QuoteBottle Shock- good "wine" movie. I guess some of it is inaccurate, but supposedly they're redoing it. I liked it.  :)

I liked this too...so theyre remaking this version that came out last year?! I dont see the point of that, unless theyre trying to make it a box office movie instead of an indie flick.

My bro works out in Napa in the wine industry and the rumor around the campfire is that there were so many inaccuracies with Bottle Shock that they wanted to make a movie to correct those. Also, they wanted to give more credit to the Stags Leap wine they talked about at the very end since that got like no screen time.
Because we're all in this together...

Wife and I watched Forgetting Sara Marshall. Thought it was hilarious and touching. Oh and Mila Kunis was beyond hot in it.

I really enjoyed that one, great cast inc Russell Brand who I thought I wasn't going to like.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

He had us cracking up. The scene where he's giving the one nerdy guy pointers and where he was singing at dinner had me rollin.

I think I just went from 6 to midnight!  ;D

Love that movie. Jason Segel has even got me to tune into How I Met Your Mother every once in awhile.

And Ive never seen Mila Kunis look as good as she did in FSM.

Was Jarvis's music in the trailer? He was working on tunes for the movie.

PONYO!!!!!

Also saw a preview of Where The Wild Things Are.  Looks fun and it had Arcade Fire backgound music.

I watched V For Vendetta a couple days ago, really enjoyed that. I wish I wouldn't have neglected seeing that one for so long. Recommended if you're into books like 1984, Brave New World, and the movie Brazil. I also watched Almost Famous last night, seen it before a long time ago. I forgot how good it was!
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

For some reason this morning I was thinking about Almost Famous. I think that might be in my Top 10 for the 2000's

Watched Chinatown for the 2nd time last night, first time in awhile. I liked it a good bit the first time, I like it even more after seeing it again. what a fantastic movie that got even better with another viewing. Rare to find such a complex and controversial storyline back then. Its in the conversation with Cuckoo's Nest, Departed, and Shining as Nicholson's best movie for me.

If it was 1970 and you had to choose: Streep or Dunaway

IMO Dunaway All....The...Way  8-)

Chinatown blew me away, I need to watch that a second time too. Five Easy Pieces has a great Nicholson performance as well, it's definitely worth a look if you haven't seen it. I think he's great in Easy Rider too, despite a small role.
Have you seen Bonnie And Clyde? Dunaway looks great in that one too.
I vote Faye Dunaway.
Just checked IMDB, Streep's first acting credit wasn't until 1977. If I had to pick on acting alone than I'd go Streep (but I'm pretty sure that's not what you meant).

Chinatown kicks ass. One of my favorites.

I was actually talking with people on another message board the last few days in a thread that was "Best Movies before 1970". I dont know how it came up because it was made after 1970, but Five Easy Pieces came up. I thought it was good, but there's at least 10 Nicholson movies I like more than it. It's nice because its an untypical character for Nicholson, but outside of his performance, I wasnt a big fan of that one.

Have not seen Bonnie and Clyde. Someday I will.

And yeah, easily Streep for acting. But not what I was talking about  ;D

Salvador Sanchez

Saw Extract which was hilarious. I liked Inglorious Basterds a lot and I saw the new Dardenne Bros film, Lorna's Silence a while back which I thought was great.
Oh I finally saw Goodbye Solo which is my favorite Bahrani film and my favorite of 09 so far.

Beeswax looks promising on Friday tho.

But 09 is probably going to be inihilated by Malick's Tree of Life at X-mas, just wait.

State of Play

Better than I expected, then again Im a sucker for political/journalism thrillers. Without Russell Crowe, I dont think it would have been near as good. Not only is Rachel McAdams nice to look at, but she's actually a pretty good actress. I think they went one twist too far to end it, so that knocked it down a peg, but thats about all I didnt like.

6.7/10

The original British TV miniseries is a hell of a lot better. I saw that first and it made the American version look like a complete piece of crap. I turned it off halfway through because I had no interest in sitting through a completely inferior version of a story I'd already seen.

Sparkle

Just in from seeing 500 Days of Summer. Really enjoyed it, pretty amusing and great music.
