...I still think it is bad ass....I fucking heard this commercial on the radio the other day (I think it was for some stupid cell phone service) and Chris Cornell had lended his voice to the commercial to advertise his new album too and at the end of it this stupid women's voice comes on talking about how much of a hottie Chris Cornell is ....I nearly vomited, how was that guy in Soundgarden???  I thought he was this pissed rocker actually concerned about making good music, what happened to you Chris?.....

That album was their high-water mark that's for sure. Screw the grunge tag: Badmotorfinger was a great great great badmotherfucking hard rock record. Boy oh boy do I not like Audioslave and the Cornell solo stuff is just as boring.  Still, I'd love it if Soundgarden made a comeback which has been rumoured for a little while now.

I like Louder Than Love, Badmotorfinger & Superunknown equally for different reasons. & with regards to Chris's solo album's, have you heard Euphoria Morning?

There's a B&W photo of Jerry Garcia (Egypt '78) in the latest issue of UNCUT.
I swear I thought it was Kim Thayil @ first glance  ;D

This still tops out anything else in "grunge" for me. Soundgarden was and will always be perfect for me. badmotorfinger is one that I throw on when I need to get the juices flowing. Superunknown is one that I like to throw on when my mind is somewhere ..... else.

Same for me.

Soundgarden were so underrated compared to everyone else at the time. I always say to myself: How many Nirvana and Pearl Jam rip-offs do you get? (even though they can't pull it off) But you never get a Soundgarden one cause no one could touch them.
I watched that fashion thing that Chris was on the other week with Timberland... I wanted to puke. :'(

First off, thanks for posting this random ass music, Tracy.  It makes me happy.

Secondly, Chris Cornell has had the best voice in modern rock in the last 20 years.  HOW CAN YOU HIT THOSE NOTES?!?!!?

me too

it's just that, when I first heard it, man, it was like, wow. A little bit like (and I'm not really comparing, b/c there's only 1 monster of heavy metal) when I heard Paranoid or War Pigs for the first time. Sonic rush of thuunder with a groove.

Since RATM seem to be back together, I wouldnt rule it out

I too thought EM was a decent solo record. I would imagine most SG fans might have not liked it bc its not rock, but I thought it was solid.

I think BMF and SU are pretty equivalent. They each are very good and bring something to the table

Honestly, I think:
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Soundgarden
Alice in Chains
Stone Temple Pilots

each had their own sound...I dont think any of them ripped off one another

You want to know the most UNDERRATED band from then, look here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWZoESAq72Q

Not only were they the most underrated band in early 'grunge', but they quite possibly were the most talented

I only found out about them in the last yr or 2, and am amazed they didnt get more recognition. Theyre FUCKIN GREAT, and their sound is a perfect combination of grunge/alternative and classic rock

Honestly, last summer whenever I was just searching around to make a 90's mix, I stumbled on Screaming Trees. Lanegan impresses me though and at some point Ill try to get his solo stuff

I was only 12 when Dust/All I Know came out, and 8 when Sweet Oblivion/Nearly Lost You was released, so I cant say Ive dug too deep

Its funny bc when I heard it last year, I def remember hearing All I Know back then, but these days I just cant believe they didnt get the exposure/play the other bands did

Screaming Trees were more talented than the rest of them pretty much

On Hype! there is the funniest quote by Van Connor where he says something along the lines of "There are tons of bands out there but the trees are a ton of band." ;D Have you seen it?

As a clean-looking and clean-living (beer and wine not included) Deadhead, I'll have to check that Uncut cover out.

Nope, I haven't heard that Cornell album. I did see a recent exclusive concert that Chris put on for one of the music TV stations I work for. His solo material was pretty good live, but it couldn't compare to the odd Soundgarden tune he played, at least sonically speaking.
