe Griff and Dunn were always clean.  At least Griffey wasn't using the kind that helps you recover from injuries.  ;)

I think our Reds have a shot at making a run this year.  They play in a tough division and they need their young talent to grow up quick but they seem to have a lot of young talent these days.  I hate to say this, but getting rid of griff and dunn may be the best thing for this team.

Yeah, I'm also excited.  ;D

I agree with you, I think we'r better off without Jr. and Dunn.  I'm really not sold on Dusty, though.  Can't get over his love with the veterans (Corey Patterson, ugghhh).  I really hope Jaque Jones isn't this year's Patterson.  Anyway, Dusty said in the Enquirer a few days ago that this is what he's always wanted, youth and no huge stars/egos.  Time will tell.

I really like our pitching and our young core of position guys.  Harang will bounce back, Arroyo will be good for 12-14 wins and respectable ERA, Volquez I think is the real deal, same with Cueto.  It's early in Spring Training but Homer and Owings look to battle it out for that 5th spot.  Phillips, Bruce, Votto give us a good middle, and hopefully Taveras pans out.  EE has it in him, needs to get and maintain confidence.  All in all, I'm optimistic, but then, when am I not in March.  :)
