I know that Kurt was good friends with Dylan Carlson of Earth (I think it was Dylan that gave Kurt the shotgun that he killed himself with) so I'm going to say Earth 2 (1993 Sub Pop)?
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Quotegood guess, but no

maybe i should specify that it's not necessarily musical though his contribution is.

I would guess something by the Meat Puppets, but this clue makes me feel wrong.
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

easy jim

last hint:  he is playing guitar over the SPOKEN WORD of the principal artist.

So soon after payday, know it seemed a shame!

Oh yeah!  William S Burroughs!

Can't remember what song he played on, was it "Spare Ass Annie"?

I love Burroughs' spoken word stuff!

easy jim

right you are!

"Priest They Called Him" actually, though they are all equally eerie.  Check it out if you have the means.

my uncle actually shared a backyard with Bull Lee in Lawrence...said he didn't interact with him much but that he could just FEEL him.

--yeah aMD...hearing burroughs himself read his work adds so much dimension to his art.

I guess that gives me another:

Who is the only other person to play on the Foo Fighters' first album other than Dave Growl?

I don't know that I would feel safe sharing a back yard with him.  what an interesting life!  Killed his wife in a drug-induced haze, got away with it.  moved to mexico and tangiers to wait out statute of limitations on marijuana charges in the states.  had three doctorates including one in medicine.  wrote in medical journals about drug addiction (making himself the guinea pig), wrote a book on how to predict the weather, he was a poet, actor, spoken word artist, novelist, etc. etc.!

I need to track down that tape I used to have in high school. he has the most incredible speaking voice ever.  have you ever seen junkie's christmas? drugstore cowboys?

aMD

QuotePat Smear?

nope. good guess though

I love Drugstore Cowboy...never heard of Bull Lee, sounds like quite a character!

i don't think burroughs had anything to do with drugstore cowboy other than his role at the end.  i love that movie too.

Quotesomething Baez?

Actually, Harry Belafonte.  He (Dylan) played harmonica on it.  He was listed as Bobby Dylan
it's a voice. and it's a choice
to call you out. or stay at home

aMD

QuoteI've got a question but no answer for that one (unless its Doris Day or "Maria Callas...whoever she is" [question within a question] Name That Song?)

Question: What album was Bob Dylan's first musical credit listed on?

I missed this question somehow and knew the answer.  he played on Midnight special.  Anyone know who produced that session.  I'll give yas a hint, he pulled a gun on harry and bobby during the sessions

Old Bull Lee was Burroughs' pseudonym in Kerouac's On the Road.

Speaking of tangiers, I'm gonna be making  a trip to Morocco on spring break and I'm planning on going to see the hotel where he stayed while he was there... I can't wait!

Who is the only other person to play on the Foo Fighters' first album other than Dave Growl?

Here's a hint: He also played in a super group band with David Grohl as well as Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth and Mike Mills of REM called the Backbeat band.  The band recorded the soundtrack to the Beatles biopic Backbeat.

(pulled that one off wikipedia but i thought it was a cool bit of trivia and maybe a hint for someone)

Ok, here's another hint: he's in the Gutter Twins.

I've already a guess & can't go again so I checked. I remember now that he was in the Backbeat Band...good question aMD!

Righty-O!  That story used to be quirky but after the murder trial it's just creepy and scary.
